Part One

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

A girl with slightly green skin was walking down a dimly lit city street. The only other inhabitants of said street was the normal corner whore and a man young man walking by. As Wakai passed she tried to duck more in to her hood and jacket to hide her appearance. But in doing so she walked directly in to the man.

At first Marius thought to rebuke the creature before him, but he didn't want to bare his fangs at anyone. "You should watch where you walk little one," he muttered, trying not to sound aggravated. He turned and looked up at the moon. It was so dulled by the pollution of the word below it. "Besides," he told the girl, "what if I had not been so kind?"

"I'm sorry." Wakai replied "But I'm glad you're a nice fellow because then I don't have to fight you back." She sneered pulling back the hood to reveal yellow cat like eyes at the man. " I don't like to fight if I don't have to. At this point she noticed his eyes. "I'm sorry but do I know you? I know there aren't many people human and otherwise with your eye coloring." She asked in true curiosity.

Marius turned his face away, making his pale hair cover the eyes the revealed far too much about himself. "You are mistaken," he stuttered. "It must be the moon light, which has fooled your eyes. The thought then crossed his mind that perhaps this person was addressing his father, but he did not wish to ask a question to then find himself wrong.

"Hey? Are you ok?" She asked at his turned away face. "I didn't mean to offend you." She then put her hood back up covering her face in shadow, thinking that he was scared of how she looked. After all this was the human world and demons were feared. The whore at the corner had disappeared, Wakai noticed. Probibley scared away at her appearance. For a demon she was very vain when in the human world.

The young demigod sighed and turned back to look at the girl before him. "I'm fine," he said with a fake smile. "I'm Marius Cross by the way and you are...?"

"Wakai Yasha! My oniichan is Zaiaku Warui. My oneesama is Hinanjo Subarashii." She gave Marius a big smile and an extended hand to shake. "Hey you're a vamp aren't you?" She asked turning her head slightly to see his mouth better.

A slight glare crossed Marius' face, but it was only to hide the fang, which had apparently been shown. "No," he grumbled, trying hard not to show his fangs anymore. However, he had already lied once and that was more than he wanted. "I'm only slightly vampire because of that stupid beast." The thought of Toen came to mind, making Marius a little angry.

"Oh..." she said slowly retracting her hand away, smile fading. "Ummm... well I hope it wasn't one of my friends... Hey, I got an Idea why don't you come with me? I was just on my way to the bar around the corner. You can meet my family... If I didn't interrupt you... from hunting or something." She stuttered at first but got brighter again as she rambled. Giving her a nerviest look.

At first Marius thought to decline, but he then realized it might be a good idea. "I suppose I will," he said, pulling his pale blue hair back into a low ponytail. "I don't have anything else to do really... and I most certainly am not hunting anything. It's not that I enjoy being a half vampire you know." He was beginning to ramble and noticed it. "Sorry," he said with a slight smile, still trying to hide his fangs, "it's just when I start to think about that monster I can't help but rant. Please m'lady, lead the way."

"Oh, trust me sir, I'm no lady." She smiled at him; rocking back on her heals using her hidden tail for balance, pleased with herself. She then grabbed him by the hand and started dragging him to the bar. "Come on it's not far. Watch it though it might get rough tonight."

Marius didn't understand the comment, but he followed nonetheless. It was at the time that they reached the bar that he finally asked, "What did you mean by that? Is something the matter with this place? Should I be worried for my safety?"

"Not really." She replied. "Just the normal. 1) You're a newbee, 2) drunks, demons and other, and 3) it's a Full moon." She ended pointing at the sky. "This crowd gets a little...umm... loco in da cabasa... if you know what I mean." She finally started to go inside.

"A'scus meh missy buh can't go in." A man stopped her. He was tall and looked evil with his long pointed ears and sharp teeth. His K9s reaching to the bottom of his lips.

"Let us in Bernard I'm here to see my brother." She said pulling back her hood.

" 'arden meh Wakai-jo di'nt seh your face. ho' the fella yeh got?"

"A friend can we go in now please?"

"Yeah be a please'." He said bowing.

The Bar was crowded and smoky. The band was playing but not wildly. There were some people on the dance floor but most were lounging in the over stuffed booths that lined the walls.

Marius felt uncomfortable in a place like this. He might be a demigod and half vampire, but he had grown up with humans, and humans were what he knew. Besides that, he had never had a drop of alcohol in his life, but in seeing a vampy flash by, his sharp teeth showing white, he realized they severed something else. The other something was what he felt nervous around: Blood. "A-are you sure w-we should b-be here?" He stuttered to Wakai. "I-I don't t-think t-this is a g-good idea..."

"Don't worry," she said. "You don't have to drink alcohol or blood if you don't want. And the smoke mostly drownds out the smell." She said looking every where but at him, already knowing what was going through his head. A man in the dancing crowd spotted them and catching Wakai's attention pointed to a table. The man was a good 6'6 with shoulder length black hair, pulled in a leather strap at the nape of is neck. Emerald eyes sparkling. Wakai just nodded, grabbing, once again, on to Marius' hand, dragging him. "Come on, this is the table over here."

Still feeling quite uneasy, Marius followed closely behind Wakai and took a seat just across from her. His eyes darted about as he caught people looking at him. He was an outcast wherever he went. "What have I gotten myself into?" He muttered to himself. Then, quickly bringing his glance to Wakai asked. "Why do you come to this place? Isn't it dangerous for a girl your age?"

"Not with us around." A male voice said in his ear.

Chills ran down Marius' back and he quickly leapt out of the chair. With a quick turn on his heel he found himself staring into the eyes of Zaiaku. "W-who a-are you?" The young demigod questioned, obviously shaking.

"Calm down." A soothing voice said on Marius' other side. As a woman scooted in to the booth beside him. Wakai had moved to his other side on the end, sealing him in. The two new comers looked human enough, except the fangs growing from the man's mouth and the woman's cat ears and lack of human ones. " I am Hinanjo Subarashii, and this is Zaiaku Warui. Were little Wakai's older siblings and her guardians."

"I didn't touch her I swear!" Was the first thing that came to Marius' mind. He was so nervous around these types of people, all he was waiting for was Toen or Mika to show up and then he would have too many problems to deal with. He bowed quickly. "I promise I did nothing!"

"Don't worry we aren't worried about that. You do something wrong and she'll tell you herself." Zaiaku replied lounging back and calling a waitress over. "Wakai's a big girl. She can take care of her self. Order whatever you want it's on me." He added tossing a menu at him. "Sodas are on the right at the bottom."He then lit a sigeret and waited.

Marius bit his lip, making it bleed slightly. Even over the smoke, even being only half vampire, Marius could smell blood, other than his own. His vision became red and blurred slightly. He grasped his arms tightly and pushed the menu away. "I-I'll pass," he muttered, wiping the blood from his lip.

Wakai and Hinanjo looked at him nervously. "Are you ok Marius?" Wakai said softly. Touching his arm in a like manner. "We can leave and you can come to our apartment if you want."

"No he can't," another male voice said from just beyond the table. Marius knew the voice and his expression changed to that of an angered wolf awaiting it's attacker. Toen looked at the company about the table with a smirk. "Hello Zai-sensei."

Zai sat up strait at the sound of the voice. "Holy SHIT! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING HERE!?!" Slowly his eyes were turning their demon red. "I THOUGHT I GOT RID OF YOU WHEN I QUIT TEACHING!"

"Toen." Hina just nodded, though there was a frown on her face.

"TOEN-SEMPAI! WHY CAN"T YOU LEAVE US ALONE!" Wakai shouted instectivly grabbing her tail.

Marius slowly stood from his seat and glared at Toen. "He thinks he's my father," the demigod grumbled. "Excuse me while I get rid of him."

Toen looked his son over, sighing heavily. "You still won't admit it will you," he said. "I've told you the truth, sooner or later you must except it." He quickly glanced at Zai. "I figured you knew Zai-sensei, I'm the god of shadows now, I've grown up."

Hinanjo scooted out of the booth behind Marius. "Marius, sweetie, here are the keys to our apartment. Take Wakai and stay there." Her voice was soft and relaxed. One hand one his shoulder and the other putting a set of keys in to his hand. Her eyes too were slowly turning red. "Out side both of you we can settle this there." She forced a calm voice pointing at the door.

Again Marius bit his lip, this time letting the blood drip down his face and onto the floor. "No," he told Hinanjo, "I have to deal with him... This is my problem, not yours. I'm sorry for troubling you nice people."

"That's right," Toen said with a nod, "you folks should all stay out of this, being that he is my son."

"TOEN STOP BEING AN ASS! WE WENT THROUGH THIS CRAP WITH MY BROTHER! DON"T MAKE US DO IT AGAIN!" Zai shouted. "WAKAI TAKE MARIUS AND GO HOME! TOEN, YOU AND ME, OUT SIDE, NOW!"

Now with Zai getting agitated Marius knew that he had to take charge. "Zai-san," he said, touching the other mans shoulder, "you can't do this, I won't let you. It wouldn't be right for you to deal with him."

Toen smiled at Zai, as if to say 'that's my son'. He crossed his arms, letting a slight smirk form on his lips. "You really should head home Zai-san, after all, you have women with you."

Marius snapped. "Shut up!"

"Let me not think on't; frailty, thy name is man." Was the only reply from Hinanjo.

"Marius? Come on lets go... This fight has been put off for far to long. Come on..." Wakai pleaded pulling lightly on his sleeve.

"No!" Marius shouted. In a quick jerk Marius pulled away from Wakai and ran straight at Toen. His fist slammed right into Toen's cheek and the god's face twisted to the side, giving to the punch. "Leave me alone!" Marius cried.

Toen paused, taking everything in and then turned to face his son. "Have you learned nothing?" He looked past his son to Zai. "I will take my son with me now." A shadow-like hole in the floor began to form, right below Marius and he slowly began to sink into it.

"MARIUS!" Wakai shouted diving for him and catching him around the waist only fall through with him.

With that the portal closed and now only Zai, Hinanjo and Toen were left. "I suppose I'll have to settle things anyway."

Hina just collapsed to her knees. " YOU... YOU... YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE!" She shouted at the top of her lungs. The bar went silent. Everyone now knew that Toen was not good news. Hina never swore or yelled in public, and sirtenly not at anyone who didn't deserve it.
