Brittany hurried down to the main hall where four people dressed all in white could be seen. Kiba, Holly, and Shadow were already there talking to them asking questions about what had happened. As Brittany entered Rylus passed by her and smiled.
"Hello my lady, how are you doing?" Rylus asked in a pleasant voice as he stopped to greet her.
"Hey Rylus, I'm fine. What are they talking about?" Brittany asked motioning towards the Clerics.
"They are talking about what conspired earlier today. I was listening in a little bit, it’s a truly fascinating story." Rylus admitted. "Well, I'd better go take care of some things so that the Clerics will be able to head back safely. Is there anything you need before I go?"
"No, I'm fine, but thanks." Brittany replied as she watched Rylus wave as he turned to leave. Brittany then continued towards the others as Kiba waved her over.
"This child right here is the Lord's mate." Kiba announced as Brittany nodded towards the Clerics.
"I still can't get over the fact that a demon, much less a demon lord saved us." one of the female Clerics mused.
"Aye, the Lord is not like many demons that I assure you. I can also tell you that it is because of this child right here." Kiba said, beaming as if he was a proud father. Brittany blushed slightly at the compliment as it turned the heads of the Clerics towards her.
"In that case we owe our lives, and the lives of our priestess to you and your Lord." the male Cleric spoke. "My name is Raphael. This is Celeste, Rachel, and the final one is Simera, she is our priestess. The fact that your Lord saved her life without knowing who she was is a testament to his character. I know he is busy, especially considering the fact that the wraiths have returned, but know this we owe him a life debt. If ever he needs us, the Clerics shall come to his aid."
Brittany was astonished by what Raphael had told her. Raphael was a man no older than thirty with long blonde hair, and golden eyes. Celeste had blonde hair, and dark blue eyes. Rachel brown eyes, and brown hair that came to her shoulders. All of them were beautiful, but Simera stood out among all of them. She had dazzling green eyes, dark hair, and naturally dark red lips. All of them were wearing white robes, with gold designs embroidered into them.
"Thank you, from both me and Alex...or I guess rather my Lord. Actually, if its not too much trouble he did have a favor he wanted me to ask you." Brittany asked hesitantly.
"Yes, of course, it would be our pleasure." Celeste spoke softly.
"He wanted you to teach me some of your magic. Healing spells, barriers, and purification. I already know a few spells, but he wanted me to know more in case the wraiths ever attacked." Brittany continued, still hesitant. Raphael looked sadly at her as he spoke.
"I'm sorry, but the magic of the Clerics is something we cannot teach you." he said. He truly was disappointed by the fact that he could not grant Brittany's request.
"No Raphael, we cannot stay here long but teach her what you can. I believe she will have great need of what you can show her. When the time comes, it may very well save her life. It is the least we can do." Simera commanded. She smiled warmly at Brittany as she spoke. "I must thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your Lord saved us, even though he was badly injured he still risked his life to protect us."
"He's like that. He might not want to admit it, but he doesn't like to see people get hurt. If its not too much to ask, could you tell me what happened?" Brittany asked. "I would really like to know. Alex won't tell me, and I don't want to ask him. He seems to be very depressed by the fact that the wraiths have returned, I don't want to bring up any painful memories for him."
"I understand. I shall tell you what happened, then Raphael can show you what he is able to." Simera said. "When your Lord landed, he sliced one of the wraiths in half, but of course you can't kill a wraith like that. As soon as he lowered his guard to tell us to run the wraith attacked him. It pinned him to a wall and stabbed him in the chest with his hand. Your Lord was barely able to break free of the wraiths grasp, but when he did he cast a spell, how I'm not sure. The spell cast a bright light that blinded even us. When the light dispersed the wraiths were gone and your Lord was on the ground coughing up blood and bleeding from his wound. We healed him, and he insisted we come back to his castle with him so that he could have his guards escort us back for our protection."
"Thank you, I'm glad everything worked out okay." Brittany replied. So, Alex wasn’t able to defeat them, but he was able to scare them away. I just wish I knew what was going on inside his head. Brittany was taken out of her thoughts when Raphael stood up and extended his hand towards her.
"Since the priestess has given me permission my lady, I suggest we begin as soon as possible." Raphael suggested. Brittany nodded in agreement as she took his hand and he led her outside.

Brittany was worn out from practicing all the spells and incantations. She had finally been able to grasp the basics of creating barriers, and was actually very good at it. When she came inside it was well past dinner, but Rylus had brought her some food outside while she had been training. Alex had seen the Clerics off and returned to his study, as far as Brittany knew that had been the only time he had left. She stopped by the kitchen and had some of the demons prepare a small meal that she could take up to him. She knocked softly on his study door, after getting no response she carefully walked in.
"Alex, you okay? I brought you some dinner." Brittany said cheerfully, trying to cover the worry she felt as she looked at him. Alex was intently studying the black spell book he had shown Brittany earlier. He was so involved in it that he hadn't heard her. It was until she placed her hand on his shoulder that he realized she was there.
"What are you doing?" Alex asked, the weariness in his voice was apparent as he lazily glared up at her.
"I'm bringing you some food silly. You need to eat, eating is good." Brittany replied with a giggle.
"I'll be fine. You need to get some sleep, I'm going to get you up early tomorrow so we can train." Alex said as he looked back down at his book.
"Uh uh, your not getting off that easily. Your tired, even demon lords need sleep. If you won't eat, at least come to bed." Brittany insisted as she grabbed his hand. She blushed, and quickly let go of his hand as she thought of what she was implying. "I-I mean...."
"Yes, that bed is just as much yours as it is mine. We can sleep in there without having sex." Alex said looking back up at her. "I'll be to bed shortly, go ahead, I'll be in there before you fall asleep."
"Promise?" Brittany asked, not leaving until she had his word.
"Will it get you to leave me alone if I do?" Alex asked as he raised an eyebrow in an expression of amusement.
"Possibly, I can't promise that." Brittany joked. Before she could realize what was happening Alex was pulling her into a deep kiss, one which hurt her lips and took her breath away.
"Fine, I promise, now go to bed." Alex whispered as he released her and returned back to his book. Brittany smiled happily as she gave him a quick hug before leaving and shutting the study door. She got undressed and threw on a red silky nightgown before getting into bed. Alex continued to study the spell book has time ticked by.
Alcadan, I know you left a clue in here somewhere. I need it now more than ever, its got to be in here somewhere. Alex thought as he rescanned the pages. After coming up with nothing once again he wearily placed to spell book back in the secret shelf and closed the bookcase. Oh well, she's got me so distracted I wouldn't be able to find it if I tried. With that Alex entered his bedroom and quickly undressed. He threw on his night pants and crawled into bed with Brittany. He couldn't tell if she was awake or asleep until he wrapped his arm around her and she pulled herself closer to him.
"I'm glad you came." She said sleepily.
"I told you I would." Alex replied softly as he kissed her.
"I know, I was just afraid you were going to leave again." Brittany continued, her voice was full of weariness and before Alex could ask what she meant she had fallen back asleep. Alex smiled at her as he pulled her closer to him so that she could rest her head on his chest. It wasn't long before Alex fell into a deep sleep, but his dreams were ones plagued with death, wraiths, and a black creature with white eyes.
"Hello my lady, how are you doing?" Rylus asked in a pleasant voice as he stopped to greet her.
