Fan Fiction ❯ Two Worlds, One Hero ❯ Prolouge ( Chapter 1 )
Disclaimer: I do not own anything of this fic. I even think the story be from a film but I'm not sure. All I know is that I'm defiantly not making any money of this Fic. The legend of Zelda belongs to Nintendo, and is the brain child of Gaming Genius (All bow) Shigeru Miyamato. Enjoy.
P.S If you haven't played Ocarina of time… WHO ARE YOU? WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN THE LEGEND OF ZELDA SECTION! Play it, then come back and read this fic.
Prologue
Link rode across the plains of Hyrule, pushing Epona far beyond her limits. He could hear her wheezing.
"Come on Epona, you don't want to lose your reputation now as the fastest horse ever, do you?" Link whispered in her ear. As he finished, another racer overtook him. "Epona, you must run faster!" yelled Link.
"Now, RUN LIKE YOU'VE NEVER RUN BEFORE!" Epona powered ahead with new determination. As they overtook the other rider, he drew his sword. Link saw what was coming. He pulled his shield of his back and defended himself. The rider changed the direction of his sword and aimed at Epona. He thrust his sword deep into her chest, drawing blood and splattering it over her coat.
She fell, and Link went flying. Stunned momentarily, he dimly heard the pounding of hoof beats as the other riders in the Hylian Castle race sped past, not slowing to aid the fallen rider. Realising his horse was dying, Link got up and ran towards her. "Epona, no!" cried Link upon seeing his faithful steed breathing her last breath in the dust. Link fell to his knees beside her and cradled her head in his arms, whispering sooths into her ear. Epona gave a final whiney, closed her eyes and dyed.
Zelda came running up behind him, and he heard her stifle a sob at the sight of Epona's body. Filled with anger, Link ran towards the stands, where the winner was being congratulated. Everyone who saw thought that Epona had fallen.
Anyone who knew her would know better. He could see Malons bright red haired head staring in Epona's direction, as was Talon and Saria.
Link drew his sword and let loose the power he had been given by the sages. Fury coursed through his veins.
The other rider had seen Link coming and had drawn his sword but he was not prepared for the ferocity of the attack. Link cut, slashed and thrust with no care for his own safety.
He pushed him back towards the stands, using two handed blows to try and push his opponent to the ground. Epona's killer kicked Link hard in the gut, sending Link sprawling. Link flipped to his feet, and prepared Dins Fire in his hand, while the other rider charged for a two handed attack.
Suddenly, the fighters stopped, frozen in mid fight. All they could move was their heads.
"Zelda!" yelled Link "Let me go!"
Zelda walked to the stands and explained to the crowd what had happened. Then she walked over to the other rider and said,
"I am letting you go. Leave Hyrule. If you come back here, I will not stop the fight. And I promise you, you will lose. NOW GO!"
As Zelda yelled these last words, she let the rider go from her magic grip. He fell to the ground, got up and ran to his horse. He mounted, and the horse ran like the wind.
"Link, follow me." Zelda said softly. Link loosened up, gave a hateful look at the rider, and followed Zelda. They walked into the castle, right up into Zelda's tower room.
"Why did you stop me?!" yelled Link.
"Because, Link, if you killed him, I would not be able to protect you from Hyrule law. You would be executed." Link looked at her, and his rage left him.
"I know, I know." He said. He turned towards the door and said
"Goodbye, Zelda." Zelda watched him walk out. There was something about that goodbye that gave her a odd feeling. She looked outside and thought about that day, fifteen years ago, when Link came to her palace and snuck inside. The day they first met.
