Fan Fiction ❯ The One Sin ❯ Chapter 1 ( Chapter 1 )
[ A - All Readers ]
Darak, a swordsman and, not very well known, hero marches quickly and swiftly down the crudly made road, knowing this part of his journey is coming to an end.
He set out on this journey many years ago, not all sure where he was going or what would be expected of him if he ever finally reached his destination. He left his home, his family, and the kingdom he sworn to protect, to find a legendary guild, where it was known that only the bravest, smartest, and most heroic of warriors gather. He intended to prove himself to be worthy of joining this guild of legends.
At last he began to enter a clearing and a large mansion loomed in the distance. He walked towards the guild taking note of two guards, dressed in a sky blue full plate armor, both having a shield in one hand and a long broad sword in the other, standing watch. As he approches the door and tries to enter the guard at the gate pushes him away closing the door.
"you cannot enter here, lest thee be judged worthy, " the guard bellows
Darak turns to the guard who spoke and stares at him, with cold eyes, through the guards helmet while he casually grips the hilt of his sword with his right hand. "remove yourself from my path and allow me to enter, or i shall prove myself worthy on thee," darak replies.
Both of the guards laugh and the first readies his sword and barks to Darak again, "your threats are worthless here, begone i said!" but as he finishes a messenger runs up from inside the guild and hands a note to the guard and scurries away. After a short pause the guard finally looks back at Darak and with a grumble opens the gate, "fine, you may pass by the order of Lord radimus erkle" he states, but not caring to let someone weak looking like the man standing before him to enter.
Darak wastes no time and pushes past the guard headed down the path toward the castle at the center of the guild. Along the path is mostly bushes and trees, as well as, a few houses which he assumes are owned by the residents of the guild. As he approches the castle, he is called into a building to his right by a guard, He is lead inside to meet the Lord of the guild.
Darak stands in front of Lord Erkle and after a moment the silence is finally broken, "Darak Sharnah, you hail from Rakhelm and travel here with hopes of joining the guild of the bravest hero's man has ever known?" the lord asks.
"Yes sir, I do, and I shall perform any task you wish of me to prove myself worthy of such an honor," darak replies nervously.
The Lord nods before saying "Ok, fine, I shall grant your chance. We have been watching you on your journey here, ever since you left Rakhelm, and are greatly impressed with all the aid, and time you sacrificed, to help even total strangers you meet on the way here." he reaches into a cupboard and hands to Darak several pieces of paper, one has part of a map on it, the other three are blank. "Our mission for you will be to map out a jungle far south of here. On the scroll is the first part of the map and a list of supplies you will need. Until now we haven't cared to bother mapping the rest of the jungle, but lately is becoming an urgent matter. I wish I could explain in more detail, but we havent't recieved any new information from that area in months. Gather your supplies and set out at once. I will send a guard to escort you to the port town of Tinkale, after that you're on your own."
Darak bows greatfully "thank you sir, I shall not fail you." he turns and walks out to begin gathering his supplies, but is rather disappointed to learn that all he is just a scouting mission, but soon he will come to realize the true danger that lies ahead.
