Link, the hero of Hyrule, and now Termina, had just defeated Skull Kid who possessed the evil Majora's Mask, when he decided to go back to Hyrule and visit his friends in the Kokiri Forest. Link's trip was a smooth one, no burglars, no monsters, just him and Epona, the horse he won and saved from Romani Ranch. He drew closer to Hyrule and his excitement grew, knowing everyone would be thrilled to see him. As he got closer he saw a dark cloud, but he didn't think anything of it because the skies of Hyrule could get pretty dark during a storm or at night. At this point the castle was visible and Link looked at it, noticing something looked different about it. Suddenly Epona jerked back and threw Link off its back and onto the ground with incredible force. Link leaped to his feet and saw a skeleton monster, which must have been the reason Epona jumped back. Link pulled his mighty sword from his back and with two hands brought the sword horizontally across the mid-section of the skeleton, cutting it in half with ease. Two more skeleton monsters popped out of nowhere and started clawing at Link's back. Link withdrew his shield and pulled back his arm for a moment, letting a surge of blue energy run through the sword before he spun around at an incredible speed, cutting both of the skeleton monsters in half with his charged up sword.

"Where did they come from? I thought I rid Hyrule of evil! I better take a detour and get to Hyrule Castle and find out what exactly is going on here." Link exclaimed.

Link would then leap back onto Epona, and ride towards the Hyrule castle, as they got closer the cloud grew darker and dark as Link started to believe that the dark cloud which hung above Hyrule was more then just a storm or a natural thing. When he reached the front of the opening to the Market Place he saw that the drawbridge was up. Link started to regret giving his masks to the mask man as he thought of ways to get to the castle. It only took Link a moment to realize the door was wooden and that all he needed was a fire arrow. Link pulled his Hero Bow out of his inventory and placed an arrow in the firing position. Link closed one eye and pulled back his strong arm making the string tighter and the power of the arrow greater. He released his grip on the arrow after it powered up with fire and the arrow was sent directly into the middle of the drawbridge, burning it easily.

"Right on target!" Link said triumphantly.

Once the drawbridge was burned, the metal remained but there was enough space to leap through with Epona. He climbed on top of Epona and easily leapt the gap between him and the market. The market was trashed, windows broken and shops abandoned. The sky here was darker and it looked like a tornado had hit the market, destroying everything and everyone.

"What could have happened?" Link said.

Link rode on with Epona up the road and to the main gate where they would let you through into the field and the castle. Link noticed that the bars of the gate were mangled and twisted, as if some giant monster has ripped right through it.

"Epona, I don't want you getting hurt. You better stay here while I investigate." Link said as he pets Epona.

Link walked through the mangled gate and onto the field that, like the market, looked like a tornado hit it because most trees were broken and the ones that weren't were dead. When Link was a few yards away from the castle three Stalfos ambushed him. The Stalfos swung at Link with their wavy swords as Link leapt back and moved from side to side, dodging each swing as he withdrew his Gilded Sword and his Mirror Shield. On of the Stalfos would leap, raising its sword above its head with both hands, giving Link an open shot at his stomach, which he took, slicing the Stalfos in half just like he did to the monsters in the field. Link then pushed his sword forward in the direction of one of the Stalfos, but it blocked with its round shield and slashed at Link with its sword. Link would leap swiftly to the left, and the sword would strike the Stalfos in the head, which was about to attack Link from behind. The second Stalfos fell and the last turned around to see Link aiming an Ice Arrow at his face. Link fired the arrow and froze the Stalfos before shattering it into multiple pieces with a single movement.
