Fan Fiction ❯ The Stones of Laharia ❯ Just a Game? ( Chapter 1 )

Disclaimer: Hey! I don't need one of these! YAY!!

It was just a game. That's all. But when I stepped through those doors, it all changed. I didn't know it at the time, but it all changed. And it wasn't a good change, either.
My name is Ian Asuka. I am sixteen years old and I LOVE computer games. One day, I bought an old computer game from a pawn shop. I liked the title, so..... I just bought it.
I took it home and jammed it into the disc drive. After installing it, I started playing it. I made my character then called my best friends, Erin and Jaymie.
"Hey, are Erin and Jaymie over there?" I asked Erin's mom.
"Yes. Just a moment." She replied. I heard her walking upstairs to Erin's room. She knocked on the door and gave her the phone.
"Erin! Get Jaymie and come over to my house!" I half-shouted at her.
"Why? What's wrong, Ian?" She sounded worried. So worried that I decided to toy with her a little bit....
"Just hurry! Get over here NOW!!!" I slammed the phone on the counter and turned it off. Then, I rushed upstairs to my room and looked out of my window.
It worked! Two minutes later, Erin and Jaymie were running down the street toward my house. They barged in and sped up to my room....only to find me sitting comfortably on my bed.
"Why did you do that? You scared us half to death!" Erin shrieked.
"Hey, calm down. That's payback for that wedgie you two gave me two days ago!"
That's us. Just me and my best buds. We're always joking around.
"So, check out this new game I just got at the pawn shop!" I gloated.
"Awesome! You can make your character however you want to? That's so cool!"
We're all such computer geeks. I looked at the cover art on the game case. Read the title over and over again--The stones of Laharia. It sounded so cool; I just had to play it. Erin and Jaymie made their characters and we started to play.
We completed the training level easily, and soon reached a large black door. As I reached for the handle, a deep voice boomed, "Beware. After this door, there is no turning back. Consider it carefully and choose wisely, for your life may depend on it. You have been warned."
Unfortunately for me, Jaymie, and Erin, we had played too many games to be afraid of some silly warning we received. Besides, we were all safe in my room. No video game could reach us here. Or so we had thought. But we were wrong. Very wrong. I reached for the door and pulled the handle. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into.
A flash of a blinding white light slithered through the crack in the door. I drew the door closer, and the light swallowed us. Then everything went dark for a few moments. It was pitch-black. I couldn't see anything, and then -- we were engulfed into a swirling inferno.
"Welcome to level one. Destroy all monsters and find the stone of Ice-Fire to advance."
