The Greatest Nightmare
Chapter One: Warning

I have never feared death.
Only a fool would fear death.
I am NO fool.
Haha, I forgot my place.

I am Sarah Coshimatsu, only survivor of the Coshimatsu massacre. I don't think it would ring a bell to you. Would you like to hear my story? Yes? No?
If not I dare say you must close this book and look for a book with a better, more…happier, tale.
My tale is bloody, depressing, and (though I think it isn't), very romantic. So says my love, Siegfried.

Ah, once more I trail off. I'll start where it all began… and how.

It was a mild, clam day in our little town of Caroline. To the East, Mountains, to the West, the sea. The skies were blue, clear of all clouds. It was in the forest in the shade of a willow tree, some black berry bushes surrounding me. I was a young woman of 16 and was betrothed to the village chief, Hilmar. He was an old man, about 56 years old. It disgusted me. I was to marry an old man! A Ver-cos-ce! Um…I mean an ugly brute.
We spoke our own language, `The Tongue of Elements' it was called. Because, we could summon fire, earth, wind, and water to our will. One element to one person. Somehow, I was unlike others. I could summon all four. That's was why I was to wed Hilmar, because he controlled both wind, and fire.

Uh…Back to my tale… I was out picking some wild blackberries for the annual harvest festival. (It would be anything but a festival… if it was a festival… it was a festival of blood.)
I had just filled my basket with berries and was dozing under the old willow tree deep in the forest, where few would dare go because of wolves… I always went there. The wolves actually were like pets… They played with me, hunted with me, like any other dog. My favorite white wolf Snowfall and her mate, the black alpha, King, slept to my right, like a fuzzy bundle of fur. Their white and black female pups, Diana and Luna, slept in my lap, two smaller bundles of fuzzy fur.

I was about to fall asleep when King got up and nudged me to do the same. By this time, his mate and pups were also trying to nudge me out of me half slumber. When I came too, King bite my sleeve, and dragged me towards the village, Snowfall and her pups stayed behind. When we closed in on the village passing trees, bushes, and other plants, I saw many animals running AWAY from the village. I then smelt smoke. Not the kind from wood, but from flesh, the kind you get from meat. I ran faster only to close my eyes in horror.

The village was gone.
