         The Experiment

         By
Salanti
This is a lesson of life. That most kids go through a lot and sometimes life takes its toll on them/us. It describes depression, bullies/guns,(though it doesn't mention it) and running away. Some of us may not know why kids do what they do but we do know that what they do has an affect on others. As you read my Poem, it will not have a pattern or rhyme in it.

         Courage is a flabbergasted experiment,
That causes us to do stupid things at times,
Not knowing of what we're doing,
Until we know of what we have done,
         Looking back at changed times,
Of how we have changed other peoples lives,
Whether it be of a small thing,
Or of it be of a large ordeal,
Never knowing until a person tells you of what you have done,
And saying Thank-you for saving some part of their dormant selves.

Looking back at a past life,
That I have ever-so-longed to forget,
         The darkness that shrouded me,
Made me forget what I had in front of me,
         A life of make-believe dreams,
But the cloud of Swarthiness was too thick,
So I had only seen depression,
Until a person came at the right moment,
And pulled me out of it and saved my mind of chaos,
They never knew what they have done,
         Until I told them thank-you.

         Finding out about his problems,
That he never wanted to know,
Running away from his enemy just to forget that he known,
         Being bullied,
         Being made fun of,
Pushing him to the edge and back,
Too clouded to see his future,
Too naive to believe that he could be saved,
Until a person came and helped him out of his misery,
They never knew what they have done,
         Until he told them thank-you.

She had already run ten miles,
Out of town and out of state,
Just to see how far she could go,
         Without turning back,
         Coming close to her destination,
But felt her heart skip a beat,
         She then realized her family,
They would be hurting to much by now,
So she turned back and went home,
Back to her family whom in open arms,
She never knew what she had done,
Until her family told her thank-you.

         For each of these people,
         Whom had done the "Experiment",
Have tested their boundaries in some kind of way,
The courage it takes to say thank-you,
May not seem a lot to you,
But in a way it is everything to them,
Until the person saves them from something,
Up to when they open their mouths,
So when you are done reading my poem,
You think about what you maybe reading,
Whether you need to say thank-you,
Or Someone says thank-you to you,
But for now I'll say thank-you to you,
         Thank-you for reading my Poem.
