The Coffee Shop Boy

Scene 1:

The scene is set in a café. Addie a girl with dark brown hair scraped back into a ponytail leans on the counter with a menu resting in one hand.

Addie: The usual please Pete.

She gestures at the menu whilst talking to the man behind the bar.

Pete: Let me guess…a strawberry frapuchino with whipped cream and a muffin. Am I right?

Addie: As always.

A tall dark haired boy walks in. Carrying a basket ball under one arm he winks at Addie and she returns it with a sleepy smile.

Pete: Can I help you Alex?

Alex: Sure, The milkshakes look welcoming this morning. I'll have a chocolate please.

Addie faces Alex.

Addie: you come here often?

Alex: Only after me and my mates play basketball.

Addie looks towards the front of the shop. A gang of boys hang outside it laughing and shouting at each other.

Alex: What's your name? Do anything special?

Addie: Nothing special, I'm Adeline…Addie for short.

Pete notices for the first time a twinkle in Addie's eye. He compares the couple "not bad…they seem to like each other" He shrugs and walks off into another cut-off part of the shop.

Alex: See you…. Addie. Can I call you that?

Addie: Sure, see you around.

Scene 2:

It's the next day and Addie and her friend Charlie are walking round the shops looking into the wide glass fronts and admiring the gifts.

Addie: I used to do this when I was a kid, sort of hang around and watch the guys.

Charlie: Yeah. We never really did much shopping in the end.

Addie notices the boy from the coffee shop up the street with his gang.

Addie: Lets go back that way, I…I'm not feeling too well.

Charlie: Hey, we've only just come. Are you ok?

She notices Addie's scarlet face.

Charlie: Oh I get it. There's someone there who you don't want to meet. Why didn't tell me.

Addie: Oh please Charlie.lets go back.

Charlie: It's a boy. Isn't it?

Addie: Its not…it's…oh fine, it is. Now please can we leave? Please.

Charlie: All right, just don't go scaring me again. Why didn't you tell me? I knew it was a boy. What does he look like?

Charlie goes into a long discussion about which boy is better. The personality type or the hot one. Addie sighs. "The boy was fit but did she really fancy him"

Scene 3:

Addie walks up the street, she hears footsteps but can't be bothered to look round.

Alex: Hey, I haven't seen you lately. Whats up?

She jumped and turns round.

Addie: Oh hi… can I call you Alex? I changed coffee shop, you know to a nearer one.

Alex frowned; he had seen her in the shop but much later on. Maybe she was avoiding him.

Alex: I was wondering if you wanted to meet up. You know. I've got a party next weekend, you can bring you're mates.

Addie: That'd be cool.

Alex: I'll see you at the café again after school. My mate Luke is nice he'll like that. I can tell you about the party then.

Addie: I'll see you there then, usual time.

Alex: yeah. Bye.

Scene 4:

At the café. Charlie and Addie sit talking nervously. Addie drums her fingers on the table nervously.

Alex and a brown haired boy walk in he eyes Charlie and smiles. Addie and Charlie stand up and greet them.

Addie: I didn't think you'd come.

Alex: Why?

Addie: Dunno.

Alex smiles. Addie notices that his dark hair falls softly over his face his dark eyes twinkling as if he is pleased to see her. It looked Kind of cute.

Luke: The parties at Alex's apartment. His parents are out. We're going to muck around, have a few drinks maybe even play spin the bottle.

Charlie: That's fine with me!

She winks at Luke who blushes violently.

Alex: It's at 10.00 all the way till 1.00. There's dancing and stuff like that. My mates are going so bring some of yours.

Luke: if you have any.

He smiles.

Scene 5:

Its 10 minutes before the party. Charlie appears on Addie's doorstep.

Charlie: You ready to rock?

Addie: Yeah! Lets go. We're meeting Tessa and Lea there.

Charlie is wearing a pale lilac skimpy dress. With her hair tied up. Where as Addie appears with a black of the shoulder dress. Her long dark hair hanging loose around her shoulders.

Later…Charlie, Lea, Tessa and Addie sit with Alex and Luke and their Mates Tom and Max.

Tom: It's spin the bottle next everyone upstairs.

They all sit in a circle nervously glancing at each other. The bottle is spun Lea and Tom…Tessa and Max…Charlie and Luke then its Addie's turn.

Alex leans forward and there lips touch softly and delicate the kiss lasts a short time then they break away.

Scene 6:

It's 10 to 12.00 and everyone is dancing except Addie. Alex walks over.

Alex: Will you dance with me? After all Cinderella only has 10 minutes before she runs away from her prince.

Addie laughs.

Addie: Do I have to? Come on…

The last dance is a slow dance… it starts. Addie rests her head on Alex's shoulder.

Addie: Alex?

Alex replies dreamily.

Alex: Mmm…

Addie: I love you.

Alex: I love you too.

Alex bends and kisses her. She smiles and returns it.

Addie: Thank you for the dance, but Cinderella has to go home now.

Alex: Not without a kiss goodnight.

Addie: Who says so?

Alex: I do.

They kiss…

Addie: Night.
