Alex launched himself at the first person he saw, which happened to be an older lady with greying hair. With the savagery of a wild beast, Alex tore through her flesh and blood with a single swipe of his claws. The woman barely had time to scream before she crumpled to the ground in a heap of her own blood. Alex was going to cast the spell to freeze her soul, but before he got the chance to, several more villagers were already coming out of their houses to see what was the matter.
“It’s a monster!” one of the villagers cried. Unfortunately for the, that only provoked Alex further.
“Monster, you dare call me a monster? Heh, I am the farthest thing from a monster. I am doing what any man would do. I am trying to bring back my mate. It is just unfortunate for you that to do that, I must end your miserable lives in the process,” Alex said in a delirious tone.
Alex launched himself at the group of men, who by now had pitchforks, axes, and knives in hand and awaiting Alex’s next movement. The men’s blades came dangerously close to Alex, as he dodged and ducked beneath them. He ducked down low as a man tried to ram a pitchfork through his chest. Alex did a complete three hundred and sixty degree turn, slashing at the legs of the men who had encircled him. He launched himself into the air before the men fell to the ground, screaming in pain and grasping at the nubs that had once been their legs.
The men of the village didn’t last long against Alex’s demented rage. He quickly tore through any resistance the villagers might have put up against him. One man, much to Alex’s surprise, actually seemed to have some combat experience. A man with long brown hair, wearing a dark brown cloak and tan traveling clothes stepped out holding a rather large broadsword. Alex quickly registered the man’s weapon as one that was made of demon bone. The way the man held his sword, told Alex that the man was indeed a skilled combatant. Still, skilled or not, he was no match for Alex as he was now.
“You call us monsters? How do you have the nerve to do that? We are but humans, what have we done to deserve this? The women, the children, they have done nothing. Leave them out of this. At least prove that you aren’t a Devil, and let the women and children live.”
“Fool, all of you will die! No one shall escape my wrath. Every last one of you will die by hands before this night is over with,” Alex replied with malice.
The man shook his head sadly. “I should’ve known. You are one of the Devil’s own. I can tell my the look in your eyes. Eyes that have given up on humanity and have given up on any traces of humanity. Your eyes are solid white, and look as if they no longer see any good in the world. You say you have reason for doing what you are. You spout ideals, but the fact of the matter is, is that you’re no better than a rabid dog. Maybe once you actually believed and fought for something that was worth fighting for. Now, however, you’ve been blinded by something. I don’t know what that something is, but I know that whatever it is, it has corrupted you and your ideals. The way you attacked the village, you’re no better than an animal. An animal that I’m going to have to put down,” the man informed him. He readied his large sword in a lunging stance.
Alex smirked at the man’s words. “Say what you will. It will matter little when I hold your heart in the palm of my hand!”
Had Alex been of sane mind, he might’ve realized that without his healing powers, this human could do serious damage to him with his demon bone sword. The other weapons broke on his skin, but the demon bone blade would penetrate his skin with ease. Especially, as he was now. In total oblivion of the possible danger, Alex charged toward the man. Any class or style that he had once fought with, was now replaced with primal rage and natural instincts. It was just as the man had said, Alex was nothing more than a rabid animal.
The man watched as Alex lunged at him. The instant that Alex launched himself at the man, the man launched himself at Alex. As Alex was now, he didn’t notice the man change his grip on his sword, now did he notice the man twisting his body as he was moving. All Alex saw was one more soul that he could collect. Just as the man reached Alex, and prepared for what Alex believed to be a lunge, Alex ducked beneath the blade. The man saw Alex’s sudden change of movement, and quickly adjusted his attack to counter Alex’s own actions. He threw all his weight on his left foot, which caused him to quickly halt. Using the momentum from his halt, he threw all his weight into turning around, swinging the enormous sword to the side, which should have connected with Alex’s right side, slicing him in half.
Alex watched as the man swung his blade towards him, but Alex didn’t care. The moment the man was open, Alex sprung up from his crouching position. He rammed his right hand through the man’s chest, just as the man’s sword came crashing into Alex’s side. Alex’s eyes widened in shock as he realized the aura that had been protecting him during his battle with Baou and Rire, no longer protected him now. He had been counting on that to stop the man’s blade. He quickly grabbed hold of the man’s right arm, with his own left arm. The man’s sword dug deep into Alex’s flesh, but it mattered little. Alex had already won this battle. With a quick motion Alex ripped the man’s sword from his side, his blood spraying everywhere. At the same time, he extracted his right hand from the man’s chest. In his hand, rested the man’s heart.
“See, what you said matters little now that I am victorious,” Alex whispered. His victory was only a small one however, for now he had a serious wound in his side that wasn’t going to heal, and the villagers after seeing all that had taken place, were trying to run for it.
A man had turned his back to Alex and tried to flee, but Alex jumped on top of the man. He stabbed his hand through the man’s chest, and threw him away from him. He then pounced upon a woman and stabbed his claws into her throat, before discarding her. By this time, most of the villagers had either tried to flee, or had gone to their houses and prayed that Alex wouldn’t find them. To Alex, however, it was as if there were no houses there. He could sense every human within that place. All he had to do was find them.
“Soon, soon we shall be together. There are only a few more. Kill them, kill them all, and we will be back together,” Brittany whispered in his ear.
Alex nodded and slowly started heading toward the first house. He kicked down the door and entered with an aura of death surrounding him. It took him a second to find where the people were hiding, but eventually he found them hiding in a cellar beneath the house. There were four of them Two little children, a young lady, and their mother. Alex was completely oblivious to their pleas of mercy as he tore through their flesh with his claws. The pain in his side became a dull throb as he moved from house to house killing anyone that he found. He moved like an angel of death through the village. One that had lost the purpose of his killing long ago and now just killed for the fun of it.
They’re evil. They need to be condemned. They’re the monsters, not me. I am saving them from a fate worse than death. For surely creatures of such darkness would suffer after death. They’re evil. I can see the evil spilling out of them as I slash them. The darkness pools around their bodies and drips from their wounds. I am doing only what needs to be done. I am only doing what is necessary. They are the evil ones, not me. These were the thoughts running through Alex’s head as he slashed and clawed at the people he found. Even as his fingers raked through their bones and flesh, he still believed he was the one doing good. Even as they begged for mercy. Even as their blood soaked bodies hit the ground. Even as Alex’s psychotic laughter drowned out their cries. Yet, every time he killed someone, he was not alone. There was always someone behind him smiling wickedly as they watched the gruesome scenes unfold before them.
“Kill them all,” the figure whispered.

“Brittany!” Lucia yelled as he started to run towards her. Brittany was grasping her head tightly in her hands and crying uncontrollably. Lucia wrapped his arms around her and tried to console her, even though he didn’t know what was going on.
“Shh, shh, it’s okay. What’s wrong? What happened?”
“Please, you’ve got to help him. You’ve got to save him. You can’t let him do this!” Brittany begged him.
“Help who? What must I save him from?”
“The man from my dreams. The one you said was searching for me. You’ve got to help him! You’ve got to stop him.”
“How can I help him? What’s going on, Brittany?”
“The children...he’s killing the children,” Brittany whispered.
Lucia’s eyes widened with horror as he realized what Brittany was talking about. “Shit, don’t worry. I’ll help him. I’ll help him...somehow.”
For her to be able to sense what is happening, even without falling asleep. Something must be terribly wrong. The only way she should be able to sense what Alex is feeling or what he is doing, is if her subconscious mind reaches out to him. Unless, unless Alex’s spirit reached out to her. If so, that must mean that Devil has full control over him.

Author's Note: Now is when things really start to get interesting. The darkness has reahed its final peak and now Alex must either fight agains the darkness that has consumed him...or let himself be carried further into the abyss.
