Fan Fiction ❯ The one Who Never Knew ❯ I'm a What? ( Chapter 1 )
Chapter Two, I'm a What?
"Are you ready yet, Jade?" My Father asked poking his head in my bedroom. I sniffled pathetically staring down at my luggage, packed and ready to go all the way to England. My whacked out parents were sending me to a boarding school in England. They said it was to start over, start a new chapter in my life. I knew why they were really sending me there:
Because I have this really bad knack of making things happen, which has landed me in major trouble with the principal of my school and all my teachers, and fellow classmates (like the time I made Karen Lander's hair turn green)
To get me away from Rob, Whom I have a growing "thing" for, since he is graduated, and I'm a sophomore, rides a motorcycle, is a JD (Juvenile Delinquent, for all you Posh types who don't know the lingo) Or was a juvenile Delinquent, he isn't young enough to be one now, but is still on probation, he won't tell me why.
To try to turn me into a priss
To get rid of me
"Yup," I muttered wiping my eye, which was on the verge of letting a tear slide out.
"We'll let you go around to your friends houses to say goodbye, and then we're leaving," He said giving me a reassuring smile (which didn't reassure me in the least) and shut my door softly. I pulled on my sweatshirt, the one my Mom doesn't like because it says "Lead me not into Temptation… I can find it on my own" and has a little red winking smiley face with devil horns, and went downstairs and out the front door to my best friend, Lou's house.
"I can't believe it, your actually leaving," Lou said, blinking back a tear and hugging me.
"I know. But I guess that's what happens after you accidentally teleport your family to another state on Christmas," I joked. I had, of course, told Lou the whole story.
"Speaking of Rob-The-Bastard," she said mocking the tone of voice I had used when talking about rob in between the time that he had told me his little secret and then. She looked at the door to her living room.
"You gotta be kidding me," I groaned turning and heading for the door.
"He walked over, six and a half miles because you slit the tires on his motorcycle," Lou said. I couldn't believe she was defending him. So I slit his tires, that's what he gets for riding over the day after we got back from Chicago with this lame excuse about not wanting to tell me for fear that I'd hate him.
"I've got nothing to say to him," I said stubbornly.
"Then just listen to what I've got to say to you," Rob's deep voice came form the door to their living room, which he was now holding open. I glared at him. God he has such a perfect body. And the way his dark wavy hair falls into his eyes, which happen to be this misty blue the color of fog…
"I'm sorry, I seem to have a momentary loss of hearing," I said mirthlessly opening the door stomping out and slamming it shut behind me, I walked down the street, well more of speed walked the way those old ladies do in there white tennis shoes. I wasn't really sure where I was headed seeing as I only really had one friend whom I already said goodbye to, I mean I would've given her a longer goodbye, but well, I couldn't with Mr.-Lets-Keep-Important-Secrets-From-Jade-Even-Though-She-Tells-You-Her-Sec rets-Which-Are-A-Lot-Freakier.
"Mendel!" I heard him shouting from Lou's doorway. He couldn't even remember my first name. He was running behind me, I could hear him. "Mendel, come on. I'm sorry. Damn-it! Would you stop running away form me? Jade!" I knew he was really mad, he never used my first name except when he was mad. Did I mention Rob is about a head taller then me, which means he has longer legs, which means he can run faster? And man can he run, he's in quite good shape if I do say so myself. I was quite a ways down the road almost at the part where it turned when he grabbed my arm.
"Why didn't you tell me? I told you everything about me, all about how I'm a freak. All about how the only one I ever told was Lou and you, because if the feds found out they'd probably send me to a mental ward or something!" I screamed at him. He waited for me to calm down.
"Because, you wouldn't even introduce me to your parents Mendel, because I ride a motorcycle, I graduated, I didn't want to ad another thing for you to hide form your parents," He explained slowly trying to contain his ever-growing anger.
"I didn't not introduce you to my parents because of all that! I just, well, there was never a convenient time, besides it's not like you're my boyfriend or anything," I yelled.
"Oh God Jade! Admit it! I embarrass you!" He blew up.
"You do not!" I shouted back.
"Oh it's just a coincidence that you were fine going out with me until you found out how old I am, and what my ride is," He said clenching his perfectly straight teeth and glaring at me.
"Maybe I'm just not attracted to you," I pointed out. What a lie, saying I'm not attracted to Rob Wilkins is like saying I'm a prom queen. He smiled mirthlessly his teeth still clenched, grabbed my chin in his large hand tilted my head up and kissed me so firmly that I stumbled backwards. When he pulled back I guess I looked pretty intoxicated and he smiled smugly which, let me tell you, didn't look bad on him. It did make me mad though. How dare he use his stupid masculinity to take advantage of me. I made a very rude sign with my hand, turned and stalked past him, towards my house. He followed me. Never let it be said that Rob Wilkins isn't in college because he has no determination. He is a very determined person, believe me.
"Mendel, please, come on, I was just making a point," He said rather pathetically, that nonetheless, still sounded incredibly sexy. I was starting to think that maybe a nice vacation from Rob was just what I needed when I started up the walkway to my house and my Mom came to the door to see if I was ready.
"Jade, honey, are you re- Who's your friend?" Crap. I turned glaring at Rob.
"What friend?" I asked walking inside quickly and shutting the door behind me. I had to admit I felt bad for Rob who was standing on the front porch of our house knocking on the door and calling my name, first calling me by my last name, Mendel, and then when he got angry, by my first name. He left after about five minutes.

"So what kind of school is this?" I asked my parents on the way to the airport. They exchanged looks.
"It's the school my Mother went to when she was a girl, we got a letter when you turned eleven asking you to go there, but well, at that time we didn't want you living so far away," My father explained. "Grandmum will explain it all when you get there." But I had no idea what he meant by Explain it at the time.

"A what?" I asked in a very loud voice as I gawked at my Grandmum.
"A witch," She said again in her regular, sweet-old-lady voice.
"You take away the W and put a B there and I'll totally get what your saying, because I know I've been kinda irritable, but you would be too if you just got off a twelve hour flight,"
"No, no, no, a witch honey, you know, magic," She explained.
"No I don't know," I argued.
"Well, your mother told me how you sometimes accidentally make things happen it's because you're a witch. You're going to a school to learn how to control your powers."
"This is a joke right?" Grandmum shook her head and next thing I knew I was shopping for spell books, a wand and a cauldron. I am so not kidding. And the day after that it was straight to Hog-with-warts school of magic `n stuff. Actually that's just what I called it to annoy Gram, it's actually called Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (something she never gets tired of saying)
