A Kiss Means Everything

A tall, slim girl twirled drearily across the dance-floor. Her blonde hair, which was tied up in a fancy way: with a cherry blossom clip, swished from side to side. The girl's emerald green eyes sparkled from behind the pink mask she was wearing. She was wearing a slinky number from Chanel. Her dress was a light pink and it sparkled slightly. It was the night of New Year's and she was at a Masquerade Ball. Suddenly a man in a black suit and tie walked over to her and held out his hand, bowing.

"Would you like to dance?" He said gracefully. "It would be my pleasure." The girl replied. The boy wore a black suit and tie, and black shoes. He had a white dress shirt underneath and a black mask over his face, covering his manly features. His eyes were amber coloured and his hair was black. The girl took the boy's hand and he pulled her close to him. Their hands were entwined and the girl's right hand was on his shoulder, while his hand was on her hip.

They twirled neatly across the dance floor, staring deep into each other's eyes. The music started, the notes began pouring out like water.

The girl smiled happily. The boy grinned. Suddenly, a loud voice shouted across the room. "Everyone! Let's start the countdown to New Year's! 10!"

"9! 8! 7! 6! 5! 4! 3! 2! 1! Happy New Year's!" The boy and the girl chanted in unison. "Everyone knows what girls and boys do at midnight, don't they?" Handsome boy grinned cheekily. "Yes." She answered hoarsely. "I do." Her cheeks coloured underneath her mask. "Come here then." The boy pulled her in really closely to him. He leant forward to her and kissed her lightly on the lips. The girl flushed again. Strawberry flavoured the boy thought cheekily. "What are you thinking about?" She asked him. "Never you mind." "Okay. I have to go soon you know." "Oh, gee, that's too bad." "I'm sorry. I'll never forget you." "Me either." The girl kissed him on the lips this time, only harder. "Goodbye." As she walked off, the boy whispered, "Wo ai ni." Then he remembered something. "WAIT!" She stopped and turned around. "Yes?" "Here." The boy handed her a locket. It was silver and on the front it had an engraved rose. It had a red gem on it. The locket was shaped as a heart. "Thank you. Goodbye." She hooked it around her neck and left.

Our story begins now, the story of a girl, Katie and a boy, Ray.

The girl who had been at the ball smiled. Her name was Katie Tachikawa. It had been a full week after the ball and how she missed the boy she met. She had never even learnt his name. Katie sighed. In her hand she held a locket. It had a red gem in the front. "I'll never forget that boy." She was sitting down at a bench in the park. It was Spring and flowers, trees and the grass were in full bloom. Katie was eighteen. She stood up from the bench and began walking home. When she arrived at her apartment building, Katie entered and walked into the elevator. She pressed 15 on the pad and the elevator took her up to Floor 15. She walked out of the elevator when it stopped and opened the door to her apartment.

As soon as she arrived, Katie darted over to her computer and switched it on. A box popped up. "You Have Mail." "Oh!" She cried, her eyes shining. Katie clicked on Check Mail and another box came out.

A few minutes later the doorbell rang. Katie ran over to the door and opened it.

"Hello!" She cried as she saw the man.
