Fan Fiction ❯ Terror High ❯ The book, the hanging and the sweet moment... ( Chapter 3 )

Damian grabbed the book tightly in his palms, pressing it against his chest. It was Thursday morning, the day after Sabrina had dragged him to the office. He couldn't believe that they had gotten away with another visit to the room. It was almost as if they were being let in…it was that easy.
Chase and Ella rubbed their eyes. They had been up all night on the phone talking about the suicide for the second night in a row. And they were bagged.
The both of them walked slowly down the C wing stairs. Barely even exchanging glances, Aaron, Rory and Chloe ran up to them.
Chloe practically screamed when she saw their faces.
“Uh, Whoa…” Aaron began. “You guys look awful…”
Chase opened her mouth to say something but then looked at Ella and sighed.
Ella was resting her head on Aaron's shoulder, asleep.
“ELLA!” the four of them yelled.
Chase got even annoyed when Ella didn't move. What got her even madder was that Aaron wasn't doing anything to try to make Ella wake up.
“ELAAAAAA!” Chase yelled. She then went to slap her.
She slapped Damian instead.
The poor kid fell down the remaining few stairs. The book that he was carrying flew out of his hands.
And the book hit Ella.
“OW!” Ella yelled, losing her footing and falling down a stair.
She gasped when she saw the book. The pages were yellowed and the cover was trashed.
“W-what is this?” Ella said, picking up the book.
Aaron and Chloe bent down to look at the book as well. Chloe tried to open the book but then Damian snatched it from Ella.
In a flash, Damian was gone again.
“That Damian's up to something…” Ella said skeptically, rubbing her eyes.
With that, she fell asleep on Aaron again.

It was quite a scene Friday morning at the school. People arriving were scared out of their minds, entering through the side doors because of the scene at the main entrance.
Two bodies - one a boy, one a girl - hung from the beams holding up the overhang. Blood had been dripping from the boy's hand, and now it had dried on his fingers. The girl's face was scratched badly, her jeans ripped in multiple places. They had to have been in a fight before this, had to have struggled. It was obvious in the marks their bodies bore.
When Damian arrived that morning, he knew that he should be worried. He recognized both the dead people immediately.
It was Tyler and Trina hanging from the support beams.
First Aiden, then Melanie, now Tyler and Trina...Damian realized that their killer was moving up through the grades.
Sabrina.
He took off through the main doors of the school. He had to find her, warn her - if his theory was right, she was next.
Damian sprinted through the school twice, covering everywhere but the gym building. He knew she wouldn't be in there - she didn't do school sports. Even so...he didn't see her anywhere.
Sabrina, where are you?
Damian ran to the balcony one more time, glancing over it. No Sabrina.
Come on, Sabrina, please...
He flew down the stairs and was just about to turn into B wing when he saw a familiar figure coming through the door.
Damian ran to Sabrina and flung his arms around her. "Sabrina!"
She was surprised at his actions (he wasn't normally so...outgoing) but happy to see him. "Damian! What -”
"You saw Ty? And Trina?" he asked.
"Yeah." Sabrina nodded. "It's not good...with Ty and Trina dead..."
"Who would do that?" Damian asked. He already knew the answer.
Sabrina did too, but she stalled, pretending to be lost in thought as they walked to her locker. She made sure Damian was out of view from the office. "You remember what I told you - about investigating the freshman curse?"
"Yeah..."
"I think Tyler told Trina, and they were doing some investigating of their own after school. They must have found out something they weren't supposed to...but what's secret enough to kill them for?"
Damian shrugged, clueless. Sabrina stopped; they'd reached her locker.
"With Aiden missing, and Melanie and Ty and Trina dead..." Sabrina trailed off. "It's just you and me now..."
Damian bit his lip, attempting to hide his worry, his fear. "What are we going to do?"
She was trying as hard as he was to hide her emotions. "I don't know, Damian, I really don't."
Damian had always looked like a cute little kid, but it was heartbreaking to see the sadness on his face. The sadness, the fear, and the realization that after all this, they'd probably both end up dead too.
Sabrina hugged him. "We won't let it happen to us, okay? We won't let him kill us."
They both pretended to believe that, but neither really did.

After band class, Aaron went to meet up with everyone else in the C wing, breathless.
Ella was the only one there.
He put an arm on her shoulder and she turned around quickly.
“Oh…” She looked disappointed.
“What?” he asked, a little hurt.
“I - I just wasn't expecting…” She looked down at her shoes. “Hey Aaron!” She sounded perky, happy, and hugged him. She tried to hide what she was feeling inside.
He blushed and looked at her face. A single tear rolled down her cheek.
“W - what's wrong?” Aaron asked, looking around to see if anyone would find him and Ella in this position.
“I - I…I'm scared…” She looked up at him. “Two more people are dead…I'm scared that one of you guys might die too…”
“I wouldn't be able to live with myself if that happened…”
He hugged her even tighter. So much had happened…and Ella was with Chloe when that girl - Melanie - had attempted suicide…
“I…feel like it's my fault…” Ella whispered.
Aaron didn't say anything. There was nothing he could say…
Chase and Chloe walked down the hallway, looking for the rest of the group.
They didn't have to look far…
Ella was practically attached to Aaron in the middle of the hallway.
Aaron looked over Ella's shoulder and blushed. He pulled Ella away from him and tried to pretend that nothing happened.
“Hey…” Chloe said slowly, trying to forget what she saw.
“Hey,” Aaron and Ella said quickly, their faces really red…
There was an awkward silence.
“Oh, yeah!” Aaron said, trying to change the mood, “you know that book that Damian had?”
The three girls nodded.
“What if it was…his plans for the incidents or something?”
“But…” Ella began.
“That's impossible,” Chase said loudly. “These incidents have been happening for years…”
“But…what if it's the `freshman curse' because it's caused by freshmen?”
Everyone was silent for a moment.
Rory showed up just as the bell rang, saying that he saw Ella and Aaron entangled earlier.
The two went red again and Chloe laughed heartily.
If Ella and Aaron were to hug again, then they would probably not hug in the middle of the hallway…
Or probably not even near the school.
