Fan Fiction ❯ Trancending Death ❯ Last Man Standing ( Chapter 19 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Alex kept swinging, by now his mind was consumed by bloodlust and he didn’t even know whom he was lashing out at. All he could feel was the flesh being ripped and shredded by his claws. All he could taste was the blood that was being sprayed all around him, that covered him and dripped off of him. Alex kept striking out, despite the fact that he was no longer connecting with anything. It took Alex a few minutes to realize that all his adversaries were dead.
Alex looked around the arena, examining the amount of carnage he had inflicted on them. Even though he had seen worse, as he looked at the mutilated corpses of the demons he had fought, he had to choke back the bile that rose in his throat. He looked at his blood soaked hands and took a second to examine his body. To his surprise, the Devil Armor completely consumed his body. As far as he could tell, there were only a few sports that the Devil Armor didn’t cover.
What have I done? Better yet, what’s happening to me? The Devil Armor has never covered this much of me. Even as Razriel I never allowed it take control of me this much. This armor is a double edged sword. It gives me strength and is nearly impenetrable, but in the process is robs me of my sanity and causes a sense of bloodlust. Still, I cannot blame my actions on the armor alone. What on earth possessed me to allow it to gain this much control over me?
Alex took a few deep breaths. Calming himself before trying to mentally shove the Devil Armor back. Alex could feel the tentacles beginning to recede on his body, and he could feel their grip on his mind start to fade away. One thing that made him uneasy, however, was that he could still feel a dark essence lying within him. One that wasn’t a result of the Devil Armor, but a result of his own heart.
Just as Alex had the Devil Armor completely sealed away, he felt the pain of blades being rammed into his sides. Alex resisted the urge to yell, instead he decided to vent his anger on the demon who was foolish enough to attack him from behind. To Alex’s surprise, the demon before him was Senka.
Blood dripped off of Senka’s shoulders and he wheezed lightly due to the pain that crept through his body. Still, he was standing and he was ready to fight Alex.
Alex smirked and extracted the blades from his sides. He shattered them in his hands before speaking to Senka. “So, you have finally accepted your fate.”
“I have, now the question is, have you accepted yours? Have you, Demon Lord Razriel, accepted your fate?”
“Heh, I accepted my fate long ago.”
“Is that the reason your hands tremble at the thought of killing men who have done you no wrong?” Senka asked.
Alex looked down at his hands, and just as Senka had predicted, his hands were trembling. Alex looked up at Senka, never once letting his surprise show on his face. “My hands shake not out of fear, but out of anticipation. My hands call for your blood.”
“Brave words, but I can see otherwise,” Senka replied. “What happened to the man who just seconds earlier decimated my entire organization without even a hint of worry or fear. Is the same man before me? I don’t think so. You don’t possess the same bloodlust in your eyes. The way you look at me now makes me wonder if you could even kill me.”
“Do not press your luck,” Alex said in a cold voice trying to end the discussion.
“Too bad, I think I will!”
Senka moved in a blur of motion, throwing several darts in Alex’s direction. Alex didn’t want to risk using his Devil Armor, but he knew if he let those darts pierce his skin he would once again be at the mercy of Senka’s will. With blinding speed and accuracy, Alex plucked the darts out of the air and chucked them towards the ground.
Even as he did this Alex knew that Senka was positioning himself behind him. Alex heard the sound of more darts being launched through the air. Alex turned and instinctively reached out to grab them. His eyes noticed a difference in the darts a second too late, and the moment he touched one they all exploded. Alex was knocked back into one of the coliseum walls, cursing himself for his stupidity.
“He’s an assassin, of course he’s not going to use the same trick twice,” Alex muttered.
Alex looked up in time to see Senka coming down at him with two black blades aimed for Alex’s throat. Alex threw his arms up and caught hold of the blades with his hands. He felt blood trickled down his arms from where the blades had cut is skin. Alex saw Senka’s glowering face, even beneath the folds of his mask. Their eyes met for a moment as they were locked in standstill. At that moment, Senka continued his verbal assault.
“What reason brought you to my lair? Why is it that you now hunt human souls? Could it be, because you lost your mate?”
Fuck it, his head is mine! Alex thought. Throwing caution to the wind Alex allowed the Devil Armor to consume him once again. Senka’s eyes widened with horror as Alex began to push back his blades. Senka tried to break free, but he lost his footing in the process which allowed Alex to gain the advantage. Alex shoved both the black blades into Senka’s throat. Alex pressed Senka against the wall, shoving the blades further through his neck.
With the last bit of Senka’s strength he cursed. “A Devil named Razriel, and a Lord named Alex will never live in peace. As long as both exist, your soul shall be haunted by the deaths of those you kill, yet, call for their blood none the less.”
Alex didn’t even pay attention to the fact that Senka’s voice was different. He figured it was because of the fact that Senka was choking on his own blood. That thought caused him to pause before finishing him off. Alex brought himself closer to Senka and licked off some of Senka’s blood. He then whispered into his ear. “You’re right, my blood does taste better.”
With that Alex pushed the blades all the way through, killing Senka and piercing his body to the wall. Alex suddenly felt incredibly tired, and he quickly changed out of his demonic form and back into his human one. He collapsed to the floor, as an unnatural weariness began to overtake him. Alex’s eyes began to glaze over, and he wondered what was happening to him. It was then that he heard a voice, and it was then that his blood ran cold.
“Alex?”
Alex looked up to see to whom the voice belonged to. Even as he looked he knew who it was, even as he saw he couldn’t believe it.
“Brittany!”
