Fan Fiction ❯ The Confession ❯ One Rainy Night. . . ( Chapter 1 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
This is just a little something I wrote for a special someone. It'll be a one shot for now, but if I get some reviews saying you'd like to read more, I think I'll be able to write more. Also, this fiction was inspired by a drawing that the "special someone" drew. That said, please enjoy this and kindly review me!

"Aubrey. . . What are you doing here?"
Virgil had answered the door to find Aubrey on the other side. She was soaking wet from the rain pouring beyond the porch of Virgil's house. The sky was black of night. . . In this condition, Virgil thought, Aubrey will most likely catch her death. . .
"I came to see you, of course," she said, shivering.
"Are you out of your mind? You shouldn't walk nearly a mile in the rain!"
"Who says I walked?"
"You don't even have a coat on!"
"I couldn't find one. I was in a hurry."
Virgil sighed. "Let's just get you inside before you fall ill."
Aubrey nodded as she walked in. Virgil closed the door behind her. He took his blue coat from the coat rack near the door and held it out to her. "Here. Go upstairs and take those wet clothes off."
Aubrey slowly reached for the coat, as if she didn't know what to do. Virgil saw her cheeks grow pink and her necklace's faint glow from under her wet shirt. It began to shine brighter, but Aubrey put her hand over it to prevent the light from flowing out. "Umm. . . thanks." She made her way up the stairs clutching the coat to her chest.
As Virgil watched her go, he felt warmth. He looked down at his necklace. It was pulsing softly against his bare chest, just as Aubrey's was. He shook his head and seated himself on the couch and began to wonder.
She has to have a reason for coming here in the middle of the night. . . What could be on her mind? Why couldn't this wait until tomorrow? Does she want something from me? So many unanswered questions. He sighed. My head hurts. . .
He laid down, allowing his legs to hang over the side of the couch. He placed one hand on his head, and the other on his necklace. He took a deep breath, then closed his eyes.
"Are you okay?"
He opened his eyes to see Aubrey looking down at him, smiling. She had the coat on, clutching it with one hand to keep it closed. Her necklace, however, was over the coat, visible and glowing.
Virgil took his hand away from his head. "I should be asking you that question."
"I'm fine, don't worry about it. You, on the other hand, don't look to good." She gently put her hand on his forehead, and he could feel the warmth of it. Heat began to rise in his cheeks, but slowly died away when she withdrew her hand. "Well, you seem to be fine. You just have a headache then?"
His head began to throb. He didn't want to think about it. He stood up, tilting his head down to meet Aubrey's gaze. "Let's not worry about that right now. I want to know why you came here tonight."
"Oh. . . Well. . ." She started to walk to a more open space. "I wanted to tell you something."
"Well, how come it can't wait?"
"Because. . . I just have to let it out." She looked down at the floor.
Virgil was growing curious. He walked over to her and put his hands on her shoulders. "Well, what is it? You've come all this way. . . so just tell me."
She looked up at him. Her solemn gray eyes penetrating through Virgil's curiosity. They stared at each other for a long moment, and she looked down once again.
Why is she afraid to look at me? Do I intimidate her? All these questions are starting to get on my nerves. . . I wish she would just tell me. "Aubrey! What is it? Look at me!"
She hesitated, but did as she was told. Her eyes seemed like they were desperately searching for an answer in Virgil's. She took a deep breth. Virgil was astounded when he felt Aubrey's swift, sweet kiss. Although he suspected it, he did not know that the kiss would be so full of honesty and lust. She pulled away after a moment. All Virgil could do was look down and touch his lips gently.
"I think that says enough," Aubrey whispered. "Something as simple as this could've waited, I know, but. . . I just felt I had to do it now."
He looked back at her, recovering from his slight shock. "Aubrey. . ."
She pressed a finger to his lips. "I'm sorry I forced that on you. I wanted you to know that. . . that I love you. This is why I came here tonight, to tell you that. Now that it's said, I'll leave."
She dropped her hand and turned to go, but Virgil grabbed her shoulder. "You're not going anywhere."
She turned around and gave him a confused look. He let go of her shoulder and stepped closer to her.
"That was not something simple. That must've been a difficult thing to do. You were right to follow your heart and tell me this when you felt it was neccessary."
"I just. . ."
"No, don't speak. Now I want to tell you something." With that, he placed his hand softly on her cheek, and kissed her. Sensation filled his body when he did so, and he pulled away when he thought he might overdo it. Aubrey looked at him in a way that could not be described in words. "I love you, too."
They both smiled at each other, and both necklaces glowing bright.
"Well," Aubrey started, "I guess I should take my leave."
Virgil shook his head. "It's still pouring out there, and look at you. You only have a coat on."
Aubrey pulled the coat up to cover her bare shoulder. "You worry too much. I'll be fine."
"You gotta stop acting so stubborn. At least stay until the rain dies. You can do that much, can't you?"
She smiled. "I guess I could, but I will at least need a shirt to sleep in."
"No problem. I'll go get one. You can sleep in the spare room if you like." Virgil turned to the staircase.
"Oh, wait!"
Before Virgil could turn around, he heard a slight rustle of something falling to the ground, felt a soft touch on his shoulders, and a great sensation behind his ear. He blushed deply, recognizing that sensation as a kiss. Aubrey withdrew the kiss and placed her head on his back.
Virgil chuckled. "What was that for?"
"I wanted to know how it felt to do that," she whispered. "I've never done anything like that before."
She walked away and Virgil heard her pick up whatever fell on the floor. He turned around in time to see her slipping an arm into the coat.
He smirked. "C'mon, let's get you that shirt."
Aubrey smiled as she followed him up the staircase.
