Fan Fiction ❯ The Four Lords ❯ The Truth Revealed ( Chapter 66 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Everyone watched in morbid silence as Magnus began his tale. “It’s time you hear the truth about these Lords you loved. How easily you were manipulated and controlled. It’s truly pathetic how easy it was. How eager you were to believe anything that was told to you by your new Lords. The ironic part is that those who you had every right to hate you honored and revered. The one you revered and honored you hated and despised.”

“Silence Magnus! There’s no use dragging up the past!” Alex roared causing everyone to jump.

“Magnus, Magnus was a name fabricated by me to get closer to Alcadan. There is no Magnus only Scion. Besides Razriel don’t you want them to know what to you? Don’t you want them to know all the Hell you’ve been put through all the torture they’ve inflicted on you? Don’t you want them to know how the mighty Scion defeated you not by strength but by knowing your weakness. The weakness Alcadan gave to you when he performed a forbidden act.”

“What’s he talking about?” Brittany whispered looking up at Alex. He never said anything about that? What does Scion know that Alex doesn’t?

Scion’s smirk increased as he saw the confusion register on Alex’s face. “This is too good to be true. Wait it out Razriel and I’ll tell you what makes you so special.” Scion sneered at Brittany before continuing. “I was hoping that it wouldn’t come tho this. I had wanted more control before I revealed myself. Seeing as how that’s impossible due to that damn mate of yours Razriel, I will reveal to you the mastery of my plan that brought the entire realm to its knees.”

“Like I give a damn about you or your fucking plan!” Alex yelled angrily.

“Oh, but you will, oh but you will.” Scion promised. “Let me take you back to that day, the day of the so called great war. Razriel the demon Lord led his armies against my wraiths. Although Alcadan’s finding a spell to turn my wraiths flesh and blood was highly unexpected, it mattered little. My victory had long been assured by my alliance with your generals.”
Scion eyed Alex maliciously before continuing his speech. “Even though you stopped me from creating the other crystals by creating that damn barrier around the forest I still managed to create one. The one that was your most powerful crystal of all. The one that called for the hearts of a hundred phoenix. The crystal of resurrection.”

“Resurrection? Is that even possible?” Kiba asked, astonished by what Scion had just revealed. He looked at Alex and shook his head in amazement. “I guess it must be. How else could you be here before me.”

“Yes, resurrection was possible. Alcadan created that crystal for me along with the others so that I would be able to face Scion. When the secrets of the crystals were discovered I had Alcadan place the barrier around the forest to protect the creatures inside from senseless hunting. Enough of them had already been sacrificed to create my crystals. Even though they sacrificed themselves willingly, it was still wrong to do so. I wasn’t about to let anyone else take advantage of the creatures to create the crystals for their own personal gain and I sure as Hell wasn’t going to let anymore of them perish at the hand’s of power greedy demons.”

“If Alcadan knew about the crystal of resurrection why didn’t he tell anyone when we thought you were dead?” Shadow asked.

“Because I cursed his crystal before my supposed death. You never even made the connection did you? Why Alcadan was so eager to end my life. How the secrets of your crystals was revealed without you telling anyone. The reason that to create the crystals it required a blood sacrifice.” Scion said evilly.

“What the Hell are you getting at Scion?” Alex asked his irritation and anger at not knowing was growing by the second.

“The fact that I was the one who first revealed to Alcadan how to create the crystals!” Scion yelled.”It never occurred to you that your own precious Alcadan was so powerful because he knew both the light and dark sides of the arcane arts. He never revealed to you about his subconscious connection with me. His subconscious connection with his brother!”

“Brother....” Brittany heard the words fall from Alex’s lips as he stood still, shocked by Scion’s words. “There’s no way.”

“Now I see the enlightenment in your eyes. We used to work together before we went our separate ways. I became a necromancer, he became your personal pet. That is why I knew the curse that would affect your crystal. Where as your crystal should have revived you instantly when you died, the curse I placed on it slowed down the crystal’s effect. Alcadan thought my curse had destroyed your crystal instead it made it to where you could become my puppet.”

Scion stopped for a brief moment to let all that he had just revealed sink in. “You see during our battle when you killed me and I cursed you, you didn’t realize that your four generals had positioned themselves to strike at you once I had fallen. You were already severely weakened by our battle and became easy prey to the combined might of your generals and my wraiths. It was too easy to play off that you had died a hero, slaying the evil Scion and saving his realm. It was Celine who thought of that. Despite what you were lead to believe she was the one most loyal to you out of your generals until the very end. It took Silva’s mind control to finally convince her. Now, after your supposed death it was only a matter of time before you were revived. Hence the reason I created a collar that would make you unable to use your demonic powers. We placed that on you and had Silva suppress your memories and generate new ones for you. That allowed him to control you, and me to control him. My plan was fool proof. Everyone thought you were dead and that I had followed you into the grave. I changed my appearance and began studying under Alcadan. The emotional old fool was too upset at the loss of his beloved Lord to ever begin to suspect that the student before him who was so willing to learn from him was actually his own brother. Since no one knew what your human form looked like, or if you even had one, no one would’ve guessed that the monstrous warrior of the southern realm was really Razriel. It was perfect, or at least it would have been if Zanatos hadn’t gone on his own personal rampage against the wolf demons. When he went after them and fought you, the blundering fool broke your collar. This one act allowed you to access your demonic energy and before you made it back to Silva’s castle your demonic energy had gathered enough to where you were able to retrieve your stolen memories.”

“Imagine my surprise to find out the group of people I trusted the most besides Alcadan, they were the one’s who betrayed me. Needless to say, Silva wasn’t thrilled to discover that I had regained my memories. He tried to kill me, but he was no match for me. He got exactly what he had coming.”

“You precede yourself. Before my little tale is over you’ll realize everyone in which you placed your trust in has betrayed you. Some in more ways than you could possibly imagine.” Scion said with a gloating smile causing Alex to growl in warning. “Once I found out about Zanatos’s actions and of Silva’s early demise I knew it would only be a matter of time before you would try to reveal your true identity. My plan would’ve been ruined if I didn’t do something quickly. It was that reason that I had Zanatos create his little council meeting for you. The reason why I ensured most of the realm was there to witness it. You thought you’d be able to proclaim to all what happened. Tell them who you really were.”

“Instead I walked into my own death sentence.” Alex said bitterly as the memories of the event washed over him. Those around him hung their heads in shame as they recalled the incident in gruesome detail. They now saw the event in a whole new light and were appalled by their actions.

“I see your loyal subjects remember it. They screamed for your blood. The moment you walked in you were subdued by myself and the mages leaving you unable to summon your demonic energy and transform into your demonic form. You couldn’t speak, you couldn’t move, Hell you could barely breath. The only thing you could do was stand witness to your own punishment. They found you guilty for killing the Lord and thus Alcadan, with my guiding influence, placed the seal on you. The only permanent solution to the dilemma which was you. That seal was truly ingenious calling upon both light and dark to bind your power. To add insult to injury he then placed the subjugation spell on you giving those who betrayed you complete control over you. I’ll admit your will power was truly amazing. After all the torture and Hell we put you through you were still strong. The death chamber alone should’ve been enough and it did come close. You were in such a state I thought you might’ve turned into a regressed demon. Instead you ended up in a comatose state. Still somehow you managed to survive. You came out of comatose and wanted revenge. Even with your dilapidated power you still fought with us. Finally, it was decided that the best course of action would be out of sight, out of mind. People were growing suspicious of your rebellious attitude and why we kept punishing you if you were supposed to be a Lord. Thus we banished you to the human realm. We were hoping without your demonic powers you’d die there before your time to was up. While you were gone we managed to turn the entire realm against you. Branding you as one of my followers and one who hated the original Lord. Don’t you love that sense of irony? The only one’s we couldn’t turn against you was those damn wolf demons. Zanatos’s little hunting trip through their territory made their hate and contempt for him almost as great as your hate towards him. When you returned with a human mate I knew you were up to something. Had I known of your knowledge of magic I would’ve instantly known that you had placed your demonic energy inside of her. I knew you could use some magic, but I didn’t know how deep your knowledge of the arcane arts was. Her presence here proved to be the downfall of my plan. Your will was broken when you left. We broke you! So what in the Hell gave you the nerve to rise up against me?”

“You’re right Scion. There was no logical reason for my actions. Had you not banished me to the human realm I might’ve surrendered to you and become an obedient lap dog of your just as the other Lord’s had. The fact remains however, that you did send me to the human realm and what I experienced there changed me. I had every intention of doing my time in the human realm and returning to the demon realm content with being on of the four Lords. Even though it meant giving up my pride, that was better than dying at the hands of those who quite literally stabbed me in the back. It wasn’t until I met this girl right here that something inside of me awakened. When I ruled as Razriel that was with a desire to win, to defeat you. When I met her I felt a need to protect, something I had never felt before was that uncontrollable urge to protect someone. While I was human I fell in love with her and with my love my pride returned. I studied the magic of the human realm and combined it with the magic of the demon realm and found a way to defeat your subjugation spell. That was one hurdle overcome. Even so I had no intention of starting a war. I brought her here so that she would be a vessel for my powers, or at least that is what I thought. I soon realized that I couldn’t stand to be without her. I had truly fallen in love with her. When she came here she saw what I had refused to see. She saw the living Hell this realm had become. Her innocence and naivety to the horrors of this world is what sparked the fire in my rebellion. At first I fought to protect her, to save the one I loved. I then fought to save those who were close to me. My subjects, my servants, my friends. I then fought to protect those who had once condemned me. Finally, I could no longer sit by while this realm was slowly being ruined. In order to answer your question the reason I am able to fight, the reason I came back stronger than before, was her. She gave me the strength and reason to fight. With her here I had something to fight for. She taught me a lesson in the human realm. Humans who fight for those they love, their strength knows no bounds. So in the end, what caused your plans to fail, was this human girl who even though she didn’t know what in the Hell she was getting into when she first came here still stood firm against you. It is because of her unbending will and stubbornness that kept her alive and kept her strong no matter what she was put through. It was her bright and optimistic soul that shed light into the darkness. You have lost Scion, and it is because of her.” Alex said glaring at Scion and never once taking his eyes off of him. Brittany beamed proudly at all Alex had just said about her. She felt her heart nearly burst out of her chest as he placed his arm around her and continued. “It’s over Scion, you’ve lost.”

“Not quite Razriel. My plans were just sped up, you haven’t one yet. What you have failed to realize is this.” Scion said waving his hand towards the plains behind him. “In all this time since the great war I have been creating wraiths. By combining and harvesting the powers of the elves I was able to increase the production of the wraiths by a hundred fold. Also sneaking into the barrier and killing a creature or too helped in the process. So you see Razriel, there’s no chance in Hell that you can win.”

Alex’s eyes widened in shock as the entire horizon behind Scion was filled with the forms of wraiths. Their numbers were so large you could see them everywhere, as far as the eye could see. Scion’s smirking face beamed at the sight of everyone’s frozen faces. “Now you see what Hell truly is Razriel. Alcadan can’t save you now, and if you cast the spell to turn them flesh and blood it’ll hurt you even more than if you fought me. Does your mate really possess the power to cast that spell? Once you took your demonic powers out of her it drained the source of her incredible magical abilities.”

Alex’s steely gaze met Scion’s fiery one and he smiled. “Only one way to find out. Brittany, you think you got it in you to cast one more spell.”

Brittany nodded slowly and closed her eyes. Here’s hoping. Wait, I wasn’t even there to hear the spell!

Brittany looked up at Alex her eyes widening in shock. “Alex....”

Don’t worry, you’ll be fine. I’ll be here helping you. Alex thought.

Brittany’s eyes bulged in shock at being able to hear Alex’s thoughts. What...how in the Hell?

A last gift from Alcadan. Now close your eyes and hold my hand. Alone we won’t be able to do it, but together we can.

Brittany nodded and grabbed Alex’s hand. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath as she felt a new surge of power sweep over her. In a unified voice both her and Alex began to cast the spell.

“What!” Scion yelled as he heard the spell being cast. No, they’ve merged their energies into one. Dammit, I don’t believe it!

The moment Alex and Brittany finished the spell a bright light flashed from them and swept over the army of wraiths. Brittany smiled brightly at Alex but soon realized something was wrong. She could tell that something caused Alex to be weaker. His demonic energy had decreased slightly. “Alex what’s wrong?”

“I don’t know, but we don’t have time to worry.” Alex instructed as he turned towards the demon army. “You once fought under my command against these same creatures. I ask you now, will you fight again?”

Yells echoed throughout the ranks as the demons rallied behind him. Alex nodded and looked at Kiba. He placed his hand on Kiba’s shoulder and smiled. “Fine then, if you will fight for me, then I ask you now to fight for him. Scion is my enemy, and as my enemy I shall fight him. Kiba will command you, don’t worry you’re in good hands.”

“My Lord.” Kiba exclaimed shocked at the statement.

“It’s Alex Kiba. That’s all I’ve ever wanted you to call me. You’re a far better leader than I am. Besides, I have my own adversary to face.”

Kiba nodded and barked orders to the troops. They immediately began to form ranks and were soon ready and formed for battle. Kiba clasped Alex on the shoulder and pulled him into an embrace. “Don’t go dying on me Alex. You’re like a son to me. I couldn’t bare to lose you.” Kiba whispered through tears. Alex nodded slowly and patted Kiba on the back.

“The same goes for you Kiba. Don’t you dare die on me.” Alex replied softly. Kiba smiled and turned to Brittany. He, along with Shadow and Aurora hugged her quickly.

“Take care lass, both of you.” Kiba said.

“Be well, we don’t want to return to corpses.” Shadow added.

“Make sure he doesn’t go and kill himself Britt. Be safe.” Aurora said crying.

The emotional tension preceding the battle was unimaginable. Alex watched as Kiba marched the troops towards the wraiths, leading them to a battle that would be nearly impossible to win.

Brittany couldn’t sense Alex’s turmoil. One part of him wanted to help them, but another part knew the best way to help them would be to defeat Scion. Brittany rubbed Alex’s arm and kissed him on the cheek. “Have faith in them just as you did me. They have faith in you. Don’t worry, everything will be fine. Now go get him.”

Alex nodded slowly and started towards Scion who during this had only stood by and watched with an amused expression. When Alex started towards him Scion held up his hand. “Before we begin, don’t you want to know why you suddenly feel weaker Razriel?”

Alex stopped and eyes Scion suspiciously. “What do you mean?”

Scion’s eyes took on a malicious tint as he continued. “Who says history doesn’t repeat itself? The same mistake you made last time is what enabled your generals to defeat you. Haven’t you ever wondered why spells made only to affect wraiths also affect you?”

Brittany didn’t like the look in Scion’s eyes as he said this. She knew something was up, but she wasn’t nearly prepared enough for what he was about to reveal.

“The reason my dear Razriel, is because you are a wraith.”

Author's Note: So what do you think? One last surprise for ya. One last thing to reveal. Now, for the final battle. Which reminds me, since the final chapter was so long I'm dividing it into four separate chapters, so you'll get the final part of the chapter tomorrow. Kudos.
