The only way to forgive
chapter 1
Susy Bandamen burst in to tears as she lay on her bed after having an execrable fight with her mother. All the emotions she was holding in leaked out like a pipe with a considerably large crack in it. Susy had plunged her face in the pillow so the gasping and sobbing would be muffled. She did not want her mother to know she had won.
When Susy was young she had thought her mother was always right. She had adored her mother and supported everything she said and believed. But now that she was old enough to think independently everything had changed. In fact now she went against everything her mother did and said. Susy loathed her mother but more importantly she loathed herself for it.
In case your lost here..let me explain the last few weeks of Susy's life for you. don't get to excited..Those few weeks weren't exactly heaven.
It all began on Friday, October 13th (ironic isn't it?). That day her whole life changed drastically. When she had gotten home on that day and found her mom in tears with tissues scattered around the kitchen table, she knew right away that her life wasn't going to be that rich and warm happy life it had been so far. Instantly as a reflex (like when u stick out your hands when you're falling) she rushed to her mothers side and comforted her mother as best as she could. But a while after when Susy found out her dad had left she turned on her mother, getting angrier and angrier the more she thought about it.
The only thing that kept her from going insane with these beastly thoughts bouncing around her head like a ping pong ball, was a beautiful girl named Anne. Every night when Susy thought she couldn't cope with the thought of not seeing her father again she called Anne right away and of course Anne coaxed and soothed her so she could finally drift off to sleep. Anne did things for Susy that made people admire their great friendship.
Of course her father wasn't so malicious as to not call his beloved daughter again, so each night her father called her and asked how her day had been. Of course Susy tried to get some information out of him but her father let nothing slip.
This curiosity made Susy so delirious that she finally pried her father into telling her. Immediately she wished she had never asked. How could she go on loving her mother again?
There had always been tiny little hints as to what her father had been doing but she never really put the pieces of the puzzle together. But now she lie on her on her bed sobbing uncontrollably to her now soggy wet pillow. Even though she was really mad at her Mom, she still didn't want Anne to think of her Mother in a way that would make people stop and stare. Thinking back at the feud with her mom, she regretted saying some hurtful things.
Susy never thought she would have a fight with her Mother that was as bad as the one they had just had.
They had just come back getting the groceries when Susy starting dropping hints that she knew what her Mother had done. They had been walking through the aisles of k-mart. Susy refused to look at her Mother and when she did, she through dark dirty looks full of hatred in her Mother's direction. When her Mother had first noticed them, she started to fidget and when they were half finished shopping, she had a fit.
“What's wrong Suzy? What did I do?” she asked as she let go of the shopping cart and through her hands in the air in frustration.
“You know what you did. Why should I have to explain it to you when you didn't explain what you did to me?” Susy asked as she too through a fit.
Instantly, her Mother realized what she was talking about. Stranding the cart, walking briskly out of the shopping mall and into the parking lot, Susy followed close at her feet.
They both got into the car and drove home in a deathly silence. Just as they walked through the door of their home, Susy screamed at her Mother.
“How could you do such a terrible thing? How could you do it to Dad?” Susy screamed as they walked through the door of their home.
Susy always loved words. Before any of this happened, she used to go to the library and just read a dictionary all the way through. She screamed things that even her Mother couldn't understand. She screamed in Spanish and French and her Mother just sat there silently waiting until her daughter was finished. As Susy was screaming, she couldn't read the expression on her Mother's face. Was it anger? Was it shame? Was it sorrow?
