Moonlight danced across the sky
And shone bright in the lovers eyes
As he said goodbye and she started to cry
He said that he would be back soon
Whenever she wished upon the moon
He'd then appear
And tell her what she wanted to hear
That he was her's forever and always
But the story ended in her misty eyes
For the night she wished by the moonlight
Her beloved had been taken in the twilight
She believes to this day
That day he ran away
And now she feels like a fool
But still wishes upon the moon
