“Aurora! Aurora!” Shadow yelled. He frantically ran around the destroyed remnants of what used to be a thriving city. He searched the ruins and the carnage for any sign of his love, but all he found were grim reminds of Alex’s savagery.
“Dammit, I swear to God if anything happened to her,” Shadow cursed. The moment he found a soldier, he quickly turned him around and pulled him up off of his feet. “Have you found her? Have you found anything?”
The stunned soldier quickly shook his head. “N-no, from the looks of it, I doubt there were any survivors. Alex wiped out everyone. Men, women, even the damn children. I don’t think she made it. I don’t see how she could have when everyone else died at his hands.”
“Shut up! She is alive, I know it! Your commander’s body didn’t turn up either. Aren’t you the least bit worried about him as well? How can you just say things like that without thinking of the consequences of your words?”
“I-I’m sorry, I was just trying to prepare you for the truth,” the soldier stammered.
“Shut up!” Shadow roared. He was still holding the demon by the collar of his worn and faded brown jacket. He was infuriated by the sheer apathy that this demon was displaying, that he allowed his anger to get the better of him. He hefted the demon into the air, and threw him through a badly charred brick wall.
“He’s just doing his job, Shadow. Don’t take your frustration out on him. Don’t let your emotions get the better of you either. If you do you’ll end up just like Alex,” Scriar said as he walked up to him. “Besides, as much as it may pain you to admit it, what he said is true. The chances of her surviving this massacre are slim to none. Both her and Raion’s bodies are missing. Who knows what in the Hell Alex wants with them, but you know it can’t be good.”
“Shut up!”
“Or what, are you going to lash out at me too? You need to get a grip, Shadow. I know this must be Hell for you, but unless you calm down you’ll start acting just like Alex. So just relax, if you want head on home. A battlefield isn’t the place for emotions.”
“Don’t you dare....”
“What?”
“Don’t you dare compare me to that monster!” Shadow roared. “And don’t you dare tell me to go home either. Aurora...she’s out there somewhere, I know that bastard has her.”
“Shadow, I...please, just listen to reason,” Scriar pleaded.
“The only thing I want to listen to is his screams. He lost his mate, but that sure as Hell didn’t give him the right to take mine!”
“What are you talking about, Shadow? Surely you don’t intend to do what I think you are planning on doing.”
Shadow closed his eyes and sniffed the air. He immediately caught the scent of the person he wanted. “I can smell him, and if I can smell him, I can track him. He’s going to pay. He’s going to pay with his blood. I’m going to kill him. I’m going to kill him for what he’s done!”
Shadow turned his back to Scriar, looking toward the Northern Realm. Scriar placed his hand on Shadow’s shoulder in an attempt to try and console him.
“Come on, Shadow. Half our army couldn’t do anything against him. What do you honestly hope to accomplish by taking him on by yourself?”
Shadow quickly reeled on Scriar, shoving him backwards as he did so. Shadow bared his fangs at Scriar, a ferocious snarl escaping his throat.
“What the Hell’s going on here? Have you found Aurora or the commander yet?” Yaza asked as he came up.
Shadow turned on Yaza, growling at him, causing Yaza to jump back in surprise. Shadow back flipped onto what was left of the stone wall he had thrown the demon through. He perched himself on top of it and glared at the demons below him. “Think what you will, but I am not crazy. I don’t care if I live or die, but one thing is certain. Before this day is over with, Alex will cease to exist.”

Alex mentally cursed himself as he climbed up the snow covered cliffs of the glacier mountains. You know, it probably would’ve been a good idea to ask that damn mage, just which mountain it was that he was talking about while I still had him there. I still can’t believe I’m doing this, but for a chance to see Brittany again.... This is nothing compared to what I would’ve done to see her, what I have already done to bring her back. Maybe...maybe I can see our child when I go to the Celestial Realm as well. Heh, I might not want to come back if this place is as nice as Raza made it out to me. Which reminds me, I still don’t have a clue what in the Hell is going on around here. But he promised me that everything would be explained once I got there. I’m trust him, God help him if he’s lying to me about any of this. I can’t believe I’m trusting him after all that just happened, but something about him....maybe its just the fact that I desperately want to believe that I can see Brittany again, maybe that is why I am doing this. Regardless, I know that I will see her again, no matter what it may take.
Alex dug his claws into the side of the mountain. He looked up to see if he could see the top, or at the very least a peak that he could rest on. He was still physically tired due to the lack of sleep, and he could tell that his body desperately needed it, but he wasn’t yet ready to see if he would have a continuation of his first dream. When he looked up, much to his relief, he saw a small plateau not too far up from him.
Great, I can take a quick rest up there, Alex thought. He felt with his feet to see if he could get a good footing. Much to his surprise he managed to find a place strong enough to support him as he stood. Alex braced himself against the mountain wall and looked up. I should be able to make it if I jump. This ledge feels sturdy enough. Okay, let’s do this.
The moment Alex crouched down to jump, their was a flash of light and the ledge beneath him gave way. For a minute Alex didn’t realize what happened. He fell through the air toward the deep ravine beneath him. Even as he fell he could see the jagged rocks that laid beneath him. He turned in mid free fall and tried to grab hold of the mountainside, but to his despair he was too far away.
Alex closed his eyes, realizing that his only hope for survival rested in the one thing he hated to use. Alex reached out his arm once more, this time his Devil Armor manifested itself all over his arm doubling its size. Alex slammed his fist, hard into the mountain side wall, momentarily slowing his descent. With his free arm, he called upon the power of the Devil Armor once more and slammed his fist into the mountainside once again to further give him support. Alex looked up to see how far he had fallen.
“Fuck,” Alex cursed as he realized that he had nearly fallen all the way back down to the last plateau he had rested at. He looked back up at the spot that he had fallen from. To him, something didn’t make sense. I tested that ledge. It should have supported my weight. I don’t understand what could’ve happened to make it break away like it did.
Alex looked back down at the plateau below him, then up at the one above him. Even though the one below was closer, Alex’s pride wouldn’t allow him to be defeated that easily. “Fuck it. If I’m going back up, I’m going to take the express.”
Alex allowed even more of the Devil Armor to consume his right arm. Thus, allowing him the ability to temporarily increase his arm’s length. Alex then grabbed hold of the walls surface and started climbing upward. He used the power of the Devil Armor to increase the length of his left arm and dug it into the mountainside, and proceeded to scale the wall of ice with a sense of ease. Using the power of the Devil Armor, he made short work of the distance and reached the edge of the upper plateau in no time. The minute Alex reached the top of the plateau, he quickly retracted his Devil Armor, for fear of allowing it to gain control once more. When Alex looked up, a rather large boot was aimed directly for his head.
“Oh shit!” Alex yelled. He instinctively rolled with the force of the kick, but this sent him back over the edge. On sheer impulse, the Devil Armor launched itself out of Alex’s hands, latching on to the edge of the plateau and pulling him back to safety before he began to fall. The instant Alex landed, another kick was aimed for his head, but this time Alex was ready.
Alex caught the heel of the foot with his left hand. He reached over and grabbed the toe of the foot with his right hand, and in one fluid motion twisted the foot. The person to whom the foot belonged, quickly launched himself into the air and twisted with his foot so that he wouldn’t lose it. Alex quickly nailed the person in the chest with a punch from his right hand, which was still possessed by the Devil Armor. The moment the attacker was away from him, Alex mentally shoved the Devil Armor back.
“It seems you have some tricks up your sleeve,” the man said. “The Devil Armor, a curse given to the man claiming to be the Devil incarnate, such a fitting power.”
