Chapter one:
Riku walked up to Hallow Bastion with his Soul Eater at his side. His bangs shaded his face as he stopped at Rising Falls. The crashing of water could be heard as they went upwards over the falls. A slight breeze in the air was about, though a bit cold, chilling as it brushed against his face in a snide manner.
He looked up to one of the platforms, the wind breezing by making one of his aquamarine eyes visible. He narrowed his glace at the unknown who was standing atop a platform.
The unknown took a step closer to the edge and fell head first, then a black portal opened up as the unknown fell and disappeared into it then re-appeared in front of Riku face to face.
“Why won't you give up, Riku? You belong with us, need us. Your life will and never go back to the way it was”, the unknown spoke in a deep taunting voice.
Riku remained were he was standing although he was a little surprised on the trick that the unknown had used but didn't express it on his face and kept it to himself. He gripped his Soul Eater tightly and swung it at the unknown creating a black wave of energy emitting from it that raged forward 10 feet. But the unknown had read his attack and had gone up before he swiped at him leaving an after-image that looked like if he had never leapt up making an illusion that he was still there to confuse him. He landed behind Riku and swung his arm and in less then a second Riku had flown away crashing into the water hitting his back and slipping down onto the floor.
“Do not be foolish, your heart has darkness within it, thus making it belong to darkness, in no way will you be able to live the life of light again, it is futile Riku, do not throw away this gift that you have received”, the unknown uttered from beneath his hood as he took a few steps towards the attacked teenaged boy.
Riku hissed as his neck and back ached from the unknown's strike, he couldn't believe that he had read his attack and evaded it. No one had been able to stand up to him; he refused to let himself be thrown like a rag doll. Riku gripped his Soul Eater again and with a bit of a struggle he stood up straight dusting off his shoulders and scoffed.
“Heh...gift you say...bull, this is more like a curse than a gift, it's the reason why I lost my home…. friends…everything, and here you think that you can just come up to me and tell me to give myself into darkness again? Go find yourself another damn person to fool, promising them power and freedom.”
He gave the unknown his arrogant smirk and brought up his Soul Eater near his head pointing forward putting his foot back getting into his battle stance ready to put up a tough fight.
The unknown chuckled at Riku,
“You think you stand a chance again me? You amuse me boy, although you don't have a possibility at even being a good match”, the black cloaked unknown took a step towards Riku, he then slowly raised his hand with his palm facing the silver headed boy, and unleashed a powerful dark blast which the caused the recoil to push him back a bit. The large black orb of darkness flew straight at Riku with tremendous speed with a visible current of air spiraling around it as the unknown took a few steps back after he shot the blast waiting for Riku's response attack.
Riku slightly clenched his teeth together as he felt the incredible force at which the blast came at him, he couldn't just let this man order him around; he had to stand his ground and deflect his attack. He lowered his Soul Eater and bought up his right hand, his palm facing towards the dark blast attack. In the center of his palm a small void of darkness began to develop quickly as the blast came rushing at him, the void became alive as darkness started to sprout out from it, tentacle like shadows reaching out, Riku kept his gaze at the blast, and as is came nearer and nearer with each passing second he waited until the distance was perfect, he made his Soul Eater vanish from his hands as he quickly brought it up his left hand to hold his wrist and discharge a considerable amount of darkness from the void aiming at the very head of the blast which collided with it making an huge blast altogether making a sort of explosion of darkness and waves of energy fly out in different directions with small independent orbs of darkness shooting and floating in the air.
The unknown took a few more steps back so he wouldn't get hit by the orbs. Soon after came an aftershock that sent a wide horizontal current of purple energy in both Riku's and the unknown's direction. The unknown stood unmoving, the wave heading straight for him. Only a small flash of yellow light could be seen emit from inside the darkness of the hood, coming from his eyes. The unknown wasn't worried about the aftershock wave; the light that came out from his eyes flew out towards the flash piercing straight through it making it slowly disintegrate as it would come to a halt in front of his face.
Riku, glaring at the unknown, crossed his arms in front of his face balling up his fists stiffening his arms and muscles making a force field in front of him to prevent the aftershock of hitting him. The shock rammed into the force field and bounced up to the sky and disappeared within the a couple 100 feet. Riku looked up as the shock wave vanished then turned his attention back at the unknown and lowered his arms back to his side.
“Very good Riku….I am very impressed. I didn't think that you would be able to defend your self, let alone deflect my attack…” the unknown told him with a bit of satisfaction at Riku's strength.
Riku smirked and placed one hand on his hip and with the other hand he put his thumb on the tip of his nose and flicked it arrogantly,” Well, guess I'm not as weak as you thought.” He looked straight into the darkness of the hood and brought his hand down from his nose and summoned his Soul Eater back.” Who are you and what do you want with me? I'm done with The Organization; I want nothing more with them.” He told him sternly.
The unknown simply stood there, Riku, not being able to tell if the unknown was looking at him or not. He let out a small chuckle and walked over to Riku. As the boy lifted up his sword to attack the unknown waved his hand to the side making the Soul Eater disappear from Riku's grasp which produced a small intake of breath from the boy's lips.
Riku took a step back and growled through clenched teeth at him, he was stunned, how did this unknown make way of my Soul Eater if I am its wielder, who is this man exactly? He questioned himself as he drew back as the unknown came closer. He backed up against the wall, now cornered, and made an attempt to punch the unknown, but the unknown easily grabbed his wrist and twisted it pulling Riku closer to him.
“My, Riku, you sure have grown, your complexion is as perfect as it was-” he was interrupted by having a glaring Riku spit at his face and violently pulled away his hand.
Riku kicked the unknown in the ribs with such vigor that it forced the unknown to stumble back.
“Who the hell are you!? You're cracked!” he yelled at the unknown infuriated and confused. He clenched his fists and gave him and irritated stare.
The unknown wiped his cheek of spit as Riku laughed inward at what he had done, though he was bothered by this man, on how he knew so much about him. This unknown…he knows too much, how? Who gave him all this information about me? ...It's almost as if…he knows me…. Riku thought to himself. He kept his distance and slowly walked around the unknown, again summoning his Soul Eater into his grasp ready to strike at any given moment.
The unknown had his face turned to the side, the hood covering it, and chuckled and looked up following the startled boy's movements. He stood up straight and, though his head was still down, took a step back.
“Riku, do not forget that you are the one who will open the door to darkness, Sora is destined for light, and you dark, two that cannot be combined and never will be.” He advised Riku as a large portal of darkness opened up behind the unknown, and lifted up his head as strong wind passed by causing the hood to shift and reveal two orange eyes that pierced through Riku.
A small gasp escaped Riku as he stopped dead in his tracks wide eyed seeing those pair of unbearable eyes that seemed to watch your every movement, as if they could see right through you and haunt you in your sleep. Riku froze were he was standing as a sensation of familiarity, unsettling, and bloodcurdling emotions washed over him right when he saw those eyes. He stood there transfixed by them, his body starting to somewhat shake.
“It-it can't be…” he nearly whispered as the unknown smiled underneath the hood seeing the boy's reaction.
The unknown laughed and turned his body to the side.
“Recognize? You should, after all what happened to you will repeat itself again. Just remember, Riku, you will be consumed by darkness, everything will be, that I promise, and so you should be careful not to let anyone grow on you, this by far will be a battle of Hearts.” He finished as he faced the portal and stepped in it, the darkness burst out and enveloped the unknown's body in darkness and disappeared without a trace as a small portion of darkness remained and went up like smoke into the sky, being taken away by the passing breeze.
Riku stood there wide eyed his hands shaking, a small droplet of sweat rolled down his face. Images of blood spill and screams of pain roared through his mind like a tornado tearing everything else apart. He fell to one knee, grasping his head breathing heavily, a man with those same orange eyes as the unknown flashed through his mind, laughing the same way the unknown did. That image changed into a boy on the ground with a puddle of blood around his body. Riku shut his eyes and shook his head, sweat flying off his face.
“It can't be....it can't be him, it couldn't be, he's dead…” he told himself through gritted teeth, his shoulders shaking as he tried to calm himself down.
“Those eyes….they're so very familiar….they can only belong to-” he stopped and grasped his head tighter, yelling in pain as the image of those orange eyes became bigger, the face to who they belonged to becoming clearer only to choke on his breath then fall unconscious onto the floor and letting go of his Soul Eater, it lying beside his body.
The wind stopped. The sound of the rising falls quieted somehow and all became still. Riku's body lay on the floor, slightly breathing, and his hand twitched a bit as his eyes remained half opened looking dull and blank, his silver hair falls in his face, covering it slightly.
Just then a shadow heartless came up, its antenna waving in the air fidgeting. It carefully walking over to the unconscious boy and examining him. It drew back slightly and went back into the shadows and disappeared. A couple moments later a huge black ring flashed out from the ground around Riku. Like a raging fire, it danced around his body, coming closer and closer to until he was engulfed in the darkness. The fire of darkness covered him and sunk into the ground with Riku, not leaving any sign that he was there before, now the wind picked up and blew normally as the rising falls became to its loud state.
Riku was starting to come to; his eyes blinked a couple of times until his vision cleared. He shut his eyes tightly and moaned a bit from his pounding headache, bringing up his hand to the side of his head and sitting up rubbing his head.
“D-damn...” He cursed under his breath as he looked around and a sudden coldness ran over his body as he was slowly floating downwards, his hair sliver hair waving upwards as so do his new clothes. He looked down to only see a bottomless pit of darkness with a faint light coming down from the top. Riku sighed and placed both hands behind his head and looked up at the fading light.
“It's…been a long time since this has happened…last time it did, I somehow arrived at a different world...such a strange place, all those “Youkai”, or demons as they called them…what was her name again? ….Sango was it? She sure was a babe”, he smirked at the thought of her, “too bad she was infatuated with that monk…oh well, there will always be another girl in each world”, he sighed and looked to the sighed and closed his eyes, “it'll be awhile until I reach the next one though…”, he moved to the side and began to slowly fall asleep.
As much as floating down sounded ridiculous, it happened to Riku every time he would travel into another world. He didn't know why he traveled to all those different worlds, it's just something that happened, and so he got used to it.
He was woken up by being shaken a bit, a couple moments later he was flipped over violently and was forced to wake up completely. He shot up as a sharp pain pierced through his chest with each breath he took; he grasped his shirt and bent over a bit in pain as a sudden cold feeling washed over him as he went from slowly floating down to falling like no tomorrow, he looked around but only saw the darkness, he was falling so quickly he was sure that if he were to hit the ground he'd die from the impact, but oddly, he stopped in mid-air as the darkness faded away quickly and a blinding light flashed all around, he brought up his arm to cover his eyes, a strong wind slightly blowing him back, his feet landed on the ground and so he stood up and walked against the wind into the light.
