Chapter Fourteen
Demand
Sala sat in the squashy arm chair, watching Kale toss and turn in his sleep. She had been right about him needing a doctor. Two of his ribs had been broken when he'd been slammed into the mountain side. Dark circles formed around her eyes from lack of sleep. For five days they had stayed at the Purple Giant Inn and she still hadn't gotten any wine in her belly.
Kale groaned in his sleep. "Sala." he moaned, slipping back into unconsciousness.
She closed her eyes. All she wanted was a little wine but there was no way she could leave Kale alone for anymore than a few moments. With a heavy sigh, she continued her vigil. She had to be here when he woke.

Frax drained his last bit of beer from his mug and slammed it down onto the table. Sala was pissed at him now. It wasn't his fault that the stupid fool had gone and gotten himself hurt. When Kale had changed into that wolf, Frax knew what they were. He had thought that they were only fairytales to scare the children of his village.
"Excuse me." a seductive voice said behind him.
Frax turned. A young woman of no more than eighteen stood there. Her clothing, what little there was, were made of a black, shiny leather. Long brown hair cascaded down her back in a wavy mass. Frax felt his mouth drop open a bit.
"Yes?" he asked.
The young woman moved slowly towards him to show off her curves. Frax swallowed hard. This woman was so beautiful. She made of flourish of moving aside the back of her tiny leather skirt as she sat down in his lap. Frax felt his member grow as she wriggled her butt on his legs.
"I can help you get rid of your little problem...for a price." she said.
Frax gave a silent gasp when she caressed his growing member. He shook his head to clear the cloudy haze forming. His heart was Sala's. Frax rose to his feet, sending the woman falling to the floor with a thud. Yent, coming from the bar with food for his master, laughed softly when he saw him retreating to their room.
The young woman pushed her hair out of her eyes and huffed angrily. Yent walked up to her and smiled. His master may have been a fool, but he sure wasn't.
"Hello." he said.
"Hi." the young woman said.
Yent winked at her and the young woman giggled.

Kale woke when he heard Frax come into his room. He opened his eyes and glared in the human's direction. Why was he in here? Kale propped himself up on his elbow despite the pain it caused him.
"Lay down." Sala ordered.
"Why's he in here?!" Kale demanded.
"Some woman tried to get me to pay her for sex." he explained.
"Scared of women, too?" Kale asked, smirking.
Sala shook her head. "Enough of that. Kale give me some money." she said.
"Why?" he asked, grimacing as he lay back down.
"So I can go buy a sword." she said.
Kale shook his head. "No." he said. "You don't need a sword."
"Fine." Sala said. "Then how about a dagger or two."
Kale shook his head.
Frax pulled some large bag of coins from his pocket. "Here, my lady." he said, tossing it to her. "Spend it well."
Sala pocketed the money and moved to the table on the left side of the room. She picked up a bowl of soup and brought it to Kale. He glared at her. Let him sulk if he really wanted to. She shoved the hot liquid into his face and he took it reluctantly.
"What's in it?" he asked.
"Herbs to aid in your healing." she said.
Kale sniffed it and gulped it down. The bowl slid out of his hands and he fell back down onto his pillows. Sala kissed him quickly on the forehead then moved towards the door. Frax stared at Kale in amazement.
"Sleepweed." Sala said as she pulled open the door. "He'll be out for a while."
Frax nodded, smiling as she left. She was speaking to him once again. Frax sat back in the chair, enjoying his tiny victory.
