Fan Fiction ❯ The Four Lords ❯ The Loss of Love ( Chapter 68 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Kiba used the momentum of his fall to spin himself, allowing him to slice and kill for wraiths on impact.
Shadow twisted around and stabbed a wraith in the chest with his sword. He spun around to kill another wraith, but the wraith broke the blade in half and lunged at Shadow. Shadow threw the broken blade at the wraith, impaling it in the forehead, killing it instantly. Holly flipped over another wraith and cut it in half with her sword. She grabbed onto Shadow's arm as he ran towards her. Using their combined momentum he swung Holly around allowing her to decapitate the wraiths that had surrounded them. Yaza and Scriar fought ferociously. Scriar killing two or three wraiths with the enormous axe he wielded. Yaza's spiked blade unhooked forming a chain sword allowing him to spin it around himself and to lash out at any wraith that neared him.
Everyone fought silently side by side, risking only slight glances at one another to show their support. After what seemed like an eternity of fighting to no avail, Kiba was covered in his own blood and breathing in gasps of pain. His lungs were on fire from pain as the wounds he had incurred from rescuing Simera and from unnoticed wounds he had received from his entrance into this fray, began to take their toll on his body. His movements were becoming more and more sluggish as the wraiths seemed to close in on them. His vision was blurred by the sweat and blood that dripped off of him. Kiba blocked a wraith's attack and stabbed his claws into the wraith's chest. Kiba threw the wraith towards Scriar who easily cut him in half. It was then that Kiba saw a wraith descending upon Holly from behind. Holly was too preoccupied with the wraiths in front of her to sense the other's presence and Kiba knew she wouldn't realize it in time.
Shadow too saw this wraith, but he was too far away to do anything. He tried to call out to her, but she couldn't hear him over the sounds of the battle. Kiba reacted on instinct and launched himself at the wraith. Kiba realized there was no way he'd be able to take down the wraith before he got to Holly, so he did the only thing he knew he could.
"Kiba!" Shadow and Holly yelled in unison as they heard him yell in pain as the wraith plunged its hand through Kiba's chest. They both tried to fight there way to him knowing that he wouldn't last long if they couldn't get to him. The wraith lifted Kiba into the air by his chest and raised his other hand to finish Kiba. Before he could strike the final blow upon Kiba a spear pierced through its chest and flung it away from Kiba. Kiba crumpled to the ground as blood poured from his body. Baou hovered above him in the air with his great wings sending shockwaves through the wraith's ranks. He mowed down the wraiths with his spear allowing Shadow and Holly to run to Kiba's side. They didn't look much better than Kiba for they too were covered in their own blood but they could tell Kiba's wounds were far worse than theirs. Baou, Yaza, and Scriar positioned themselves around the three wolf demons. Fending off the wraiths so that Holly and Shadow could be with Kiba. Tears fell from their eyes as Holly cradled Kiba's head in her lap. Kiba coughed up more blood as Shadow turned on Baou.
"Where in the Hell were you?" he yelled.
Baou didn't even look at Shadow when he replied. He instead pointed behind him. "I was freeing some of Zanatos's pets."
Shadow looked in the direction that Baou was pointing to see the forms of drakels and dragons filling the night sky. They tore into the wraiths with pent up rage, killing as many as twenty wraiths with a single blow. It seemed possible that the tide of the battle might be turning.
"Kiba...why?" Holly asked softly as her tears pelted his cheeks. Kiba smiled softly at her as he spoke. His words were barely audible above the sounds of war.
"I know how it feels to lose the one I love. I couldn't let that happen to you two. You mean too much to me." Tears fell silently from Kiba's eyes as he continued. "I wanted to see the lad one more time, to tell him how proud I was of him. He was like my son, I loved him as my own. In a way, he and the lass filled the void in my heart after my wife's murder. Tell him and the lass not to be upset, and that I'll be watching them both now and forever. Now I'll finally be able to be with Celeste again."
Kiba's eyes seemed to light up with fire as his eyes glazed over. "She looks so beautiful now."
Those words made Holly's and Shadow's hearts stop cold. "Kiba, stay with us. Don't leave us. You can't leave us now!" Shadow yelled.
Kiba looked at Shadow slowly and nodded. "Give them Hell...."
"Kiba! Kiba!" Holly screamed as he closed his eyes.

Alex dodged the fire that erupted from around Scion. Alex didn't dare use any of his magic for fear that it would do more damage than good. Every time Alex managed to get in close enough to Scion he was blasted backwards by Scion's powerful barrier that encompassed him. Alex back flipped away from Scion only to have the ground beneath his feet come alive and grab at him. Alex twisted in mid air to see hands made out of dirt holding onto his legs. Alex slashed at the dirt but it was barely to any avail. When Alex finally managed to break free of his sandy imprisonment he immediately crouched down to avoid a fireball that Scion had launched at him. Scion's black and red eyes glared at Alex from behind his barrier. His staff was stabbed into the ground in front of him. Both of his hands were surrounded by fire which he threw mercilessly at Alex. Alex ducked beneath one, and was forced to throw himself to the side to avoid another. Before Alex could regain his footing and move he saw another fireball coming straight towards his chest! Alex instead shifted his weight and moved to where the back of his right hand would be able to deflect the blast.
"I thought you were smarter than this Scion. You should know that these pathetic flames won't hurt me." Alex said with a confident smirk. The moment his fist grazed the flame his confidence was lost in the chaos that followed. Alex yelled in pain as the flame exploded, covering his hand in flames. Alex reeled in shock and pain, covering his burnt hand defensively. Vapors of smoke rose from his hand as he examined it in shock. The flames had nearly burnt all the skin around his hand completely off. Enabling Alex to see the bones in his hand. The pain was nearly unbearable as the flames crept slowly up his arm. Alex glared at Scion who grinned evilly at him.
"What the Hell was that? That's not any fucking spell I know of." Alex yelled in anger and humiliation. I shouldn't have been so cocky. This is Scion I'm dealing with. I can't afford to slip up. With him you always have to expect the unexpected. It seems he has indeed become more powerful since our last encounter.
Scion smirked with satisfaction as he spoke. "That was but the first of my chaos spells."
"Chaos spells?" Brittany silently mouth as she watched the battle. Alex, be careful okay. I've never heard of chaos spells before, and if they can hurt you they must be pretty powerful.
Scion enjoyed seeing Alex's face contorted with a mixture of pain and confusion. He glared at Alex with complete confidence as he continued. "Chaos spells are the ultimate fusion of light and dark. Hellfire, the strongest of the dark arcane arts, burns through any living thing. Still, with your unnatural resistence to spells due to your unnatural creation, it is only natural that something more powerful would be needed to take you down. Thus, by combining the purifying flames of the light magic and the Hellfire of the dark, I create something not even you could defeat. The purifying flames disable your healing ability and break down your demonic aura allowing the Hellfire to work its course. Granted it's not as effective as if you were a normal demon, but I like this just fine. This is but the first of my chaos spells Razriel. Let's see what you do against the rest of the power of chaos."
Alex didn't have time to question his words before he was met with another barrage of fireballs. Not only was Alex dodging fireballs, but he soon found himself also dodging lightning blasts and strong blades of wind that tore into his flesh. Alex slid to a halt only to be knocked backwards by an enormous fist made of sand. Another hand of sand snatched Alex out of the air and pulled him towards the ground. Alex yelled as energy coursed through the sand sending jolts of electricity through Alex's body. Scion then charged up an enormous fireball and grinned at the imprisoned Alex.
"This ends now Razriel." Scion said as he launched the fireball at Alex.
"Alex!" Brittany screamed as she ran out from her hiding place. She was too far away to do anything but watch in horror as the fireball collided with Alex. Brittany's terror soon turned to rejoice as she watched Alex leap from the flames and land nimbly on the ground. Without any hesitation Alex lunged at Scion who was still seemingly in shock at Alex's escape. Before Alex could even reach Scions barrier he felt something wrap around his neck, and then his arms, waist, and legs binding him to his spot. Alex could barely turn his head to look down at the black chords that bound him. Blood dripped from the chords as they cut deep into Alex's skin. Alex winced in pain as the chords cut into the flesh and bone around his burnt had. It took all he had not to yell in pain.
"Try as you might Razriel. Your brute strength will never overcome the might of my magic. The threads of fate will bind you to the spot, and the swords of time will end your life."
Brittany watched in horror as swords materialized out of thin air and encircled Alex. Alex, I've got to do something. If I create a barrier he might....
No, don't do anything Brittany.
What are you crazy? I'm not going to watch as you die Alex!
I'm not going to die. Listen, his spells are too powerful and since I have no idea of what he's casting I can't defend against them. The only way I'll be able to stand a chance against him is if I use the Devil's Armor, but that take's precious time and concentration that I don't have right now.
Then let me help. I can distract him.
No! Don't get involved Brittany. This is my fight and I don't want to risk you're getting hurt. If I'm worried about protecting you I won't be able to concentrate on what's going on. Just trust me, I'll be fine.
You'll come back to me right?
Yes, I'll come back to you.
Scion closed his right hand into a tight fist, and suddenly the swords all impaled Alex at once. Brittany closed her eyes and looked away as blood spurted out of Alex's body from where the swords were sticking out of him. Alex yelled in pain, his vision blurring from the extreme amount of blood loss he was sustaining. Scion smirked proudly as he snapped his fingers. Alex's eyes widened in realization as he saw the sword's begin to glow.
"ALEX!" Brittany called knowing that she couldn't stand by any longer. The moment she took a step towards him she was blown back several feet by a shockwave that was emitted by the exploding swords.
No, please God no. He can't be dead! Brittany thought as she scanned the ground searching for Alex. The smoke from the explosion was so thick that she couldn't see anything. When the smoke finally cleared what she saw made her blood run cold.
Scion was standing behind Alex, a thin fiery string resembling a whip extended from his two front fingers and wrapped around Alex's neck like a collar. Scion was pulling hard on the string pulling Alex's head back and forcing him to choke. Scion bent closer to Alex's ear and whispered proudly. "I told you, you're might is no match for my magic. You were and always will be a soulless monster. I look forward to having your mate once you're dead. She will prove to be a fine queen for this realm. Her knowledge of magic is very good. It is obvious to see how poorly you ranked her abilities. Magic is what created you, and magic is what will kill you."
"Newsflash Scion, I'm not going to die at the hands of a weakling like you. Also, there's no way in Hell I'd ever let you get your hands on Brittany. By the way, here's your fucking magic!" Alex said as blood dripped from his lips. Alex placed both his hands on the ground and cast a spell. "Tengoku-teki bakuhatsu!"
Scion's eyes grew big as the ground around them began to glow. Dammit, I didn't know he knew the celestial spells. Fuck!
Brittany watched what Alex did. She silently thanked God that Alex had managed to escape Scion's clutches, but at the same time she was worried because he had used a powerful spell. With his body in the condition it was it wouldn't take much more before he was unable to fight.
Scion dispersed the barrier he had create to shield himself from the blast. He looked around angrily to find Alex. Scion cursed in rage as he turned around to see ten identical Alex's standing around him. Each one had his eyes closed as blood red tentacles burst from his skin and began to thread their way around his arms.
Wow that's awesome! Way to think on your feet. With those shadow illusions he won't be able to tell which one is the real you until it's too late. Brittany thought with a relieved grin.
"Heh, nice move Razriel, but you don't honestly think I'm going to let you use your Devil Armor do you? You're going to have to do better than these cheap illusions to save you. Especially considering, I can sense you!" Scion launched the thin fiery wire from his fingertips once again. The wire sliced through one of the Alex's which faded into nothing on impact. Scion's face was full of anger, rage, and confusion. This is impossible. I can sense his energy. So how in the Hell did I miss ?
Author's Note: I'm going ahead and telling you now, I finished the epilouge just in case you want one. Still, I must admit I am a little dissapointed in myself : (. I wanted this story to be really really good, but I don't really like the ending I wrote. Let me know what you think please. The next chapter is the very last one besides the epilouge, game over, it's through. So let me know what you think. I wanted to write another one that tells what happens, and I think I have a pretty good idea of what to write, but I'm not sure if I should. So for those of you who are reading this I would really appreciate the imput. Thank you all.
