Rebellion's Resurrection

Chapter 5: Punga Templum Unum (Battle Temple One)

The shell that had been built around the portal was naught but ruins, except for what looked to be a round portal, engraved with symbols of the Anubisian Church and with another blue crystal panel off to the side. This one had a number of buttons, each one with an Egyptian hieroglyph.

Once he checked that he was in the right place, he scanned further down on his list and found the code necessary to open the portal. The buttons beeped as he pressed them and then something clicked when finished.

For a few seconds after this happened, nothing happened. Then there was a loud whooshing sound, like air filling a vacuum, and the empty door way filled with glowing light.

The two people walked into the portal and suddenly they were somewhere else.

The building around them was nothing like where they had been before. Instead of open sky, now there was a Gothic style ceiling painted with images of the many great battles of the Anubisian battle church against the Beast's hordes, and where once had been the ruins of a building was now was a proud indoor garden blooming with fruit and flowers. Where once had been the foul, polluted air of a city under the thrall of the Beast was now clean, pure air.

"Hello? Is any one there?" Jon shouted, his voice echoing through the building.

"Who goes there?" Came a response from down the hall and there was the sound of guns cocking. Judging by the sound there were twelve of them, all armed with regular rifles.

"I am Jon, Scion of the Kesshi no Kami! I come bearing news from the outside!"

There was the sound of the guns lowering and of the men talking among themselves. Then the voice that spoke first responded, "Come but lay down your arms."

Once that was taken care of, the leader of the men who had confronted them, who identified himself as High War Priest Yuushi. "Sorry about the rude welcome, but as you most likely know, we can't be too careful. So what brings you to open the seal on the portal?"

"Well, Yuushi, the Beast has taken the whole planet under its thrall. Lucifer has offered to lend his support on the condition that I find troops of my own. Since you and your fellow warrior monks are the only warriors, and in fact people, besides my self and a few others, you are the only ones I can call on. This is what the Battle Church of the Anubisian was founded for." Jon gave his speech quite well and if one were to look at the warrior monks around him, that one would see that they agreed with Jon's reasoning.

"You do have a point…however, we hardly have the weapons or armor to mount a head on attack on Jerusalem and I don't..."

"If weapons are the only problem, I am sure Lucifer would be happy to supply your troops with better weapons and better armor. After all, it is also in his best interest to over throw the current world government."

Jon looked the battle Monks over. They were muscular, but not overly so, having the figures of athletes or martial artists. And Yuushi was right about the state of their armor and weapons. Their armor looked like it had been used since the "Final Crusade", and their weapons looked even older. The main weaponry of the battle monks were slug throwers (a futuristic name for modern ((Real life modern, not in story modern)) solid bullet ammo projectile weapons) and their armor was Kevlar, designed to protect against similar types of weapons. In a modern war (In story modern), they would not last mintues.

With Yuushi's word that the Rebellion would have his battle monk's support, Jon left the Battle Temple, sealing the portal again on his way out.

With one Battle Temple under his belt Jon and Melissa progressed to the second battle temple.
