Daughters to the Duke of Tasogare, they rarely separated and, as an even rarer occurrence, left the palace. Since their mother's death, when they were ten, their father had started to spoil them. For their thirteenth birthday, they were each given a guardian. Guardians are animals that could speak the language of humans, as well as turn into one. Mayonaka had Ember, a black mare with piercing red eyes. Ripple, a pure white stallion, with glowing blue eyes, belonged to Reimei.
