New Dreams and Memories ofaMother.

“Noooo!!!” the dream was progressing as normal. Alan's body fell to the ground. Catharine cried, and in one night a child lost both her parents to the shadow that fallowed her. But instead of waking-up, Sakura as an adult was floating in a suspended darkness.

“Where am I?”

“The safe conscious of your mind.” A soft voice said.

“But… I can't stay here… there are people I want to see.”

“Like Yuudai?” The voice was like rippling water.

“No… I can't see him again. He makes me to comfortable, I lose my edge. I can't afford that.” The voice was silent for awhile. “You still there?”

“He will play an important role in your future.”

“I don't care.”

“He is the only one who can keep you safe.” She paused for an answer, and when Sakura didn't say anything, “You need him just as much as Amaya needs Isamu.”

“Ama… I can't stay here, she needs me. Her brother is in the same condition. She needs me to wake-up!”

“A great power is waking in you now, you will need it for the battle you're about to face.”

“What battle? What's going on here? I don't understand.”

“It is time for you to wake-up now. Remember… Yuudai is the only one who can protect you. But most importantly… you will shape the future of this world. Only you can save it, or condemn it.” Darkness started to gather around Sakura as she slipped deeper…

“Please tell me…what's going on?!” She was suffocating. The darkness was swallowing her whole. All she could hear was someone frantically calling her name.

“Sakura… Sakura… please wake up.” She had been thrashing in her sleep and Yuudai was worried sick. Her eyes fluttered open as her shock radiated from her body. She quickly sat up and surveyed her surroundings. The room was large and decorated with gold and red. The carpet was a deep maroon and the walls were a cream color with gold fixtures and decorations all over the walls. The bed was a richly decorated cream color with gold accents and rich red velvet sheets, with a red velvet canopy. The room looked almost royal.

And that was when the headache hit. Sakura clenched her head and started to sob.

“Sakura… are you ok?”

“My head… the dream…” She couldn't complete full sentences.

“Here,” Yuudai handed her a strong pain killer and some water, “Take this… it will help.” Sakura swallowed the pills and lay back down.

“So where am I?”

“My room,” her eyes got really big, “Don't worry, Isamu and Amaya are just down the hall.” She relaxed a little, the voice in the back of her head was telling her to grab on to him. Yuudai brought over a tray with some dishes.

“Here, you'll need your strength.” She eyed him wearily, “Don't worry, it's just chicken broth.” When she didn't reach for it he sighed and picked up the spoon, scooped up some broth, and brought it to her mouth. She pulled back and glared at him.

“I'm not a child, I can do it myself.”

“The do it,” he noticed her frown, “please… you really scared us. It was all I could do to get Amaya to go to sleep.” She continued to look at the bowl. “Look, I know you don't trust me, and I know you don't care what I think, but I know you care about Amaya. She was really afraid you wouldn't wake up. So do it for her.” Sakura rolled her eyes and picked up the spoon. She put some broth in her mouth and swallowed.

“So, your room is nice. Did you design it?” Yuudai looked at her in surprise, but smiled.

“No, I don't have this great of taste. It was actually my mother's project, before she died last year.”

“Oh, I'm so sorry.” Yuudai looked down at the sheets. His smile was still there, but his eyes where sad.

“No, it is alright. The more I talk about her, the easier it is to get better. She was a great woman. All of her time, and as much money as dad would allow, she would give to charities. She loved kids, but I was the only one she could have, so she would spend most of her time as the children's hospitals and orphanages. I remember on day I was throwing a fit about not getting a toy that I really wanted. She got so mad at me that she wouldn't even speak to me. The next morning she got me up early and took me to the hospital to the cancer wing. There were children there with no hair and thin weary bodies, I was afraid. In reality… some of those children didn't have much of a chance to survive. With out a sibling or a matching donor… they wouldn't be able to get the transplant and survival would be difficult.

So I sat there and watched mom tell them stories. They were so excited and so happy. They hung on to those stories like they where the only thing keeping them alive.

On the way hone we drove threw a rougher part of town. There where children playing in the streets with one baseball and sticks… no bats. When I asked my mom why, she looked out the window and replied, `Yuudai… you are very fortunate. That toy you wanted yesterday, these kids will never even see one. You have an advantage that not very many people have. Someday you will take over the family company from your father. When that day comes, you will get the chance to shape the world. What you do with that chance will define who you are.' I never asked for another toy again.” Yuudai walked over to his window and looked out at the stars.

“My father and I built a new addition on to the children's hospital and dedicated it to my mom. Then when I turned twenty-five a month ago, I bought the orphanage. It is currently undergoing reconstruction and the children are staying in my summer home. I make large donations to the public school system, and I even own a school in Africa. I take care of it and give them all of their needs. I'm working on purchasing another one as well. And finally, my company is working on a toys-for-tots program. That way every child will have a toy on Christmas.”

“Wow Takahashi… that's amazing. I never knew billionaire playboys had this side.” Part of her heart was being drawn to his.

“Well, I didn't think the media had any right to know. I'm not really the way they paint me, a spoiled, rich, selfish playboy. Sure, I like the ladies, but it's all about the good of humanity.” He looked at Sakura and smiled. She could see so much emotion swimming in those eyes. If only she could tell what they were.

“I'm really impressed Takahashi.” What she really meant to say was, `You're so great, kiss me.' But instead it came out as sarcasm.

“Thanks Tsukino, anyway, you should get some sleep.”

“Well if this is your room, where are you going to sleep?”

“Well, I'll take another guest room. I'll even go to the opposite end of the mansion if you want.” He smiled really big, “Sleep well Saku.” He leaned forward.

`Oh Kami… he's going to kiss me. What do I do?' She closed her eyes and tried to still her beating heart. But he totally surprised her when instead of kissing her lips, he gently kissed her forehead.

“Yuudai…” He showed her so much respect. Suddenly she didn't want to be away from him… that voice was back. “Wait!” she reached out for him. His hand was on the knob. He turned to look at her.

“Yes?”

“Will you stay with me… at least for tonight… keep me safe?” Inwardly he was cheering as he did an invisible victory dance, `She wants me around!' His eyes searched her face, `She looks so desperate… so… alone.'

“Sure Saku.” He went to sit down on the velvet couch.

“Not there… here… holding me close.” She patted the bed, “Let me feel your heart beat, please. I need to know you're real.”

`Oh Kami,' Yuudai thought, `can I do that and keep her safe from me to.' He gulped really big. She giggled as he climbed into the bed and wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close. They were spooning each other, her back to his chest.

`He feels so warm, so safe. I'm so tired.' Sakura smiled lazily.

`She's the perfect fit. I need this girl in my life. There is no doubt in my mind now.' Yuudai snuggled closer to her and rested his mouth near her ear.

“I love you Saku…” She sighed in contentment, deep in sleep. Content that the love of his life was in his arms, he snuggled his face in the crook of her neck, nuzzling her shoulder and feel into a deep, dreamless sleep.
