Chapter 4
"Baby-sitting Apollo"
--------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------

Kismet and the gang were on the road heading east from Siti when they reached a fork in the road. One heading north and one heading south.

"I think we past our exit," said Ruby.

"Yep, I'm pretty sure of it," said Wanderer.

"If we go twenty and a half a step back, we will get our exit," said Mimir.

"What kind of steps? Baby, giant or normal?" Apollo asked.

"Backwards."

"What! Backwards!"

"Yep," Mimir said as he started to walk backwards, "Come on everyone."

"I'm not doing that," said Stry.

"Oh come on. It's be fun," said Ruby as she pulled on his arm.

"To what humans think is fun and what vampires that is fun are two different thing."

"Yeah, vampires idea of fun is sucking the blood of virgins," said Apollo.

"Then I'm okay," she replied.

"What? You're not a virgin," said Wanderer.

"Nope, I was married once."

"What happened to him?" asked Apollo.

"He died."

"How did he died?" asked Kismet.

"Oh, let's not talk about things in the past but look into the future."

"20 and a half," said Mimir about 20 feet from the rest of the group, "I found it! Come on."

"Come on you guys. He found it," said Ruby as she ran to her dad.

"Why didn't she want to talk about it?" asked Kismet.

"Some people don't want to talk about the past," said Stry.

"Besides everybody has their secrets," replied Apollo.

"Come on guys. You keeping us up," yelled Ruby.

(

"Did you miss me, Falling Star," said Katie as she patted her blue, baby, fire-breathing dragon in her bedchamber in the northwest tower of the castle, "Do you want to pat him, Knows-a-lot?"

"No thanks. My hands are a important part of who I am," Knows-a-lot replied.

"He won't bite. He just burn them."

"If I can't juggle, I would be dead."

"Fine, fine."

"Katie, do you have a plan?"

"Of course I do. The next mission Snott goes on, we will go with him. We would want him to succeed at least once."

"Why?"

"Because he's replacement is not ready yet."

"How much longer?"

"A month at most."

"Would it work?"

"Of course it would, and not we just do it all over again."

(

"Can we stop? My feet are killing me," said Apollo as they walked through the forest.

"Not here. When we get to the river we will," said Mimir.

"Why?" asked Kismet.

"It's not safe. This is orc country. We need to stay moving."

"What! You making us go through orc country," said Apollo.

"Don't worry. Everything will be okay, if we stay on this path."

"What path? It just dirt."

"I know where we going so don't argue with me."

"I'm not arguing with you. I'm just stating my opinion."

"Then don't state your opinion."

"I can state my opinion when every I want to."

"But I don't want to hear it," said Wanderer.

"Am I talking to you? No, so don't bud in."

"Is it your time of the month or something?"

"No! For the last time, I'M NOT A GIRL!"

"You sure act like one."

"I don't need this."

Apollo walked off in front of them. A couple of minutes later, they came upon Apollo and an orc fighting.

"Let me pass," said Apollo as he held up his bow directly at the head of the orc.

"No one will pass without paying up," said the orc.

"To bad. You're not going to get anything from me."

"Then I'm got to kill you then."

"Zmeg. Qu mru ejtuj en mru facv, A tuxoct hei me buowu," said Stry in a foreign tongue long forgotten by man.

"A tec'm mofu ejtujn hjex mru facv ochxeju, oct quzatuz kre oju hei me zguof me xu ac zisr o koh," the orc replied.

"A ox Stry. Mru javrm roct noc en mru facv. Ze hei kabb equh xu."

Then the orc fall to the ground quicker than you can snap your fingers.

"Nejvawu xu. A tate'm fcek kre hei oju. A kabb bum hei gozz," said the orc.

"Mruc ve oct mubb obb kre bawu ruju me qu pjugoju qusoizu mru facv az sexacv qosf."

"A kabb, a kabb," the orc said as he ran off.

"What did you say to him?" asked Apollo.

"Just something to keep the orcs from bothering us," said Stry.

"Good. Then we can rest."

"Yes, we can rest," said Mimir.

"Yes."

Apollo sat down on a ground and the other followed.

"Hei zreibtc'm qjacv heij reguz ig," Ruby whisper into Stry's ear.

He just looked back with a puzzling look on his face.

(

"The river," said Apollo, "Finally something to drink."

"It's your fault that you drunk all of you water in the first 10 minutes of our travel," said Wanderer.

Apollo just ignored him, and drunk out of the small creek. Then he refilled his water bottle.

"That's weird. I swear it was bigger the last time I was here," said Mimir.

"Yeah, me too," Ruby replied.

"I don't care. It's the best water I ever tasted," Apollo said, "Here try some."

Apollo held out his bottle, but no one drunk from it.

"Fine no takers. I guess more for me."

"I smell something in the water," said Stry.

"What?" asked a five year old Apollo who looked like he was wearing his dad's clothes that are way too big for him, "I shrunk, and my voice. I'm a kid again."

"What happen to him?" asked Ruby.

"Youth. It's a magic potion that make you grew younger. I thought it was existed," said Kismet.

"But I don't want to be a kid. How can I get back to my right age?" said Apollo.

"Age powder."

"And where do you find that stuff?"

"The plant that it's from is no longer found in this world."

"So I'm a little kid forever!"

"Yes. One taste from it make you grow younger 5 years, and the looks of it you lost 15 years, and it would keep you that way for the rest of you life."

"But I don't want to be kid. I hated my childhood."

"Do you think he will be least or more ignoring as a kid?" said Wanderer.

"More," said Mimir.

"I heard that," said Apollo.

"A neict hei, gjacsuzz," said Stry.

"What do you mean? Is he...?" said Ruby.

"Huz."

"What are you talking about?" said Apollo.

"Nothing gjacsuzz."

"What are you calling me? You're calling me something bad. I know it."

"He's not," said Ruby.

"How do I know? I have my eye on you, Stry, and you to Ruby."

"Fine keep your eye on us. It won't do you any good," said Stry.

"Why do everybody hate me?"

"I don't hate you," said Kismet.

"Let me rephrase that. Why do everybody don't trust me?"

"I trust you."

"Okay, okay. Everyone don't trust me except you, Kismet."

"Because he's too trustworthy," said Wanderer.

"That's not a bad thing," said Kismet.

"It's not, but sometimes it is," said Stry.

"Like now," said Wanderer.

Then a group of orcs surrounds them. Each had a bow and aiming for them. Then the leader walked toward Stry.

"We don't follow the king anymore. We follow the Queen Sara, ruler of the demons," said the head orc.

"Then tell you queen that the true King Daven is coming back to reclaim his throne," said Stry.

"Why do I have to listen to your hallow threats? And don't think about drawing your weapon. I have hundreds of archers waiting for my signal to kill you, and trust me they want to. So if you will come with me."

"N..." said Apollo, but Stry stop him.

"We will come. I want to see this queen of yours," he said.

The orc motions with his hand for some to came and tie them up. And they did. They took them through the forest to the east. They didn't stop for anything. After a day or two they got to their destination. The dark realm of Fuxec to the natives, and the Lands of Shadows and Secrets to everyone else. They walked down the street of Tojf, the dark city. This is where their ruler lives.

It was a dark, depressing place where nothing grows except the dark living plants, which can eat a man whole. And the people who lived there where everything that creeps in your nightmares. Everything that you're afraid, everything that makes you run and hide and cry. Only someone who has a dark heart would see the beauty in this place.

They walked up to a castle that was at the edge of the city, and entered it. As they walked down the halls there were banners that where completely black expect the bottom was stain with the blood of their enemies. One for each king that ruled.

Then they came up to the doorway that led to the throne room and to the last of the banners. This one was complete red not a speck of black showing. And below it said, "This banner belongs to the Greatest King even ruled, King Daven of Fuxec."

"And we are bringing that guy back," said Apollo as he saw it.

"Yes," said Kismet.

"Are we insane?"

"You are. I don't know about the rest of us," said Wanderer.

"Oju mruzu mru ecuz ku neict ac mru nejuzm en heimr?" said one of the demon guards.

"Huor. Zxubbh ojuc'm nruh," said the only one.

"I wouldn't be talking," said Ruby.

"Zru'z o gjummh ecr. A bafu me ve me qut kamr ruj," said the first one.

"Tec'm mobf ruj bafu mrom," said Stry.

"Kromuwuj."

They entered the throne room. Their queen turned out to be a five years old girl wearing all black, but her face was as white as snow and her hair was a very light blonde. She looked like the only pure thing in this whole country, and I bet she was. And on her head was her crown made from a black gold with sapphire jewels.

"Your highness, this are the people we found in the forest of youth," said the leader of the orcs.

"Thank you, Prince Qbeet. You may leave," said the girl.

The prince and the other orcs left the room leaving Kismet and the gang and the girl only.

The girl got up and ran to down the stairs to Stry. Then she hugged him.

"You're back. You're finally back, Stry," she said.

"My princess, you haven't age a day since I last say you."

"It's the demons. Then made me this way, because I refuse to marry Sir Tojfbejt, they made me drink youth and I can't find any age powder until it was too late and I was trap to be a kid forever."

"What! I can get trap as a kid forever!" said Apollo.

"What does he means? He drunk from the river of youth in the forest of youth didn't he."

"Yes," said Stry.

"Here then," she said as she took a pouch from her belt, "This is the age powder. Just sprinkle it on and say the magic words."

"What are the magic words?" said Apollo.

"Here, let me do it," said Kismet as he took the pouch from Sara.

"Okay," said Apollo.

Kismet took some powder out of the pouch and placed it in his left palm.

"Magic powder of age take pity on this poor soul that drink from the river of youth and return him to his true age."

Then he blew it at Apollo. Then as magic Apollo grew back to his normal height and age.

"Yes, I'm back," he said, "Thank you."

"Hei'ju kubsexu," Sara replied.

"What?"

"It's you're welcome in Mecviu."

"Oh."

"Stry who are all this people you are with? It's not your style to travel in a group like this. And why does that boy have my brother's sword and him my brother's bow?"

"What do you mean your brother's sword?" said Kismet.

"And bow?" said Apollo.

"The sword is the sword of the fairy queen right? It was my brother's most precious weapon given to him by his wife as a wedding present. And that bow is the Bow of the Elements, which he got from the elves as a wedding present."

"My name is Kismet and the sword was given to me keeper of the Fairy Queen's resting-place gave to me for my journey to find the king," said Kismet.

"And I'm Apollo, and this bow was given to me from my father for my sixteen birthday," said Apollo.

"What you're bringing my brother back?" said Sara.

"Yes. We need him to wake the queen up, so she can save her kingdom from King Robert," said Kismet.

"And who are the other people?"

"This is the famous Wanderer," said Stry.

"Hello," said Sara as she shook Wanderer's hand.

"And he's Mimir, the elf wizard."

"Hello," she said as she shook Mimir's hand.

"And this is Ruby, Mimir's daughter."

"Hi," she said as she put out her hand to shake, but Ruby instead hugged her.

"I will give you all rooms to sleep in for tonight," Sara said, "Maids come in."

Then five catladies walked in the throne room from a door on the left side of the room.

"Take them to their rooms."

"Yes, my queen," they all said together.

They took everyone except Stry, to their rooms in the castle. Stry stay and talked with Sara.

"There's something special about the one you call Ruby," said Sara.

"I know," he replied.

"You like her don't you."

"As a friend."

"You want to be more than that. And don't try to fool me, I may look five, but that is not even close to that age I actually am. You know I'm the oldest woman in the world."

"I know. It's cleaver for you to train those young woman to be her."

"I know, but back to my point. Ruby and Kismet are special."

"How?"

"Daven's qbeet jicz jasr ac mruaj wuan."
