Fan Fiction ❯ The quest for trust ❯ The beginning ( Chapter 1 )

Four towers spiraled like a unicorn's horn reached into the sky, touching the soft, fluffy clouds up high above. The clouds were bathed in a soft golden light, coming from the sun at the side of the world out of reach. The beauty did not fit in with the scurrying people down on the ground.
As the maid servants in Elxenate palace were scurrying around, a stranger would wonder why they were running around abandoning their duties. The elves of Elxenate were up-to-date and they all knew their lovely queen Lauralla Silver-dragon was having her baby, they also knew that the king was hoping that it was going to be a baby girl as he already had two sons and he was getting bored of having sons and wanted to have some new
'pleasure'. The gods were with him, the queen gave birth to twins, and the first was child was a girl with big blue eyes, bluer than the sky. The second had enormous green eyes, greener than the grass. The whole elven city was rejoicing for the little princesses' birth. The king, Sir Arthur named the children, he named the first Lauralla after her mother as the queen had the same blue eyes as the baby, latter the queen named Laura. The twin's two brothers lined up to see the twins, the oldest was Robin, the second Max. The royal parents naturally hoped that the girls would be as talented like their brothers. Robin was small and had long arms, he loved to use his beautiful willow bow and his feathery arrows to shoot and practice his targeting. Max was brainy and learnt a lot, he often spent his time with his tutor learning new things.

In the coming years, the twins were very attached to each other, refusing to leave each other. Laura grew up to be a girl who loved battle. Lauralla grew up studying the art of magic. She wore the bluish purple magic robes of neutralism. The sisters were supposed to learn how to fight, Lauralla learned to use the sword but she still did not think she was going to use the sword to defend herself. When they grew to the tender age of eighteen, they left Elxenate to explore the world.

Lauralla wore armour without the helm and her father's very own sword at her side. She rode her chestnut coloured steed. Laura on the other hand wore her robes and slung a bag carrying her spell components, her spell books and she held a staff.

The staff was carved delicately to look like willow tree, the orb was spinning slowly, its colours changing every few moments, it was called the Roseleaf staff. She rode her pure white steed that was actually a unicorn whose horn was invincible and duty was to protect the two princesses bestowed upon the queen by their unicorn godmother. The white unicorn's sister was the one that Laura was riding, her name was Hazel and the latter was Silver. Both of them truly looked like princess, but Lauralla wanted to keep their identities hidden in case of enemies. So Laura fixed a hood on her plate body and used the hood to cover her face. Lauralla already had her robe's hood to cover her face. The twins set off to the magical woods where the unicorns came from as they had to seek advice from their unicorn godmother.

When they reached the woods, the unicorns suddenly reared up and galloped deep into the woods, the princesses had to hold on for dear life. After what seem like the longest five minutes of their whole life, they reached a slope and slowed down, when the unicorns reached the top of the slope, the princesses had to gasp. Below them was a big grassy meadow, in the meadow where dozens and dozens of unicorn foals. There were bronze, silver, pure white, chestnut and all sorts of different colours. The princesses noticed that though the foals appeared to be grazing, the ears were all tilted in their direction. For the first time in the princesses' lives, Hazel and Silver spoke in front of them. They cried out across the meadow, “Where is the forest mistress?” A few centaurs cantered up to them and said, “Just in time! She also wants to see you!” The unicorns followed the centaurs, but the princesses riding upon them were a bit confused and asked the unicorns, “Where are we? Who is the forest mistress? What is going on?” The unicorns replied merrily, “We are in the sacred unicorn glade, the forest mistress is your unicorn godmother and we are going to meet her.”

Soon, they reached a small tunnel at the far side of the glade, the tunnel was covered by a curtain of moss and the princesses almost missed it if the centaurs did not tell her it was just a curtain and that they could go through. Pass the curtain was a little glade, when Laura and Lauralla saw the unicorn in the middle of the glade, they could do nothing but gasp.
