Chapter 1: The Demon Hunter's Destiny

A deadly black was painted against the midnight sky causing everything it touched to be thickly coated in a unbearable darkness, letting only glimpses of the pearl-colored moon show thought and even that was rare chance for as soon as it was there it was gone. Nothing stirred or made a sound. Suddenly a baby's wail filled the air, a grim warning of pure evils to come, of betrayals untold of and deaths in the millions. On the other side of town a strong and elegant dove plummeted to the dirty streets, dead. The Dark lord, the one to release the demon god, Buhamut was born.

The stars twinkled merrily in the night sky. The sun had just went to bed leaving it's post in the summer sky but not before giving it's light show of splendid pink and orange, purple and crimson red. The moon now hung proudly in the night sky without fear of it's rival the blazing sun. Everything seemed serene and regal as if a little bit of heaven had been pulled from the glittering sky. Every thing felt cozy and safe so unlike that fearsome night ,one year ago, when the Dark lord was born. As if on cue a baby's cry penetrated the night, the sound of a dove and so the Chosen One was born to destroy the demon god and the dark lord and end the darkness and killing. Finally the demon hunter was born.

In the dull hospital room, a young mother of twenty-one looked at the child in her arms, her first and only daughter and smiled.

"I will call her…umm…Mikomi." Mari, the young mother said with a smile.

"What?" The chestnut haired man with deep gold eyes by her side finally spoke up looking at his model wife with long black hair. She laughed and her violet eyes twinkled happily.

"It means," she started" Hope in Japanese or something like that."

"Oh …I know that…I just wanted to know if you knew and all."

"Sure Taiche sure." Mari smirked and laughed again.

"Hello, Mikomi Kioko Ruilanne, daughter welcome to the world," Taiche whispered. Mari burst into giggles," What?"

"You look so sweet!" Soft sounds filled the tiny room, the Demon Hunter had fallen asleep.

The wind swirled around a young girl of sixteen, causing her long, straight raven to float in the wind hinding yellow hawk-like eyes. The sun was about to set and it was getting chilly. Mikomi Kioko Ruilanne walked down the path to go home, normally she would have taken the longer way back home but something felt like it was calling her and she walked to the old and twisted path like in a trance. She had long since past the beautiful, old Victorian houses and was in an alley. She looked around and noticed the long and evil looking shadows on the walls somewhere there was a loud and frightened scream. Mikomi stopped in her tracks and looked around horrified, looking for the someone or something that had made the sound but, it hadn't sounded human and her imagination was going wild, longs arms were reaching out trying to grad her and pull her into the dreaded darkness. She walked faster than in to a quick jog to a full out run. Fences past quickly as she ran blindly into an old rundown building. As something in her brain switched on telling her of the cold building she had ran into. The windows were ether boarded up or broken and spiders web's hung everywhere blood was splatter on the walls and a child's cry was heard suddenly the floor engulfed Mikomi and she fell and fell…

The alarm clock rang and a slender arm appeared out of the maroon clover and hit it with all her might. Slowly the six-teen year old figure beneath the covers rose. Mikomi yawn and stretched her arms and looked around the birds were singing outside her bay window and the sun was peeking through the drawn curtains. The only stream of light fell on the girl's face.

"Mikomi breakfast, honey" called Taiche her father," and then school!" Mikomi groaned of course he was going to say school, her father was a big professor at the local university, his favorite pass time was being a scholar looking at old pieces of junk (in Mikomi's opinion) and then tell her about it for hours on end.

Mikomi walked down the hall of their mansion as she turned the corner she stopped in a corner was a picture of her mother, Mari her mother had died when she one. The picture was of Mari on her wedding day, she was graceful and beautiful with small white lily braided into her light raven lock like Mikomi and violet eyes. Mikomi wished once more that she had her mother's gentle violet eyes instead of her father's golden tiger eyes that had scared so many people with their ferociousness. Mikomi jumped as her father called for her again , quickly she turned the corner and walled into their huge dinning room. Silently she sat at her chair at the far end of the table. Taiche lowered the newspaper and looked up, he smiled at his daughter as she sat in her chair. Suddenly Darwin their butler laid a china plate in front of Mikomi with bacon and eggs with some toast on the side. For a drink, tea was poured in to her cup, she thanked him and started eating.

"Mikomi, guess what I found out today," started Taiche as Mikomi groaned.

"What father." Mikomi sighed.

"Well before we moved here, a man lived here…he was slightly insane…but anyway he said that a in two centuries a family would lived in this very house."

"So" Mikomi was trying hard to find her interest in the house but was failing as her eyes twinkled.

"Yes well he said that the family's girl was actually very special-"

"Was she insane"

"NO…really Mikomi try to be serious," Taiche started crossly, "the man said the girl would be gifted with special powers-" at this point in time Mikomi started laughing.

"Really you don't believe that do you? Special powers? Next you'll be saying that there are demon and I have to fight them," Mikomi started laughing again and left the table," I got to go to school! Bye dad! Bye Darwin!"

Taiche watched his daughter run out the room and heard the front door close. Slowly he sighed "But don't you see…you are that girl….Mikomi…you'll see soon enough that you are very right."

Mikomi quickened her pace as she walked to her best friend's house, Suki Yang the hyperactive blonde and biggest airhead at Moriyama High School. She sighed as Suki came tearing up the street. Slowly she counted to five and was greeted by a loud pitch wail. As Suki once again trip over a crack in the road.

"Suki you do that all the time isn't about time that you realize that there is a crack in the road. I mean an normal person would look were there going if they came down that street for ten years and tripped every time, but nooooo Suki trips…every day!," Mikomi ranted like every day she had known Suki, "look, now we're late for school. COME ON!"

With that Mikomi grads Suki and ran to school with Suki in tow.

"See what you almost did Suki, we were almost late for school!" screamed Mikomi as she sat down in her seat panting. Suki remain silent and look to the door as the teacher walked in. The whole class stood up and bowed to the teacher. The teacher, Mr. Fujiko dismissed them with wave of his hand and they sat down in silence.

"Today we have a exchange student from Hong Kong, China," the blonde teacher started," his name is…um…oh…yes…Xiao Lang Woo. Please come in Woo-kun."

A seventeen year boy appeared in the doorway, blue hair hiding beautiful violet eyes. Xiao Lang looked around the room and smiled slightly at Mikomi, causing her to blush and slump in her chair. Mr. Fujiko told him to sit next to Ruilanne, Mikomi and she slowly raised her hand in the air to show where she was. Xiao Lang grinned and sat next to her, watching her carefully. The classes to lunch passed quickly enough and soon Mikomi was sitting outside, under a tree, talking to Suki about Xiao Lang.

" He's really cute Suki," Mikomi started," and as soon as I'm finished eating I'm going to show him around school."

"Wow Mi-chan, your sooooooooo lucky!" Suki giggled and stopped when a shadow passed over them. Mikomi looked up and smiled when she realized it was Xiao Lang. She looked at Suki and sweatdroped when she saw that Suki had hearts in her eyes.

"Hello Woo-kun this is Suki Yang," Mikomi started introducing them," Suki-chan this is Xiao Lang Woo." Xiao Lang bowed to Suki sending her into a fit of giggles before returning his gaze to Mikomi.

"Please called me…Hideaki "Xiao Lang said, " Oh yes…Mikomi are you finished?"

"Yes let's go." But before they even walked a meter a loud and annoying called out Hideaki's name. They both turned around at the same time and saw Ryota, a dark haired brat and his gang.

"Hey Woo," Ryota called out again and cracked his knuckles," let me welcome you to Moriyama High School, my very own way." With that he ran at Hideaki and punched him but stopped when he realized that Hideaki wasn't there anymore, instead he was behind him. That just got Ryota more angry and he swung around to punch Hideaki, but he catched it and squeezed Ryota hand, bring the dark haired boy to the ground in pain.

"Get out of my sight." Hideaki growled letting go of Ryota's hand, which looked broken. Ryota looked at Hideaki fearfully then ran away, his gang in tow.

"Wow,…that was….amazing…no one ever stands up to Ryota and his gang." Mikomi started in disbelief before smiling at him." Your very good. Where did you learn to fight like that?"

" You wouldn't believe me if I told you…so are you going to grace me with your presence and show me around, milady?" Hideaki bowed to her cause her to blush.

"Um…y-yes" Mikomi stuttered. He lent her his arm and they started towards the school. After showing Hideaki around the school and racing to class, the school day passed quickly.

Mikomi was in her kitchen making some tea because Hideaki was coming over so she could show him around town. Sad music suddenly was heard from the hall. Mikomi suddenly turned around and walked to the hall, as it got louder. Finally she realized it came from the basement and was to it, slowly going down the stairs. That when their was a sudden gust of wind and the door slammed shut. She turned on the lights and the music stopped. Looking around, she saw that this was where her father put all of his beautiful artifacts. It the corner, in a glass case was a elegant bracelet, about an inch wide made of pure gold with a huge diamond, the size of Mikomi's fist. The diamond pulsing and Mikomi realized that was pulsing to the beat of her heart, which explained why the bracelet was pulsing quickly. Without really thinking Mikomi slipped the cover off the case and touched the bracelet, which was warm. She picked it out and looked at it closely before putting it on. It fit her just right and didn't stop her from moving her wrist in any way. She sighed and tried to take it off but panicked when it didn't come off( much her horror).

Suddenly the doorbell rang and Mikuni ran upstairs deciding that she'll tell her father after and besides, it looked very nice. Running to the door, she looked at herself in the mirror, as always a girl stared back at her, dressed in jeans and a black tank top with a see-through shirt over it. Mikomi opened the door and smiled at Hideaki. She walked outside and locked the door. Together, Mikomi and Hideaki walked to the park when Hideaki stopped and looked at the bracelet.

"What's wrong Hideaki?" Mikomi asked worried.

"Mikumi, may I tell you a legend?" When Mikomi nodded Hideaki continued "It's said where I come from, that there is a legend that in the time of need a girl shall step forward and destroy the evil with the help of a magical bracelet, which helps the bearer control all the elements. Of course, everyone wanted to find this elemental bracelet, the Tenshi's gifuto or the Angel's gift. But the bracelet could not be found and even if found would slip off the person and be lost. When one day a girl with a pure heart found the bracelet in her room and put it on. She was able to control the elements and used to destroy evil. It was last used about a century ago and then my elders found out that the next girl was to be found here, in Kyoto, Japan. I was sent here to find the girl and train to use her powers, without the bracelet and with the bracelet. I was told to find the one who would slay the darkness in this era. The Tenma Karyuudo or the Demon Hunter," Hideaki paused and looked at Mikomi, " you, our last hope or Mikomi in Japanese."

Mikomi paled greatly and let the new information sink in, but it was too much and she fell into darkness.
