How was the last chapter? It has been my longest yet. A good four pages long. This chapter might be a bit shorter but please forgive me!

 

Chapter 2: Midnight

 

The window of a hotel room of the Leaky Cauldron was open. A teenage girl, no older then sixteen rested her elbow on the sill, her head cradled in her hand as she watched the stars and moon.

 

As she watched, her eyes focused on an approaching shadow. It cflitted through the sky before it landed silently on the sill.

 

“My lady,” it greeted the girl. “I am sorry to say that the other kure have also chosen this school for their training as well.”

 

The girl didn't appear fazed, but there was a flash in her violet eyes, “Is that so? Well then I guess this year might be more exciting then I first planned.”

 

The bird tilted its head to look at her better, “Yes but you must also be careful. If they know you are here then they might try to destroy you.”

 

She laughed, “Oh yes. I would expect that from those three.”

 

“Which three my lady?”

 

“The kures of Earth, Light, and Fire.”

 

“But not Air and Water?”

 

“Oh no. I've seen those two in action. I have nothing to worry about from them. They wouldn't be so easily decieved.”

 

“Decieved?”

 

“Why do you think I chose this specific school out of them all Midnight? I did my research and gathered facts. This Dark Lord's return conincides with Kiyushya's escape from Kyuisha. I have a feeling that they will work together.”

 

“So you selected this school because of that?”

 

“Of course. I need to be here to watch over someone as well.”

 

“Who?”

 

“You will find out in time Midnight. Trust me.”

 

“I always have.”

 

The girl smiled, “Right, back to business then. I understand that Mirage and Mei have both discussed with Professor Dumbledore about being allowed to stay at the school?”

 

“Yes; Mirage will be staying on as a teacher's aid, Mei has taken a job on in the infirmery.”

 

“Good. You told Dumbledore then that when it comes to combat they will obey only me as they swore to do?”

“He seemed hesitant at letting a sixteen-year-old girl lead two others into battle. But I assured him that you would explain why when you arrived.”

 

“I will then?”

“My lady you must give him some credit. He is the only one the Dark Lord fears. He could be a powerful ally. Take him into confidence! At least trust him a little. I told him about the other five.”

 

“Oh. You're ahead of me then. I expect then that you told him about my being a kure?”

 

“Yes, but that's all I told him.”

 

“Good. Take a message to Mirage. Tell her to await further instructions but for now I need her to keep an eye on all of the teachers. Tell Mei the same.”

 

Midnight fluttered around, “May I asked why?”

 

“I want to make sure they're all trustworthy. If not, then I will request that Dumbledore not tell them. Other then that Midnight nothing else.”

 

“What about the human Drei?”

 

“Drei? Oh. Tell him I made it here safely and that he is welcome to send me messages brought by you. Once you've delivered your message to Mei and Mirage; take him that message and remain with him. Got it?”

 

“Yes my lady.”

 

Good. My plan is in place.

Well there we go. I rewrote the whole chapter in… half an hour. Not bad for three pages and 2 600 words. I might be getting more profficient or I might just be getting better at my writing.
