Fan Fiction ❯ The Four Lords ❯ Turning Foes to Friends ( Chapter 57 )

Alex was pacing back and forth in his study thinking about everything that had happened and all that they needed to do. Seated in his study was Kiba, Shadow, Holly, Rire, Baou, the lizard whose name was Yaza, the minotaur whose name was Scriar, and of course Brittany.
"So what exactly do you think we should do?" Kiba asked.
"Isn't it obvious? We should start forming our defenses and prepare for the attack tomorrow." Rire stated.
"What and be sitting ducks. No we should attack them head on." Baou interjected.
"If the Lord of the north enlists the help of the other two Lords we'll be bad off." Scriar said thoughtfully.
"Regardless we can't just sit and do nothing." Yaza argued.
"Why don't you shut up and let the Lord talk." Kiba yelled.
"Kiba's right. Let the Lord talk, he doesn't need all of you yelling at once." Shadow offered.
"In other word's be quiet!" Holly snapped.
"I don't take orders from you." Baou remarked angrily.
Brittany could see Alex tense due to all the arguing. It was already hard enough on him trying to think what they should do without everyone fighting. This is going to hell and back. Alex doesn't need all this and everyone's not helping by acting like children. If we want to have a prayer of winning we need to start acting like a team instead of acting like enemies.
"Everybody just shut up!" Brittany yelled. Everyone was surprised by Brittany's sudden outburst and stopped what they were doing to stare at her. Even Alex stopped pacing to look at her. "Listen we can't keep arguing like this. We're not enemies anymore we're allies and like allies we should work together. What's the point of joining our forces if we're not going to work together? What are we going to do attack Zanatos one at a time. So instead of arguing why don't you just shut up and let Alex think."
"I agree with her. We put our faith in the Lord so it's only natural that he should be the one to command us in battle." a voice said from the study door.
"Simera!" Brittany said excitedly. Simera walked through the door and hugged Brittany quickly before sitting down with the others.
"Sorry for being late. It has been a long time since the clerics have been called to battle so it took us a while to get ready. Now however, the clerics are here and at your service." Simera said with a slight bow towards Alex. Alex nodded and allowed a small smile to grace his lips.
Brittany was startled when Alex wrapped his arm around her waist before speaking to everyone. "Brittany is right about one thing. We do not need to be arguing amongst ourselves. That alone will lead to our downfall. Still, I understand that despite our best interest there will be some underlying resentment towards each other due to past experiences. That is the reason that I will not be commanding the troops."
"What!" Rire exclaimed.
"My Lord have you lost it? They've come to serve you. You must lead them." Kiba added.
Alex raised his hands to silence them. "No, I will not be commanding the troops and that is final. Instead you will break up into several sections and strike Zanatos's forces from all sides. Kiba you will command the wolf demons. Rire you will take charge of the elves. Yaza, Scriar, and Baou, you three will take charge of your own individual forces. This way by spreading out we can hopefully keep Zanatos from surrounding us and at the same time deal some crucial damage to him."
Alex paused to see how everyone took what he had just told them. He was glad to see that everyone seemed pleased by the fact that they would be commanding their own forces. "Now we will not stay in the castle and simply wait for him. That would be a death trap. He could surround the castle and then we'd be thru. Instead we will leave before dawn and get prepared to ambush him."
"I don't know. The Lord of the north is rarely taken by surprise. Especially with me escaping and coming to you he's sure to know that you might try something like that." Baou said.
"I didn't say we'd take him by surprise I said we'd ambush him. I know all to well that Zanatos is rarely taken by surprise. Still, we'll need to do something to help our chances of winning."
"Aye, the Lord has a point. We'll need every advantage we can get." Kiba agreed.
"So what do you want us to do my Lord?" Shadow asked.
"Tell the troops what is going on. The best place for out attack would be the Grandia region. Once there we will divide into our separate sections. Baou you will lead he frontal assault with Yaza and Scriar bringing up the sides. Rire I want you to take to the skies and give them a rain they'll never forget. Kill as many with your arrows as you can before going down to fight. Kiba, I want you Shadow and Holly to have the wolves positioned to bring up the rear. You are the fastest so it'll be easier for you to cover more ground than anyone else. Simera will create a barrier for the clerics to take haven in during the fighting. They will however be there if you need healing. Does everyone understand?"
Everyone nodded even though they were now absorbed by their own thoughts. Simera was the only one to speak. "My Lord, the clerics aren't just going to sit idly by while everyone else fights. We might not be as physically strong as you, but our magic is unsurpassed in forms of barriers and holy spells. The reason it took us so long to get here was because there was something we had to get."
With that Simera pulled out a medallion that was attached to a chain around her neck. The medallion was solid gold with red crystals imbedded into it. The red crystals formed together to look like a sun on her medallion. The crystals glowed softly as Simera held it.
"It can't be..." Rire said in awe.
"H-how do you have one of those?" Baou asked.
"I thought all of those were supposed to be destroyed." Yaza stammered.
"Well evidently that's two things Zanatos has lied about today." Brittany said. She looked up at Alex to make sure it was okay to tell everyone. Alex nodded so she continued. "We found one of those in Celeste before we started renovating it. It carried Zanatos's mark."
"So the Lord of the north didn't destroy his after all. That doesn't surprise me." Simera said shaking her head.
"Wait a minute. You're telling me that the Lord of the north still has his." Baou exclaimed.
"Yes, hold on and I'll show it to you." Alex said. He walked over to his desk and opened up a drawer. He extracted the medallion he had found in Celeste and showed it to everyone. The medallion was blood red with a black dragon in the very center.
"Well I guess you weren't crazy after all." Baou muttered. "I wasn't quite sure wether or not the Lord had made the wraiths himself or what had happened. All I knew was that he told me to take them and that they wouldn't harm us. I figured the Lord would never have had enough magical power to create one. Seeing that he kept his medallion however, I'm not so sure anymore."
"The medallions that the Archmage, myself, and Simera joined to create would give a novice like him enough magical power to create a wraith. It was for that very fact that everyone who was given one was supposed to destroy theirs." Rire stated looking over at Simera.
"Well it's a good thing I didn't. I, along with the ten other clerics that were given these medallions, held onto them. We prayed we would never have use for them again, but now it seems like we do."
"Still they were only supposed to be used in the great war." Rire insisted.
"I'm not sure that was the great war." Holly said softly. All eyes turned to her as she slowly began to explain to herself. "Think about it. Think about everything that's happened. The Lord's death plunged the world into darkness, the same darkness that everyone fought to defeat. The Lord's generals then divided the land further separating us and allowing them to gain more control over us. Those who tried to stand up to the new Lord's were instantly crushed. Look what happened to our Lord. The Lord's had the Archmage seal away his demonic power. Then the Archmage supposedly passed away, now we know that to this day he still alive. The Lord's have control over the mages now, and now it seems they also have control over the wraiths. A darkness far worse than that of Scion has taken control over this land."
Everyone was silent at what Holly had just told them. It was Brittany who first broke the dreaded silence that had fallen upon them. "Wether this was planned or not it makes little difference. Either way we're going to win. You won against Scion the Lord of Darkness, don't you think you can win against Zanatos. Once again the four realms have united along with the clerics and now hopefully Alcadan too. Do you really think Zanatos stands a chance against us?"
Despite the tense mood no one could help but smile at Brittany's enthusiasm. Alex kissed Brittany softly on the lips before whispering to her. "You're an even better leader than I am sometimes."
"Well I've learned from the best." Brittany teased softly. Alex then turned his attention back to the other's in the room.
"Tell them we will march there before sunrise so after you get them all sorted out let them rest. They'll need all the energy they can get. Don't stay up too late yourselves you'll need your sleep as well."
With that everyone slowly filed out of the room until only Alex and Brittany were left.
Alex rested against his desk as Brittany cuddled up close to his chest. Alex sighed softly dreading what tomorrow would bring. Brittany could easily sense his tension and lifted his face up so that he could kiss her. When she looked into his eyes she could tell that the day's events had really taken a toll on him. Already it was starting to get dark outside and neither one of them had eaten all day.
"You know you might want to take your own advice and get some sleep." Brittany told him.
"I'll be fine. I need to make sure everything is okay and that everything is done right." Alex replied as he tried to move towards the door.
"Oh no you don't mister! You haven't eaten all day and you need your rest to. Kiba, Holly, and Shadow will make sure everything is fine. They haven't let you down yet so why would they start now."
Alex had to admit that she had a point. The moment Brittany saw that Alex had given in she dragged him down to the kitchen and fixed them both sandwiches to eat.
"It might not be as fancy as what we usually eat, but it'll have to do." Brittany said cheerfully as she handed him a sandwich.
"Hey, I'm not complaining. Tomorrow our lives will change forever and I can't think of a better way to spend the night than with you eating sandwiches." Alex joked as he took a bite of his sandwich. Brittany's eyes lit up playfully as she set her sandwich down and seductively ran her hand across Alex's thigh bringing her hand close to Alex's crotch.
"I can." Brittany whispered sending shivers down Alex's spine causing him to almost drop his sandwich.
Alex felt his pants become uncomfortably tight as he looked at her. What the hell has happened? When in the hell did she get this much control over me? In two words she's managed to make me hard. This is ridiculous, I'm not complaining, but when did this happen? Oh well, what's the point in arguing.
The sandwiches were left on the kitchen counter partially eaten as Brittany and Alex raced up to their bedroom. In a matter of moments they had stripped and were together in pure ecstasy. Brittany had several orgasms before finally succumbing. She felt a warm sensation in her as Alex released himself inside of her. Alex leaned over and kissed her softly on the lips. He then gently pulled himself out of her and wrapped her in his arms.
"For you I'd slay a thousand demons." Alex said lazily.
"Tomorrow you might get the chance, but as long as you kill one demon in particular I'll be happy." Brittany replied with a giggle. They then fell to sleep in each other's arms. Neither one falling into a deep sleep due to the thoughts that plagued their mind. What seemed like only seconds later Alex was awaken by a soft glowing light.
When Alex opened his eyes he saw an astral form of a person standing before him. Alex shook his head to rid himself of the after effects of just waking up. Alex recognized the astral from immediately. "Alcadan."
"Come we have much to discuss and little time to discuss it." Alcadan's astral form told him. Alex looked back at Brittany who was awake now. She pulled the covers over her exposed chest and looked around sleepily. Alex reached for his pants on the floor and pulled them on before standing up and walking towards the large full body window. He opened the doors and allowed the cool night air to remove any effects of sleep he still might have.
"Tomorrow the fight for the realm will begin. Just whose side will you be on?" Alex asked getting directly to the point.
"I have made a grave mistake, I see that now. I can't believe I never saw, but I must ask you. Are you really him?"
"What do you think?"
Alcadan nodded before continuing. "There's no mistaking it. I am sorry, if only I had known."
"There's no point in apologies. What's done is done. Now I know you wouldn't have come unless you had something important to tell me. So what is it?"
"There's a spot in Zanatos's fortress one which you should be able to use to enter his fortress without him knowing."
"What do you mean?"
"There's a magical entrance that only the mages know about. If you use that and get your forces inside you would be able to catch him by surprise."
"I'd also be able to free the elves before he could do anything. Their magic would help us tremendously."
"Exactly, but if you do this you must hurry. I will guide you as far as I can."
"When will you come?"
"There are some things I must attend to. Still, there is something that I believe I should give to you. At the very least it should help considering the seal." the astral projection of Alcadan held out his right hand. There was a flash of light and suddenly there was a large broadsword resting upon it. The sword was almost as large as a human person and had several black designs on the sides of the blades. The black hilt had two rubies encrusted on it that gave the handle the appearance of a face with red eyes. On the very edge of the blade there was a name written.
Alcadan looked over at Brittany before speaking. "This sword belonged to the original demon Lord. It has his name inscribed on it. It has tremendous power, I hope it will serve you well."
"Thank you Alcadan." Alex said as he took the blade. The letters inscribed on it spelled out 'RAZRIEL'. When Alex looked up Alcadan's astral image was gone. He turned to look at Brittany who was already almost completely dressed in her battle clothes. She was pulling on her last glove as she smiled at him.
"I take it we're leaving." She said playfully.
Alex smiled and nodded. He raised the sword up to examine it. "I believe this is what you call divine intervention."
Author's Note: You've asked for it, you've waited patiently for it, and now it has finally come. No more delaying the war that has been brewing from the very start. Now there truly is no turning back, but this I can assure you. Thing will only get better once they get a hole lot worse. By that I mean, when they reach Zanatos's castle only pain awaits them.
