“Meaning you and your Devil boy are no exception to that,” Tristan said.
Lucia nodded. “I will say this, I have done things that I never thought I would. In times of darkness, one might sell their soul to the darkness, that they may see the light.”
“It seems that you might not be as misguided as we previously thought,” Zemnas said in a complete change of character. “You are right about one thing. The light never seems so good, until you have been plunged into complete and total darkness. I too, discovered what you have. Once realizing what a threat this creature of darkness posed, I banned everyone from using their all seeing eye. Most would not act as calm and right minded as you have. I knew if others were to see this monster and the possible threat he could do to both of our realms, they would panic. A single person is smart, a group of people however, are stupid and easily frightened. Also, by keeping the others unaware it has allowed us to plan without hinder. If I seem to act any different, it is because I too, have found that darkness of the heart is the only way to beat this creature. I have been upset, because despite all we have planned, nothing has worked. I have been upset, because despite all we have planned, nothing has worked. Every attempt we have tried has failed, only for you to go to the Demon Realm and to come up with a plan, that not even we could see. I had believed that you were the reason for our failure. Your interference jeopardized all we have tried to do, but in the process, you might have found the only true means for defeating this monster. So, if you’ll forgive us for our earlier brashness, I do believe that if you were to explain to us your intentions, we would listen with more open ears to your cause.”
Lucia’s heart skipped a beat at Zemnas’s words. Lucia no longer felt hostile toward the elders, or like he had to fight so hard to prove himself to them. The moods of the five elders had brightened considerably, all but one of the elders now seemed less tense and actually smiled in Lucia’s direction. Everyone except for Shimera, seemed happy at Zemnas’s words. At this point however, Lucia didn’t care. Shimera had been depressed for quite a while now, and Lucia was determined not to let her mood bring him down. This was his big chance . This was how he could impress the elders and show them that he could save the realm.
Lucia took a deep breath to calm his nerves. Up until now he had been fueled by anger. Now that his anger had left him, he felt extremely weak, tired, and nervous. He felt the proverbial butterflies fluttering through his stomach as he desperately searched for brilliant words to inspire and impress the elders. Unfortunately, none came.
“After realizing what this Devil could do, realizing what he wanted to do, I knew that none of us would be able to stop him without directly interfering with the affairs in the Demon Realm. I know that our power is forbidden to be used in the other realms, even if we were to try and fight him directly, we would not be able to unleash our full powers. To be honest, I hadn’t even considered using Alex as a means of defeating this creature. After bringing his beloved mate back from the Human Realm, he nearly vanished from any of the affairs concerning the realm. He gave up his title as Demon Lord, all so that he could raise a family. I should have realized it sooner, but seeing that the Devil had already begun to influence him, I didn’t think much about it. I mean, how do you persuade someone as powerful and as content as the Lord of all Demons? True, he is the most powerful being in that realm, aside from this new Devil. Still, a man who has everything would not give it up for another’s man sake. At least, most would not. It wasn’t until Brittany stood before the gates that I finally realized how I could use Alex. I finally realized how I could motivate him, how I could control him. A man cannot have something to die for, without first having something to live for. He lived for Brittany and for his child. He would gladly have sacrificed his life to save them, when they were alive. Yet, the Devil wasn’t stupid enough to dare attack Alex’s wife or child. He knew that if he did, it would mean his own destruction. Once again, that should’ve been another sign that Alex should’ve been the person I was focusing on, instead of the others. The fact that the Devil hadn’t acted out against Alex, proved that he knew he could not defeat Alex, if Alex had the right motivation. Alex’s power, even in his full demon form and combined with the power of the crystals, is not enough to defeat this Devil. When I realized that, I wondered why in the world this Devil would still fear him. I wondered why he hadn’t already attacked Alex. What power did Alex have? Then it came to me. Alex’s body, contains a double-edged sword. One of which untold power resides in. That power comes from the Devil Armor that lies dormant with him. The Devil Armor, which was as much his birthright as it was his curse for defying death. When he uses his Devil Armor, he gains power, speed, and endurance. Enough so, that if unleashed the full potential of his Devil Armor, even that Devil wouldn’t stand a chance against him. That was the reason the Devil feared Alex. It wasn’t because of Alex’s power, but because of his potential power. Once I figured that out, all that was left was the matter of how to get him to completely unleash all the power of the Devil Armor.”
“Well, why don’t you just tell him the truth? Tell him, who this Devil is and tell him that the only way to defeat the Devil is by using his Devil Armor,” Tristan stated.
“Because, even if I told Alex who the Devil was, he wouldn’t believe me. As I said before, the Devil’s essence has completely consumed Alex. It makes him blind to the truth and blind to all reason. The Devil has continually been one step ahead of me, and has made Alex fearful of even using his demonic power.”
“So, if the Devil’s essence has given him influence over Alex, what good is he to us? If you can’t control him, then he is a lose cannon,” Zemnas plainly stated. “Why exactly does Alex fear his power? He has never feared it before.”
“There was once that he feared his power,” Shimera interjected. The moment everyone’s eyes were upon her, she looked down at the ground. “If I remember correctly, it was during his battle with the demon known as Zanatos. He had just reacquired the full use of his powers. That was truly the defining point of Alex’s character and the separation of the two personalities. Alex’s choice to subdue his powers, and not let his powers consume him, created a gap between the entity known as Razriel and the entity known as Alex.”
“Still, what caused him to fear his powers?” Zemnas asked again.
“It was that girl,” Lucia replied. “It was Brittany. Alex was afraid of his powers, because of her. Because she was afraid of him, and he was afraid by using them he would lose her. He would rather have lived life as a weakling than to lose the love of his life.”
“So, you’re telling me, that Alex is refusing to his powers because of some woman that doesn’t even remember him anymore! This is ridiculous! If this girl is dead, why is he so afraid of what she’ll think of him?”
“Because, he believes he has seen her spirit. He believes he has been talking with her spirit. I must admit, I feel sorry for him. His soul was torn by actions in the first place, but to have the love of his life stand before him and tell him to continue killing these people. That is the reason he is doing this. He believes that it is Brittany’s will, for him to do this without using his demonic power. He’s afraid that if he uses it and he succeeds in bringing her back, they will never be able to live together for all those who would be after his life.”
“That’s horrible!” Shimera exclaimed, covering her mouth with her hands as she shook her head sadly. “What kind of monster could do that? Use this man’s love as a weapon against him. It’s sick and twisted. This man believes he is doing this for the love of his life, not knowing.... What will this girl think when she finally recovers her memories?”
“She will hate him. She will hate him for being so weak minded and for killing all those that he has. That is why I am trying to get him to use his Devil Armor before he kills any innocent people. If he uses his Devil Armor, I will be able to tell him the truth. He will finally be able to see without darkness covering his eyes.”
“So you allow the darkness to consume his soul, but not his eyes,” Tristan said with a smirk.
“Yes,” Lucia admitted sadly. “I am not proud of my actions, but I am doing what needs to be done to ensure the safety of the two realms.”
Author's Note: Ah, the plot thickens deeper. The most important parts of this story are the little council meetings that are being held, because lets face it, these elders are the only ones who actually have any idea what's going on, so much sure the pay close attention to what they are saying. Please review if you can, bye.
