Aurora turned to look back at Alex, her eyes opened to the sorrow he was feeling which gave birth to this mournful howl. “Alex...”
Just as quickly as it had started, the demonic pulses of energy emitting from Alex stopped; as did, the mournful cry that had expressed his inner turmoil. Alex fell to his knees, no longer in his demonic form, it seemed that he was an ordinary person. It was hard for anyone who saw him as he was now to even think that the person before them was in fact, the most powerful being in this realm. Due to many reasons, lack of food, lack of drink, lack of sleep, and the fact that his last bit of hope was violently shattered, the man appeared as any other who had lost the love of his life. He was broken.
“Lad, do not give up hope so easily.”
“Kiba’s right. Torin’s a bastard. For all you know he could be lying about everything he said,” Shadow added.
The two demons looked to Aurora for further help, but despite the need to say something, she was at a loss for words. I don’t want to give him false hope. What if he really can’t bring her back? He’d be even more heartbroken then if we continue to encourage him. Still, I can’t help but feel that I need to say something.
As if Alex could hear her thoughts, he weakly stood up and without facing them answered their unspoken questions. “I am alright. It is..., it is just hard to believe that there’s really nothing I can do to bring her back.”
“Alex, don’t say that! You can’t just give up hope like that,” Aurora shouted. “Maybe there’s still a chance that you can bring her back.”
“No!” Alex roared. “She is gone, and there is nothing I can do about it. Maybe now, she will finally find the peace she has been looking for.”
It was obvious to everyone that Alex didn’t mean anything he had said. Still, they didn’t know what to say as they silently watched him make his way past them. Aurora started to reach out to him, but Shadow grabbed her handed and shook his head slowly.
“This is something he needs to figure out on his own. All we can do for him now is show him that he’s not alone,” Shadow said softly.

Alex walked up to his room as if he was in a daze. He started to turn to go towards Brittany’s room, but stopped, knowing that if he did he would never be able to leave her side. He slowly made his way to the balcony and leaned against the railing. The sun was setting beyond the plain and the beginning of the cold night air brushed against his face. Tears streamed down Alex’s face as he softly called out for the one he loved.
“Brittany...”

In another place, far from where she had known, a young girl walked towards two large gates. She was wearing all white, and her dark blonde hair fell gracefully over her shoulders. Before nearing the gate, she felt a small pain in her chest as if her heart was leaving something precious behind her.
What is this feeling? Why does my heart feel as if there is someplace else I should be? I can’t remember anything, but I feel as if there’s someone or something dear to me that I left behind. My heart is calling out for them, and they are calling out for me. Why can’t I remember anything?
The girl was met by someone cloaked in all white. A white hood covered the person’s face, and in one hand a large golden staff was held, in the other a large leather bound book. The person didn’t give the girl a second glance as she walked towards the gates. Once she neared them however, the person spoke in a booming voice. “What is your name, girl?”
The voice was a dead give away that the person was male, but still, the girl faltered with her response. What is my name? I can’t remember anything about myself, much less what my name is.
It was then that the girl heard a voice call out in her head. A small fragment of her memory flooded back to her, but all it revealed was but a minuscule portion of what she desperately wanted to know.
The man asked again, “What is your name girl?”
“My name...is Brittany,” the girl replied slowly.
The man looked through the pages of his book, and what seemed like an eternity after finally stopped and looked up at Brittany. “Come with me,” the man said. Waving his hand, the gates opened and Brittany followed the man into the unknown.
With every step she took after passing through the gate, the feeling of loss, the feeling of heartache slowly ebbed away. Until finally, she knew not that she had ever felt love or loss before.

Author's Note: Sorry for such a short chapter. I know I ripped you guys off, but I had a test today and prom's tomorrow, so I wasn't able to write that much. And what I lacked in story I made up for in plot. As I said before, Brittany is dead, but not forgotten. From this point on she will be playing a big role in the story, along with the man in white. Hope you liked it, please review.
