There was a flash of light and the fluorescent lights overhead shattered. The girls screamed, (some more shrilly than others) and Aaron and Rory pushed them out of the way of the falling glass.
It was now almost pitch black.
Aaron stood up and surveyed the hallway.
There was a loud crash after another and the group looked around quickly, their breath caught in their throats.
The lockers were all closing, one after another, coming all the way from the stairs to where they were standing, next to the cooking room.
Books and papers were flying everywhere.
It was also cold.
Ella stood up slowly and looked down the hallway.
She screamed and fell over onto the floor.
Kevin was walking down the hallway, a dark look in his eyes.
“Kevin!” Chloe screamed. She stood up and headed over to him.
Rory grabbed her arm quickly. “I don't think that Kevin's himself…” he said slowly.
“W-what do you mean? What's got you guys so spooked?” Chloe asked, pushing Rory away.
Ella stood up. “Just look at him… he broke his legs… he shouldn't be able to walk at all…” she said quietly, a fear in her eyes that Chloe had never seen before. “Something's wrong with him… something's not right…” Tears were forming in Ella's eyes.
Aaron walked over to Chloe, as did everyone else. “We won't let you do this… Ella and Rory are right… he's not acting like himself…” Aaron began, grabbing Chloe's arm.
She sighed and then Chase screamed.
Aiden was right behind them.
Chloe, who was closest to him, was about to ask how he'd gotten free when she saw his eyes. They were blank, unfocused, darting everywhere…and then he saw her, and his eyes focused, pupils dilating completely. It was too weird.
She screamed.
They ran away from him and they stopped right in front of the library doors. Aiden and Kevin were closing in on them… The only way to get out was through the library-
Too bad Sabrina was coming out of the library doors. And this time, they all saw her blank, unfocused eyes.
They were trapped.
There was no way out.
They were done for.

“Sabrina?” Damian asked.
She had to search the room to find him, unable to focus on anyone or anything. She didn't say anything.
Damian didn't seem to care. He took a cautious step towards her. “Sabrina. It's me.”
For a second, it looked like she was awake, like she was herself. Aaron glimpsed the sparkle usually seen in her dark brown eyes. But then she wasn't…then she was unresponsive again.
“Sabrina, look at me,” Damian said, his voice surprisingly steady.
Chloe saw him shaking. It wasn't that noticeable but for the tremor in his fingers.
For a second she remembered seeing him play the trumpet at the fall concert. Those same fingers had played those keys with more confidence than you'd expect for someone of his stature, of his face. (Not that she was calling him ugly and short.) For a second she remembered being utterly wowed by his skill.
And yet now, here he was, trying to talk to someone who was already dead.
“Sabrina.”
Aaron thought he'd seen that spark again, but it passed just as quickly.
She focused on him. “Come with me, Damian.”
It was her voice, but those were not her words. She reached for him, but he dodged her. “Where?”
“To see the principal,” Sabrina answered, an oddly creepy smile forming on her face. “You're in trouble now…”
She lunged for him again, and again he dodged her. “Sabrina! What's wrong with you?”
“Nothing's wrong with me,” she answered condescendingly. “I'm just asking you to come…Mr. Campbell wanted to see you.”
“Sabrina, something is wrong with you,” Damian said, desperately trying to find the words. “You wouldn't have let me near the principal's office a week ago.”
“Things have changed,” she answered. “He's not to blame for the freshman curse. I know that now.”
“Sabrina - “
“Just trust me Damian,” she said.
For a second they stood, staring straight into each other's eyes.
Rory had his fingers crossed, desperately hoping for Damian not to go with her.
Ella and Aaron were standing together, thinking the same thing as Rory.
Chloe and Chase just watched with bated breath.
Sabrina reached for him again, and this time Damian didn't dodge her.
When he turned to look at him, there was a look in his eyes that none of them recognized at first.
Chase knew it, though. She knew that look too well.
It was a look of defeat. Damian had finally given up.
