Brittany was fascinated by all the sights Alex showed to her. There were numerous creatures that she saw, that she had only dreamed about. Alex smiled at her curiosity as he lead her around the castle grounds into the forest behind the castle itself.

"Now, there is something I want to show you. Something...that I think you will like to see." Alex said as he whispered into her ear. Brittany looked up excitedly at him as she felt her breath quicken.

"What is it?" Brittany asked. Alex placed his finer on her lips to silence her as he led her deeper into the woods. He halted for a second as he closed his eyes. He smirked as he turned to look at her.

"Tell anyone about this, and I'll kill you." Alex said playfully. He removed his hand away from her waist and walked forwards away from her. "What I am about to show you...is something very rare, even in this world. There are very few of them left. Ever since the original demon lord came to power he tried to stop the demons from hunting them, but even his efforts were in vain. As you know there are demons, elves, dragons, and humans in this realm, but there are other...more elusive creatures."

"What do you mean?" Brittany asked with a confused smile. She was excited and wondered what Alex was planning. Alex turned his back to her and started saying something in a language Brittany didn't understand. She soon realized that what Alex was doing, was singing a song. Its...its beautiful. I didn't know Alex could sing like that. No wonder he doesn't want anyone to know. A demon that can sing. Brittany tried to suppress a giggle at the thought as she saw Alex motion for her to come towards him.

"Now you will see, what not even the demon lords have seen." Alex whispered as he wrapped his arm around Brittany and pulled her close to him. He pointed to the area in front of them. Brittany turned to look where he was pointing, and what she saw took her breath away. There before them, was a beautiful white horse with long white wings.

"A pegasus!" Brittany exclaimed in a hushed voice as she looked excitedly up at Alex. Alex smiled warmly at her.

"Do you want to ride it?" Alex asked playfully.

"Yes!" Brittany replied quickly.

"Your wish, is my command." Alex responded. Alex turned to the pegasus and spoke in the same language of the song he had sung. The pegasus seemed apprehensive at first, but then Alex said something in a whispered voice. The pegasus was startled at whatever Alex had said, but then lowered itself to the ground in a humble bow. "Now, if you wish to ride I will ride with you. I don't want you to fall, and if any demons see the pegasus they will not hesitate to kill it and whoever is riding it."

"Why do they want to kill it so badly?" Brittany asked.

"Drinking a pegasus's blood is said to help increase demonic power. Unicorn's blood will increase vitality and strength. Imps, fairies, all the rest of the mystical creatures have all been hunted to near extinction by the demons. Those that remain have taken refuge in the mystic forest. The only reason they are safe there is because there is a powerful barrier that demons cannot enter. No one is sure who placed it, but the only one powerful enough to disperse the barrier would be the archmage Alcadon, and he is dead." Alex said softly.

"Unicorns, fairies...wow! I can't believe all those creatures exist!" Brittany exclaimed. She then looked at Alex and then back at the pegasus. "If they are hunted by demons...why did it come to you?"

"Simple, it knows it does not have to fear me. I speak their language, a language that was lost long ago. That is the reason it came, because my song called it to me." Alex replied. "Now shall we?"

Brittany nodded excitedly as Alex led her closer to the pegasus. Brittany stroked his soft hair and Alex helped her on top of its back before situating himself behind her. "Ready?"

"Yes, I guess so." Brittany replied. Alex nodded as he spoke in the pegasus's language once again. The pegasus slowly rose as it began to walk forwards. It extended its massive wings and began to run. Brittany excitedly watched as they began to rise into the air. The wind blew across her face causing her hair to batter Alex in the face.

"Hey, watch it. Those things hurt." Alex joked as her hair whipped him across the head. Brittany turned her head slightly and laughed as Alex scrunched up his face as her hair grazed his nose. "That tickles."

"Oh, so demon lords are ticklish?" Brittany asked with an evil gleam in her eyes.

"I don't know what your talking about." Alex replied in a snobby tone as he held his head higher. He instantly deflated his pride as Brittany laughed harder. The pegasus flew faster over a sparkling lake as Alex gripped Brittany tighter so she wouldn't fall off. "Besides, why would you want to know if I was ticklish or not?"

"In case I wanted to find out in bed later." Brittany replied coyly. Alex gently kissed her neck as he whispered in her ear.

"Well, you'll just have to find out, now won't you." Alex whispered softly, sending shivers down Brittany's spine. Both the lovers were quiet as they became entwined in their own thoughts.

"I can't believe how beautiful it is here." Brittany said, breaking the silence as she looked down at the colorful terrain beneath them.

"Not nearly as beautiful as you, although I am glad you enjoy it." Alex replied softly as he rested his head on the back of hers, still holding her tight. It was then that he heard shouting from below. Alex peered over the edge to see what was going on. Several dark creatures were below surrounding four people in white clothes who were being driven towards a rocky cliff. "No...dammit!"

"Alex, what's wrong?" Brittany asked alarmed as she looked at the scene happening below. The creatures were slowly advancing towards the people, even though there was a barrier around them the creatures were managing to get through. Before Alex replied he spoke to the pegasus, who nodded as Alex turned back to Brittany.

"Listen, hang on tight okay. I can't let them get to those Clerics. Brittany, ride the pegasus till it lands, I will be home as soon as I can." Alex said as he positioned himself to jump off of the pegasus.

"Alex wait! I can help! I know I can, don't go." Brittany pleaded.

"I know you can, but I'm not going to risk it. I need you to make sure the pegasus is safe also in case there are anymore of them. Don't get off till he lands, don't do anything. As soon as you get to the castle get inside. Do you understand?" Alex asked as he glanced back down.

"Why, what's going on? Alex, what are those things?" Brittany asked seeing the serious expression on Alex's face.

"When you get to the castle, tell Kiba to get the guards ready and have them at their posts. Tell them...tell them...that wraiths have come." Alex said solemnly ignoring Brittany's question. "I've got to try and stop them before they get those people. Tell Kiba everything I told you."

"Alex, why are you acting so strange? These creatures can't be that bad can they?" Brittany asked quietly. She already knew the answer by the look in Alex's eyes.

"These are not creatures...they truly are devils." Alex replied as he looked at Brittany. He smiled faintly at her as he kissed her quickly. "Do not look back, go quickly. I love you Brittany." With those words Alex flew off of the pegasus and quickly began to descend towards the ground. Why the hell are they here? I thought all the wraiths were destroyed...so how did these come back? There are only four of them, but still.... Brittany, please be safe and don't worry. I'll come back to you.

Alex...you said you love me. But why did you say it, as if it would be the last time?
Brittany thought as the pegasus turned around and started flying quickly towards the castle. She looked back in time to see Alex land on the ground a few feet away from the wraiths. She didn't know why but tears fell from her eyes as she flew away. Alex, don't you dare leave me again. I can't bare to see you hurt again. It seems as if you're always putting yourself in harms way. I know it comes with the title, but...still.

Alex hit the ground hard which sent a shock through his body. He went to lunge at the wraiths before they could turn around when he felt something wet hit his cheek. Alex wiped it off and looked to the sky. A trail of tears followed behind the pegasus as it flew off into the distance. Brittany....

Alex was shaken out of his thoughts when one of the female's screamed when a wraith went to reach for her. In a flash Alex launched himself at the wraith, slicing it in half.
"I'm not usually in the habit of saving humans, but seeing as what's attacking you I'll reconsider this once. There is a castle to the south of here, go now and you might live long enough to thank me." Alex said without looking back. The wraith he had sliced in half was pulling itself back together.

"W-why are you doing this?" one of the male clerics asked as he helped the women to their feet.

"Because...you needed help. Now leave." Alex said as he turned partially towards them to usher them to hurry faster. It was in that brief second that the wraith's attacked. The wraith Alex had sliced in half quickly backhanded Alex into the cliff side, at the same time pressing its left arm against Alex's throat pinning him to the wall. The wraith raised its right hand like a dagger, pointing it at Alex's chest. Its hand began to glow dark purple as energy swirled around it.

"Now, you shall die." the wraith said in a dark, low, raspy voice.

"KIBA! KIBA!" Brittany shouted as she burst through the main doors, into the castle. As soon as he heard her calls Kiba came running, along with Shadow and Holly. Brittany collapsed in his arms as he tried to calm her.

"What's wrong lass? " Kiba asked softly. Her fear and worry was apparent in her body language as she spoke to him.

"Alex...he's fighting. He wants you to get the wolves into their battle positions and to fortify the castle." Brittany said quickly.

"I'll go do it." Shadow volunteered. Kiba nodded as Shadow ran off to get everyone ready.

"Holly, you better go too lass. They'll need you down there." Kiba instructed as he looked at her with a serious expression on his face.

"Yes, of course." Holly said. She gave one last look at Brittany before following Shadow.

"Now lass, what's going on?" Kiba asked.
"Its Alex. When we were flying, he saw some people being attacked by these black creatures. He jumped off to protect them, he told me to tell you...he was fighting wraiths." Brittany replied in an ominous tone. Kiba's body tensed as he heard these words. His voice lowered as he spoke.

"Are you sure you are correct lass? Are you sure he said he was fighting wraiths?" Kiba asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Yes! That's what he said. Now what are these wraiths? I didn't see them in any book I've read so what's so bad about them?" Brittany asked desperately needing some answers.

"I'm sorry lass, but if what you say is true I don't have the time to explain. I will tell you this, wraiths are like no other creature you will find in this realm. Even the Lord of the north is powerless against them." Kiba said gravely as he released Brittany. "Even now, it might already be too late."
