Chapter 10:

When he woke up he found himself chained to a wall and could here Raven screaming. Devin struggled to try to get to her. The screams stopped and Slade walked through the door and towards Devin.

“Where is she?” Devin growled, hate dripping from his voice.

“Don't worry Devin we're just asking Raven some questions,” Slade said smiling under his mask.

He just barely managed to avoid Devin's claws as he slashed at him. His eyes started glowing red and drool started dripping from his fangs.

“Well, well. It seems you've developed an attraction to her. Interesting,” Slade smiled under his mask.

Slade walked out the door and Raven was brought in her costume all but gone. “Devin?” she asked weakly.

“I'm here Raven,” Devin said. Raven crawled over to him and barely made it before she collapsed into his chest.

“Why is he doing this?”

“I don't know but I'll get us out of here.”

“How? You can't reach any shadows.”

“I'll think of something.”

After several minutes Cinderblock came in and held Devin while one of Slade's robots unlocked him. Cinderblock carried Devin out keeping him a safe distance from himself. Devin was strapped to a table and was tortured by another robot. While he was being tortured, Devin felt the urge to snap the bindings and slaughter everything that tried to hurt him and Raven.

I can't let it take control, He thought as his teeth became fangs and claws grew. His eyes turned red and he could hardly restrain himself from trying to kill everything around him. Can't. have to stay in control until I'm back with Raven, he told himself as he closed his eyes trying to block out everything, but the smell of his blood was to much for his demon sense of smell.

He tried to focus on Raven's face but that made the urge to kill stronger. Several of the lights in the room shattered and the remaining lights cast shadows over Devin's body. He merged with them and felt the cold embrace him and ease the pain in his back.
Raven heard them using the same things that they'd used on her, but didn't hear Devin scream.

She heard the lights shatter and realized that Devin had done it. She knew that he wouldn't be able to make it to her with all the lights in the room. There weren't any shadow's for him to come through. Instead, she smiled knowing that he was out and would come back for her.

In Titan Tower the Titan's had gotten back. They hadn't heard from Raven or Devin. They hadn't found the bombs, only small armies of Slade's Robots, which they defeated easily. They went to Raven's room thinking that maybe they were there. Robin knocked on the door, no response. He knocked again, still nothing. He put his ear to the door and heard a faint voice.

He opened the door enough that he could speak through, “Raven? Devin? You guys in here?”

Again, there was the voice mumbling. Robin opened the door enough for him to go in and heard the voice more clearly. It was Devin's but it didn't make any sense.

“Slade. Raven. Have to. Blood. Pain. Shadow,” Robin looked around but didn't bother to gawk at the objects around the room.

Sitting in a dark corner was a figure. “Devin?” Robin asked as the Titans came in after him.

The figure stood his eyes glowing red. He stepped into the light, and they saw him. It was Devin, but not Devin. His eyes glowed red even in the light, his hair had turned red, and
his fangs were bared. Blood came from fresh wounds, but what shocked them the most were the black feathered wings coming from his back. He stalked towards them his muscles spaziming.

“Have to. Raven. Slade. Kill. Have to,” He said through his clenched teeth. He placed his hand on his forehead.

“What about Raven? What do you have to do?” Robin asked.

“Devin. It is us your friends,” Starfire pleaded.

“Jokes over man. This isn't funny,” Beast Boy said.

Devin roared and they were all sent flying out of the room.

“That wasn't fun,” Cyborg said sitting up. Devin walked out of the room and held out his hand as a shadow ball formed.

“I thought he could only do that in the shadows!” Beast Boy shouted.

The ball disappeared and Devin started convulsing, “Control. Shadow. Slade. Blood.”

Devin roared and slammed his fist into the wall next to the door. His head dropped and he looked at the Titans through his bangs, “I have to regain control. I have to save Raven. I have to kill Slade,” he said his voice deep and airy.

He stood up straight and his body was covered in shadows. He walked to the Titans and puts his hand on Robin's forehead. The other Titans grabbed his arm and they were all taken by the shadows.
