Chapter 2-Painful Reality

I woke up in a dimly lit room. I wondered what become of my parents and Estharin. For once, I wished that I wasn't the crown princess of Estharin. Then maybe, I could save my parents.

"Oh, you're awake," Someone said. I slowly sat up and rubbed my head. A girl, who looked almost 17, stared at me, carefully.

"H-How did you find me?" I stammered.

"I found you in the woods," The girl explained. Woods? Perhaps I was really far away from Estharin.

"Where am I?"

"You are in the peaceful region, Narima. Far away from the war-torn Estharin. It was a pity, really. The two monarchs have been captured," The girl informed. My parents! Without thinking, I looked up at the girl, exposing my silver eyes.

"Your eyes...they are beautiful," She commented.

"Thank you. But-" I started.

"What is your name?" She interrupted.

"My name is Komorigachi Kouuaroshi," I whispered. The girl's eyes widened.

"My name is Rena. You are the princess of Estharin, aren't you?" Rena inquired. Panic quickly spread through my mind, shattering my thoughts at the moment.

"Please don't turn me in!" I choked out. Rena smiled warmly.

"I wouldn't do that. But I want to help you," She stated. I let out a sign of relief.

"I'm probably being hunted for, right?" I asked. Rena nodded.

"Exactly, but you better how that `The Fox' isn't after you."

"The Fox?"

"The Fox is a deadly elf from Mista, the nearby Elvin lands. It's rumored that she was an assassin. Everyone that usually comes in contact with `The Fox' or `The Desert Fox' dies," She explained. So, it was probably better that I died back there in the woods. Rena noticed the look on my face and helped me up.

"Let's go outside and go into town," She suggested. I looked at her strangely.

"Whatever for?"

"Don't you want to eat?" Rena asked, with a bit of sarcasm. I laughed softly and followed her into town. Once we arrived in the city, there were screams and shouts of, "The Fox!" Rena looked at me with wide eyes.

"Maybe the Fox is, in fact, looking for you," She whispered. I gulped slowly. The Fox was a tall, thin and beautiful elvin maiden. She had silver hair and violet colored eyes. Guards with long spears surrounded her. The elvin maiden appeared calm and disciplined as she unsheathed her pencil thin sword. Within a second, the first guard charged toward her, spear out front. The Fox quickly dodged it and thrust her sword through the guard's heart. Not wasting any time, she abandoned her sword and kicked the closest guard in forehead, snapping his neck back beyond repair. After that, she crouched down in a defensive position. There were only two guards left. But I could see hesitance anywhere and the guards were truly hesitating. But the relentless maiden would not stop. She whipped out her two daggers and threw them at their throats. Both fell down, and two dark pools of blood quickly oozed out from their wounds. Within a second, she retrieved all of her weapons and started walking towards Rena and me. Rena pushed me behind her defensively.

"Well, well. Who do we have here?" The elvin maiden asked. Rena snarled.

"Get away from us!" The Fox laughed and smiled.

"I'm not here for you, Lady Tehau. I'm here for Princess Komorigachi Kouuaroshi," She stated. I let out a small gasp.

"Please! Please don't kill me!" My nerves were becoming extremely frayed and raw since this whole thing began.

"Lady Komorigachi, calm yourself. I am Kousei, from the lands of Mista. Your mother sent for me," Kousei explained. I couldn't believe my ears. But how did she summon such a powerful warrior?

"How?" I asked.

"She sent for me days ago. However, I was unable to make it into Estharin borders, due to the invaders." She answered. I looked toward the ground. All this, because of me. Kousei turned around and sighed.

"Let us be gone from this place."

And with those words, our journey began.
