Fan Fiction ❯ The Legend of Zelda: Frozen in Time ❯ Chapter 1: The Disapperance ( Prologue )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

This is the first piece of fanfiction I have written for Legend of Zelda. I have been working on this piece for awhile now, and I've finally finished the first chapter. This story takes place after Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, but the happenings of Majora's Mask are never mentioned because they do not take part in this story. I will probably go back and edit this later, but for the moment, this is how it is written. My Microsoft Word is acting up, so if words are split down the middle, I am sorry. I will try to correct this problem soon. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I know it isn't exactly 1,000 words, but it will become longer when I get more ideas. Please read and review.

Disclaimer: I do not own any places, ideas, or characters that were mentioned in the Legend of Zelda games. On the other hand, I do own any new characters never mentioned by the creators of the game series, the new places mentioned, and the original plot of this story.

Legend of Zelda: Frozen in Time

Doom. That was the only fate forseen to the species known as man as the ancient kings of the past fought alongside their warriors in long, bloody battles. Those wars would end eventually, but more

would take their place. More would follow as their technology grew; along with their hatred for eachother until they were all destroyed.

Death. It would end in this, but not soon. No, they had some more time, but things would only

get worse, not better. What about the Earth though? Should the earth be left barren or should another species inherit the earth? This is the question that plagued the three goddesses of the heavens, Nayru, Farore, and Din. Then, the Council of the Heavens decided for them. They were to create their own species; one that would not repeat the flaws of mankind. Thus the elf species rose as the future recievers of the earth. The humans must never find out though. For if they did, the hope for a peaceful earth may shatter. And so, a hidden land was created for them to reside in until the day they recieved the Earth and restored it to its natural state.

To make sure nothing killed off this race, the three goddesses bestowed gifts upon three elves. These gifts included Courage, Power, and Knowledge. As time passed, and those who held these died

away, the gifts were passed on to the most worthy. Unfortunately, not all who recieved the goddesses' gifts used them correctly. Many wars broke out among the elves, but their race never diminished.

One such incident included an elf known as Ganondorf. Pledging false loyalty to the king of

Hyrule, he gained power, and eventually, took over the land. The child who held the power of Courage,

Link, sought to defeat Ganondorf. Aided with the help of Princess Zelda, a mysterious Sheikah, his fairy, and many others, he dicovered his true past and stopped Ganon from ruining the future. Ganon was

locked in the Triforce's Shadow Realm, and from then on, Link was known as the Hero of Time. Peace

reigned once again, and everyone was happy.

1997

It was around this time that it began. Link's life had been going happily. His parents had been

returned to him, and they all resided in Hyrule, which was ruled by a fair king. If only the images had not

began, things might have remained the same......

In Link's fourteenth year, a young human girl had stumbled into the land of Hyrule. She had

quickly made friends with Link, his escentric fairy, his friend, Shin, and later on, with Princess Zelda.

Unfortunately, just weeks later, Link and his friend, Shin, just ... snapped.

They claimed to see words written in blood, ghostly people who fortold their demise, and

shadows moving just out of their vision. Things worsened, but no one would believe them because

they could not see it too. Then one day, Link and Shin just disappeared.

"Are you coming Link?"

"No, we're going to walk in the woods."

"Do you want me to go with you?"

"No thanks, Navi. We'll be fine."

"Okay."

As the three girls watched Link and Shin's backs retreat into the forest, they didn't know that this would be the last time that they would ever see them.

" Don't be so blind..."
