Chapter Twelve
A Little Territorial

Kale shot to his feet suddenly. His chair toppled back behind him and hit the floor with a clatter. Sala shot him an angry glare. The young man beside her looked slightly by the stranger that looked so angry. Yent picked up his plate and hopped down from where he sat. Kale grabbed at the table and flung it to the side. Glass shattered on the floor and patrons shouted angrily.

"C'mon you worthless piss ant!" Kale growled. "It's just you and me, shit heel!"

"Kale!" Sala shouted angrily.

"I beg your pardon?!" Frax shouted, backing quickly away. "This guy is insane!"

Kale bared his fangs, advancing on the human before him. Frax tripped over a discarded chair and hit the floor with a cry of pain. The little Giggat sat on the bar, eating his dinner and laughing at his master's misfortune. Sala leapt between the two men and held Kale by the shoulder. The Draegan male growled and snarled at the cowering man behind Sala.

"Let me go!" Kale snarled. "I'll rip him to pieces."

"On what grounds?" Frax demanded, rising to his feet and brushing off imagined dirt.

Kale leapt at him. The human yelped and jumped back. Sala pushed Kale back and slapped him across the face. The Draegan male looked at her, snapped out of his drunken rage. Sala glared at him.

"Enough." she said flatly.

Frax cleared his throat. "Well, I have never been more insulted!" he said angrily. "I bid you good night, Lady Sala."

Sala nodded and watched him walk away. Kale growled loudly as he moved past him. Frax let out another fearful yelp and hurried away. When Frax was gone, Sala glared at Kale then stormed to their room. Kale watched her go, ignoring the angry glares the the alewives and patrons passed his way.

"Damn that fucking rat bastard of a human!" he swore under his breath and hurried outside.

The cool air hit his face and helped smolder his temper. Summer was fading here in the more northern regions of Ravika. Kale moved off of the porch of the inn and walked down the empty streets. Why had he gotten so angry? Sala could talk to whomever she wished.

"But that human irks me!" he growled, shoving his hands into his pockets.

For about an hour Kale walked around the small town of Dasic. When he got back into the inn, it was empty. He moved towards his room and crept to the bed. Sala's figure could be made out in the darkness. He knew that she wasn't sleeping. Kale stripped off his clothes and lay down beside her. Sala moved away from him.

"Don't be angry." he whispered.

Sala turned, propping herself on her elbow so she could look at him. "How can I not be angry?!" she demanded. "You brought attention to us. We agreed to keep ourselves quiet."

Kale wrapped an arm around her neck and pulled her down next to him. "Can I make it up to you?" he asked. "Please."
He kissed her neck softly and she shivered. Kale moved down her neck and chest. He took one nipple into his mouth and suckled slowly. Sala moaned, letting herself be pushed back onto the soft matress. Kale continued his suckling.

"Not tonight." she said softly.

Kale pulled away slowly. "Not even a little fooling around?" he asked.

Sala laughed. "Go to sleep, Kale." she said softly, running her fingers through his hair. "We have to leave early tomorrow."

Kale sighed heavily. "Fine." he said, laying his head on her bosom.

Sala closed her eyes and fell asleep. Kale kissed her breast and willed himself to relax. She was here with him. That human was nothing to her. She was all his. Kale nodded to himself and fell alseep. Sala was his territory. No other man would touch her.
