Shina felt the tiny hairs on her neck stand on end and knew she was being followed. Zipping the zipper to about half up on her black jacket she took a deep breath and dashed down the nearest alley. Her black boots clicked on the cracked and gravelly pavement. She listened and heard footsteps behind her and ordered herself to not stop running. Turning her head to glance over her shoulder she saw a man cloaked in shadows, but from what she could make out, he was tall and dangerous. Throwing her glance back to the area she was running she noticed that she was rapidly approaching a brick wall. 'I still have a few seconds to find out a way to escape from him.' She skidded to a halt and frantically searched for a way over. She spotted a trash can only a few seconds too late. She stood poised, on the trash can, to jump over the wall when the man grabbed her legs and flung them out from under her. She came crashing down on the trash can and landed on it with a loud bang. The trash can toppled over, spilling her and its contents over the ground. She closed her eyes, waiting for the man to strike first. She felt the man crouch next to her and put his hand roughly on her left shoulder. Taking her right hand she balled it up and slammed it square into his jaw. He fell back, releasing her shoulder and cursed loudly. She backed up and moved backwards a few steps, then a realization dawned on her, now not only was she fighting a man twice her size, she was backed into a corner. Taking the opportunity she slammed the top of her foot, along with the tip of her boot into the side of his face. Not even giving a second glance back she ran down the alley towards the deserted street. Reaching the side walk she stopped for only a split second and visibly paled by what she heard. Turning around almost completely she saw the man stand and sprint straight for her. Not even thinking she darted to her left and ran smack into another man just like the one following her. His hand firmly clamped down on her wrists and she heard him call to the man into alley. She tried to thrash and scream but his hand on her wrists held firm and before she realized what was happening he placed a cloth on her face. As she tried not to breath in the chloroform her vision began to gray and she gave into the inevitable. Her last glimpse was of the man holding her upright now that her muscles refused to support her.

Shina opened her eyes and immediately shut them. Her head was spinning or so it seemed. She now had duct tape on her mouth and her wrists were tied behind the back of a chair, along with her ankles to the feet of the chair. After a few seconds she reopened her eyes and studied the room she was in. The walls were gray cement along with the ceiling and floor. There were rusty colored water stains coming from the roof and the room smelled of moth balls and old water. There was a single light that hung bare from the center of the ceiling, and she was facing the only door in or out of the room. Twisting her hands to test how strong the bonds were she sighed in defeat when she realized they were solid and she couldn't break them. As she was looking down at her lap the door flew open and slammed against the wall behind it. Her attention immediately flew to the figure in the doorway. She would have gasped had the tape not been in place. A man wearing a light blue button up shirt and dark black slacks walked into the room followed by a smaller man in a white coat. The taller of the men walked over to Shina and ripped the tape off of her mouth rather roughly. She glared at him as he smirked back to her. "Porter!" she seethed.

"Glad to see you remember me darling Shina! And what about the agency? I'm sure they know by now it's me that has kidnapped their precious Agent Zero Six Four. Tell me, will they come looking for you or just wait for you to wash up on the side of a river like before." Her eyes shot hotly down to the floor. "Ah that's right. Your admirable Commander and boss ordered that you were expendable to the mission. Left you to my torturous pleasures, didn't he?" Tears pooled in her eyes.

"I would gladly die for a mission. No one needed to order it, it was an unspoken understanding. Don't get your hopes too high, Porter." She tried to stay strong but her voice along with her resolve cracked and a few tears managed to slip their way down her cheek. Porter took his index finger and traced the wet path her tear had made before withdrawing his hand a smacking her hard across the face.

"I hold your life in my hands. So I'd respect me if I was you. That is, if you want to see your dear Commander." he said in a mock sincere voice. "I'll leave you hear to weigh your options. I hope you don't make the wrong decision." and with that he left. As soon as the doors were closed Shina let out a soft and strangled cry. Her cheek throbbed, her ankles hurt and her wrists were probably bleeding from trying to get out of her bonds. None of it mattered as much as her thoughts did.

"He wont come for me will he? I'm expendable to him. They wouldn't risk the men to save me when it isn't even on a mission I was caught." more tears pooled in her eyes and then fell freely. "I really am alone now." a sudden bought of drowsiness hit her and she succumbed to it, not wanting to think anymore. 'I'll get out of this. I will...and then, maybe he will understand.'

"Wake up pet. Come on. You must be awake for our fun." a voice whispered to her through her sleeping state.

"Commander?"

"No pet. It's me." She flinched when she focused her eyes on the face in front of her. "I brought you a present...look." he motioned to his side. She flicked her eyes to where he was motioning and felt sick by what she saw. "I brought your favorite Commander. Now the fun can really begin." she looked away from both men and the horrible picture of the Commander flooded her mind. His horribly bloodied lip and swollen eye were among the best parts that had been touched. She cast her gaze back to him and found him focused on her. She breathed in harshly at the feeling of self-loathing that overcame her.

"Porter, let him go. This has nothing to do with him. I'm the one who busted you last time. Let him go," she paused and looked back regretfully at the Commander's face. "Let him go, and I'll come quietly." Her head sagged down in front of her to show her sudden feeling of defeat and submission.

"Ah, but dear Shina." Porter said tracing his finger along her jaw to bring her gaze back up to his. "You work for him. And besides, I can't have you with him still fresh in your mind. The only way I can make sure you're not thinking of him, is to kill him."

"No! You kill him; you'll have to kill me. And if you kill me," she struggled with the last words. "You'll never have the pleasure of feeling warmth below you. Only a cold dead corpse, if you'd go so far." An image flashed in her mind and she bit her tongue to keep from vomiting. She saw his hand draw near to her face and readied herself for his touch, but was startled to hear an unexpected voice.

"Get your disgusting hands away from her." Her eyes shot straight to the Commander's face.

"Ah Commander, how good of you to join the conversation. Darling Shina here was just discussing arrangements about your release, or death. Which ever I find suitable to my liking." He laughed nonchalantly and walked over to the bound man and grabbed him by the nape of his neck, focusing his gaze on Shina. "She really is a beautiful girl isn't she Commander? Look at her, so innocent, and yet so…seductive. She's got everything, the childlike innocence, and the mature allure of a woman. Any man would want her, wouldn't you agree Commander?" He was silent. Shina looked away, suddenly very self conscious and ashamed. Porter's harsh voice dragged her gaze back to the two men. She saw the Commander try to swallow, contemplating his words. Porter shook him roughly, once, and refocused his gaze on her. "Wouldn't you Commander?"

"Yes." The Commander said through gritted teeth. She looked down, shameful tears pooling in her eyes. Still the interrogation continued.

"You would have her if she wanted. Wouldn't you, Commander?" She shut her eyes tightly at this, not wanting it to continue. She opened her eyes slightly and looked through wet slits at the scene before her. "Answer me Commander. You would, wouldn't you?" Porter seethed as he yanked the man's head back to look him in the face. She saw the Commander glare at him and just barely heard his whisper.

"Yes."

"Stop it! No more!" Shina's tears spilled over, down her cheeks and onto her jacket. "He doesn't deserve this. Let him go Porter! Just let him go!" she gave a jerk on her hands, momentarily forgetting she was bound to the chair, and felt the thick rope cut deep into her wrists. A strangled cry managed to escape her throat. Porter let go of the Commander's head and walked over to her.

"Dear Shina, how can I get you to understand? The only way I can let him go is when, either one of you is dead." Placing a small kiss to the side of her mouth she forced herself not to jerk away. She did shudder uncontrollably even though she ordered her body not to. "Why shudder pet? Excited?" She shut her eyes off to his gaze and visibly flinched and jerked when she felt his hand pass over her cheek, to her shoulder, coming dangerously close to her breast. She snapped her eyes open and glared at the monster in front of her.

"Disgusted. Let him go. Then you can do what you want to me. I'm expendable and will die to save the life of a comrade or friend, proudly and without hesitation." Porter's face twisted into an ugly glare.

"You know, to make this experience more, memorable. I think I'll torture you just a little…and make him watch as I pin you to the floor and…"

"You sick bastard!" came the tired voice of the Commander. "What are you after Porter? Is it me?" He struggled against his bonds but gave up as blood trickled down his wrist. They heard Porter cluck his tongue the way a mother would to reprimand her children.

"Don't give yourself so much credit." He sneered down at the bound man. "What interest would I have in you? The only thing that connects us is our dear Shina here. And I thank you for handing her the mission that fateful day. Otherwise, I might not have my new lover. "He walked back over to Shina and squatted down on his haunches. "Now my pet. I'll give you one last request. Anything you ask will be fulfilled, I guarantee it." He placed his hands on her knees. Shina raised her eyes from her lap to his evilly sneering face and then to look at the Commander. She took in a deep breath as their eyes connected and willed her tears down back to where they were formed.

"Let him go." She shot her gaze back to Porter's startled look. "You heard me. He is set free in a safe place, with lots of people. He is not to be harmed or sought out after this. He is to be left alone." She saw him smirk, and walk over to the Commander's chair. He grabbed the nape of the Commander's head and focused his gaze on her once again.

"Well, Commander. Seems you have been saved for now. How lucky you are, to be saved by such a beautiful creature don't you agree?" he sneered down at the bound man. "Boys? Take the Commander and `set him free'." He called over his shoulder as two big thugs walked into the room. He directed his attention to the captured man. "Just remember…any man would want her, and I will have her. In exchange for your life. Isn't that a humbling thought?" Porter rolled his shoulder and reached into his pocket and pulled out a small switchblade. The Commander froze in his chair as he watched Porter walk over to Shina, the knife poised in his hand. "Now my dear. You'll watch as your Commander leaves you here in my control, for the second time." Squatting behind her he placed the blade onto her neck at an angle that forced her to look the Commander in the eyes. Feeling her bonds go limp she struggled to keep her tears from spilling out. Her mind screamed at her to do something, but all she could do was focus her gaze on his eyes. She stopped functioning, her body moved but she no longer felt it or controlled it. She saw herself being raised to a standing position. Saw the Commander struggle with his bonds. She blinked once and felt her cheek warm as a tear spilled forth. Wanting to implant his face before he was taken away, she shot her gaze back to his face. Something was in his eyes, she couldn't read exactly what, but it comforted her slightly.

"Don't worry; I'll come back for you. I'll come back Shina!" She heard him yell as he was shoved out the door. A few more tears slipped past her now closed eyelashes. Feeling completely exhausted she slipped down and sagged into the chair, slipping deep into sleep. `Don't worry; I'll come back for you. I'll come back Shina…' That's the…first time he's…said my name. What felt like only moments, but was really hours later, Shina jerked awake to the sound of a gunshot and the stomping of feet. All the muscles in her body froze, her mind thinking of only one person. The Commander. Standing rather too quickly she fought to stay up right as the running got closer. Before she could move another inch the door burst open and her eyes widened slightly as the muscles in her legs gave out and she began to fall to the floor. "Agent Zero Six Four!" the Commander and about eight other agents flooded into the room. The Commander knelt beside her exhausted form and threw her arm around his shoulder. Leaning her slight weight against his side he helped her up to her feet and they began moving, four agents in front four behind. "Scatter, we're a moving target like this. I want you to find Porter and bring him to me." He said, rage boiling in his voice. As the agents scattered Shina looked up tiredly at the Commander.

"You came back." She whispered as he set her with her weight on her own feet once again. "You came back for me." She saw him nod once and he began walking ahead of her. It happened so quickly, one second he was only a few feet in front of her, the next it was Porter there instead, wielding a knife. "Commander!" she shouted, turning both Porter's and the Commander's attention to her. Seeing his lost opportunity Porter lunged to her with the knife, the dim light glinting faintly off the blade.

"Run Agent Zero Six Four!" the Commander screamed at her as he grabbed Porter by the arm and hurled him down to the ground. Seeing Porter almost to his feet once more Shina had little time to react. Porter lunged once again. A short loud cry was heard through out the halls. The Commander, having fallen against the opposite wall when Shina pushed him out of the way, looked up at the horrifying scene. Porter stood, knees bent, right hand clasping the knife now deeply buried in Shina's side. It was all the Commander could do to bring his eyes to her face. Her hands were upon Porter's shoulders, squeezing tightly because of the pain, but her face…her face was almost completely bare of any emotion. Suddenly a flash of pain crossed her features and her eyes widened as a small trickle of blood left the corner of her mouth.

Porter sneered evilly as he pulled the knife out slightly and rammed it back into her. Reveling in the sound of her pain stricken cries. Pulling the knife completely out, he tossed it to the ground and looked at his hand with her blood on it, almost proudly. Quickly he grabbed onto her shoulders holding her close. "I told you, I wouldn't be happy until one or both of you were dead." He said plainly, then gently placed a kiss to her bloodied lips. "I always mean what say." he tossed a sinister glance at the Commander and took off running. The Commander was barely to his feet when she fell to her knees, her hand clasping her wound and her head tilted back as the pain flooded through her body.

"Agent Seven One Nine! Agent Zero Nine Two!" He called and saw the two men belonging to those labels rush down the hall toward him. "Porter went south down the corridor. Find him! Now!" he growled at the two men. The Commander knelt and cradled her trembling form. "Agent Zero Six Four? Hold on. Help is coming."

"S-so c-cold. S-so dark." She grabbed onto the collar of his jacket noticing the blood clinging to her hand. She pulled her hand away from him and looked at it with fascination. Her vision blurring she looked at him and smiled. "I'm going to sleep for now. So tired."

"No stay with me. Stay awake. Help is coming. Please stay with me Agent." His hand fisted behind her as he watched her eyes sag shut and her hand fall limp to her stomach. Standing with her slight weight in his arms he barreled toward the exit where an emergency helicopter sat at the ready. Putting her limp form inside he motioned to the pilot to start. "Go get her to a hospital. We need her to stay alive. Go!" he grit his teeth as he watched the helicopter rise and take off. Hang in there Agent. We'll get him for you. Hearing footsteps the Commander turned and spotted six of the eight agents that had arrived with him. He looked at the questioningly.

"Sir. We were unable to locate Porter. He must have slipped through with the few who have escaped."

"Agents, you did your best. Recall the others, we got what we came for." He said sternly. He turned his back to the men and faced the path the retreating helicopter took. Yes, we rescued our fallen comrade.
