"I can't wait for them to get here." a young man with dark brown hair and dark blue eyes. He was overweight, and somewhat short for his age considering he was sixteen and only 5 ' 6. He muttered to himself as he paced his room. Every few seconds he would look at the clock with a worried expression on his face. He tugged nervously at his black turtleneck shirt. Finally he heard the car door shut and he quickly hurried to the door to answer it. There standing before him was girl around his height with shoulder length brown hair and brown eyes. She was very cute with an attractive figure that would capture any guy's eye.
"Hey, I'm glad you could make it." the guy said as he hugged her tightly. "Is your mom coming?"
"She'll be back in a second she left something in the car." the girl replied as she set down her bags so she could hug him again. "Where's your grandmother?"
"She's in the kitchen cooking, why don't we head to my room til dinner's ready." the guy suggested as he wrapped his arm around her. "It's been so long since I've seen you. I've missed you so much. So what all do you want to do miss Brittany?"
"Well first off I've missed you too. I can't believe we're actually going to be able to have Christmas dinner together! I'm not sure really. Whatever you want to do Mr. Alex." Brittany teased as they walked to his room and started talking until dinner. Brittany could sense that Alex was nervous about something all through out dinner, but she didn't know what. Finally when dinner was over Alex excused himself before it was time to open up gifts so he could get some fresh air.
He quickly walked out his back door as he tried to catch his breath. The full moon shone down on him as he heard Brittany running behind him.
"Alex! Alex, what's wrong with you? We're about to open presents, are you okay?" Brittany asked first angry then worried. As she neared Alex she could tell how pale he was.
"I'll admit, I'm not feeling well." Alex said weakly as he rested against a large oak tree.
"Then that's even more reason for you to come inside." Brittany stubbornly said.
"I have to confess something Brittany. There's more than one reason why I wanted you here tonight. More than just the fact that I wanted to see you." Alex said as he smiled weakly at her.
"W-what...what are you talking about?" Brittany asked as she eyed him suspiciously.
"Brittany, you know how you believe in demons, fairies, and magic. Well, all of its real." Alex said with a glazed look in his eyes.
"Alex, what are you saying, your talking nonsense." Brittany said now worried as she looked around to see if she could call for help.
"Brittany, trust me." Alex said. All of sudden he doubled over in pain as he grabbed his head and yelled in agony.
"ALEX!" Brittany yelled as she rushed next to him. Before she could get close to him she stopped dead in her tracks as she starred at the person kneeling before her. He was wearing Alex's clothes, and when he spoke it was in Alex's kind, gentle voice, but this person wasn't Alex.
"Brittany, this is the one secret that I could never tell you, not until now." Alex said as he gazed at her. He was now 5 '8 with flowing white hair that cascaded down to the small of his back. His once dark blue eyes were now a pale blue that seemed to glow in the moonlight. His ears were pointed and he was slimmer and more muscular than before. "Brittany...I am a demon."
"Alex...you really are." Brittany said, first scared, then amazed, finally angry. "Why the hell didn't you tell me this!"
"Heh, because I wasn't able to use my full powers until now. So there was no point in telling you. But Brittany there are more important things to discuss." Alex said as he walked slowly towards her. "Don't be afraid, its still me."
"I'm not afraid. It's just a lot to take in. Its not everyday you find out your boy friend is a demon." Brittany said as she gazed at him.
"Brittany, tonight is the only night I will be able to return to the demon realm. You've always wanted an adventure, now I can give you a chance of a life time. If you want to go, I will take you to the demon realm." Alex said softly as he smiled.
"What...y-you mean, I could go where there are real demons!" Brittany exclaimed with joy.
"Yes, but I must warn you. If you go, you must have complete trust in me. For a human in the demon realm is forbidden, but that's not what I'm worried about. What I am however worried about is that demons might try to attack you."
"But...I mean, what will happen here?" Brittany asked as she looked back at the house where her mom was.
"Don't worry. A year in the demon realm is equivalent to an hour in this realm. If you don't like it there, you can come back." Alex replied softly. "But Brittany, for you to go to the demon realm, I must give you my mark."
"Your mark?" Brittany asked confused at what he was talking about.
"To put it simply, I have to kiss you." Alex said as he blushed slightly. As he ran his finger's through his now extremely long hair. Brittany was shocked at what he said, but couldn't help but giggle to see the person standing before her acting so shy.
"You see when I kiss you, a mark will appear on you that all demons can see. Any demons that are a lower class, or that are weaker than me will not touch you or get near you unless they have permission from me. For in the demon realm if someone has been marked that means that they will be with that person forever, that the person will be their mate. So if another demon touches their mate, it's pretty much an instant death." Alex said with slight hesitation.
"Well, just how many demons are there that are weaker than you?" Brittany asked with keen interest.
"Hmm, well lets just say there's enough to where I'd feel better if you had my mark." Alex said with a smirk. "I hate to say this, but I need your answer quickly. The times almost come for the portal to open to the demon realm."
"Hmm...well." Brittany said with a playful grin. "You'll protect me right?"
"Heh, yes of course I will." Alex replied softly.
"Then it that case sure! I'll go." Brittany exclaimed.
"Great." Alex said as he walked slowly up to her and wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close to him. She closed her eyes as she awaited his kiss. Alex gently kissed her lips as his eyes glowed in the darkness. Brittany felt a swirling sensation all around her as she closed her eyes shut, still being held in Alex's arms, and his lips were still pressed against hers. When finally he pulled away from her and she opened her eyes she found herself in an enormous dinning hall of what appeared to be a mediaeval style castle.
"Wow..." Brittany gasped as she looked around. Alex still held her in his arms as he gazed behind her at something.
"Ah, right on time my Lord." A voice said from behind Brittany. Brittany quickly turned around to see who the voice belonged to. When she did she found herself face to face with a demon that appeared to be a wolf. The demon kneeled on one knee as he starred at the ground. His ears were above his head and he was covered in black fur. He was wearing black pants, and a back vest that showed his fury chest.
"Rise Shadow, I have someone that I want to introduce to you." Alex said as he came up beside Brittany and wrapped his arm around her waist. Shadow stood up and looked from Alex to Brittany. He looked as if he was about to say something, but held it in as he gazed at Brittany with his glowing yellow eyes.
"I can tell you already know this, but she is a human. She has been marked by me...you know what that means. Now, I have some business to attend to, but know this; I want you to take good care of her. Show her around the grounds and introduce her to the rest of the staff. No matter what follow her every command, answer any questions...with certain exceptions." Alex said as he glared at Shadow. Shadow nodded knowingly as he waited for further orders. Alex turned back to Brittany who was still speechless.
"Brittany, I'm sorry I have to leave you now, but there is some business I have to attend to. It's been quite a few centuries since I was last home. Don't worry though Shadow is one of my most loyal servants he will make sure and take good care of you." Alex said softly. He glared at Shadow as he finished his sentence. Shadow gulped quietly as he looked back at the ground. "Also Kiba and Holly will help you if you need anything. Speaking of which, were are they?"
"My Lord, Kiba is arranging the council meeting tomorrow, and Holly is outside with the guards. We were attacked yesterday and many guards were killed." Shadow reported.
"What! Who attacked us?" Alex asked his voice harsh.
"With all due respect my Lord, we do not know. My Lord has made many enemies." Shadow said.
"Heh, well your right about that fact. More demons want my head for more reasons than I can count." Alex said with a small laugh. His laugh shook Brittany out of her daze as she looked up at him.
"Why would so many people want you dead?" She asked.
"Oh...well, that's another story for another time. I have some urgent business to attend to. I'm really sorry Brittany for leaving you like this, but I promise tomorrow I'll show you around personally okay." Alex said with sadness in his voice. "That is, after the council meeting, but I'm sure that will go okay. I have to go talk to Kiba before I leave, but Shadow take care of her okay."
Shadow nodded at his Lord's request but was slightly taken a back by his Lord's soft tone of voice and the concern that he showed towards this human. "My Lord, is there anything else that you request?"
"No that will be all. I'll be back for dinner okay." Alex said as he turned to leave. Brittany looked at him before speaking.
"Alex...I...don't think just because you have stuff to do that this means that you can just avoid me. I want you to tell me everything okay. Starting off with why he calls you Lord!" Brittany called out to him. Alex stopped and turned to look at her. He smirked slightly before waving good bye and promising that when the time came he would tell her everything. Brittany looked down at the ground for a second as she whispered softly. "Alex, come back."
Shadow heard her words but said nothing as he stood rigid waiting to see if she requested anything of him.
"Shadow was it? I'm sorry, Alex forgot to introduce us, I'm Brittany." Brittany said as she held out her hand to shake his. He looked shocked at her but quickly regained his composure.
"I am not allowed to touch my Lord, or his mate." Shadow replied calmly.
"Oh yeah, Alex did say something about that. But still he trusts you and all I want to do is shake your hand, which reminds me...why do you call him Lord?" Brittany asked determined to get some answers.
Shadow contemplated wether or not he should answer her question, but soon decided that since his Lord had instructed him to answer her that he should. "My Lord, is the ruler of the southern realm. All demons within the southern realms are to consider him their Lord."
"Wait...you mean Alex...my Alex...he's a demon Lord!" Brittany exclaimed.
