Disclaimer: Even though I own most of the characters, I have to put a disclaimer here for the character `iMac'. I did not create the character (I got it from a picture I saw on the `net). The picture is called iMac Girl, created by Satoshi "Toy" Igarashi (Satoshi-san, if you're out there… don't sue. ._.; I'll change the character. ^^;). Also, the song "Liberi Fatali" is Latin and is copyright (©) of Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA). I'll be adding the English translation of the song in Chapter 4. I just felt the song kind of fit this chapter of the fanfic series. XP By the way, for those who don't know, liberi fatali means "fated children" in English.

Prologue

The Beasts of Sleep shall awaken. The Phoenix of Dreams has been disturbed. The world shall fall into total chaos. Ryuujin is now the age of 8. Seven years ago, he received training from each of the Demi-Gods.

A sharp cry is heard above the skies of the Demi-God Realm; a figure flies overhead, its wings outspread to their full span. It cries a loud cry once more as it flies away.

Ryuujin stirs in his bed; the cries of the bird above awaken him from him sleep. Suddenly the small dragon's eyes pop open as he sits up sharply.

"What the hell was that?" Ryuujin says quietly, he turns to the window and looks outside to the darkened skies of the heavens. He slowly gets out of bed and walks over to the window; the crystal around his neck glows a soft white as it bounces against his chest. Ryuujin flaps his wings slightly, levitating himself up to the windowsill.

"What's going on out there?" Ryuujin sighs and looks as a blur dashes across the moon. Ryuujin gasps.

`What was that? Should I go out there? What will my Uncle Sabre say?' Ryuujin had been staying with Sabre in the northern part of the Demi-God Realm… seeing as Raven didn't trust Hiroshi one bit. She didn't want her nephew anywhere near him.

Ryuujin concentrates and his left paw glows red and is surrounded in flames, he places it on the glass and it melts instantly.

"Hmm… I bet Uncle Tavern's gonna hate he taught me that… heheheh." Ryuujin runs his scalding hot paw all around the window, creating a hole big enough for him to squeeze out. Ryuujin lands on the soft ground with a thud. "Oww… Oh well, it's part cloud anyways." Ryuujin stands and looks up.

"Now to tail that-" Ryuujin stops mid-sentence as he looks up as a large demon falls from the sky and lands next to him. It growls and gets in a fighting stance. "Uh… since when do demons fall from the sky?" Ryuujin smirks and raises his paw, still covered in flames. He lets out the rest of the burning energy with a Flame Ball. The demon dodges and retaliates with a big black ball of anti-matter.

Ryuujin quickly dodges and looks behind him as a tree disintegrates. His eyes flicker.

"Oh… so you wanna play with Reality, huh? Well… that's my specialty… not yours!" Ryuujin releases his blue aura and holds out a paw. He summons up enough energy to create a small black ball of energy with white bolts of anti-matter zooming around it in his palm. He heaves it at the demon… who throws a ki ball at it, deflecting.

"Damn… fine then. You want a fight? You get one!" Ryuujin holds out a paw and his sword, Tatsu Reikon (Soul Dragon), appears in it. It is the same sword that appeared when the crystal was placed around his neck. He had named it with the help of Hiroshi. On Ryuujin's chest, the crystal glows a soft white as the sword is summoned. Ryuujin dashes at the demon and makes a perfect slice; slicing it into two.

The demon shrieks in pain as the sword hits.

(- Inside, Sabre growls and turns up the TV. He wonders what all the noise is outside and looks out the window to check. -)

Sabre growls and kicks open the door, sword in hand. He looks over to see the sight of Ryuujin and the demon. The demon halves begin to burn, causing smoke to lift into the air- not to mention the horrid smell. Ryuujin looks at his uncle with an uneasy grin. Sabre looks at the demon and then at the dragon before him; he glares.

"What the hell happened here?! Why aren't you in bed?" Sabre scolds Ryuujin.

"Well, it's not my fault that this dash was flying around an-", Ryuujin is cut off by Sabre.

"Whoa… whoa. Dash? Since when do dashes fly?" Sabre said, becoming annoyed at the whole situation.

"If you'd let me finish… I woke up to some big loud cry. Then I looked out the window to see what was happening. I saw some dash fly across the moon. I don't know if it was some huge bird or what." Ryuujin said, completing his sentence.

"… The Dream Phoenix… it can't be awoken…" Sabre mumbled to himself. Ryuujin looks at Sabre and blinks.

Ryuujin looks at his uncle with confusion, "Dream… wha? I think you had too many bee-" He stops mid sentence as a cold chill runs through his body. He looks around and blinks, "Uhm… did you feel that?"

Sabre blinks, "Feel what?" He then is lifted off his feet as another demon flies down. This demon has a set of 5ft demon wings that spread from his back in a marvelous display. Ryuujin growls. Sabre smirks, "Damn, you're a big one. I'll make you a deal; you put me down, and I won't kill you… just maim… then kill." The demon looks up at the Demi-God and sneers.

"Why should I? I've been sent by a special someone to destroy the dragon." His eyes avert their gaze over to Ryuujin. Ryuujin glares. "Me? Hah. Who is this "special someone" your boyfriend?" Sabre growls, "Quit taunting him and get me down! Never mind… " He sighs; waving a hand, freezing the ground beneath the demon, thus making him loose his footing.

Sabre lands on his feet as the telekinetic hold is forcibly stopped. The demon teleports to another spot, growling; blood drips from it's chin. "Bastard, you shall pay. But… before I start with you… I'll destroy what I was sent here to destroy!" He charges at Ryuujin, his wings spread out.

"Bring it on! I'll kill you so fast; I guarantee you won't even feel it." Ryuujin says with a smirk and concentrates as angel feathers fall from the night sky. Sabre looks at his nephew in surprise. `I don't think he was taught that…' Sabre watches in amazement as the feathers form a ball around the young dragon. The ball becomes clear and seems to disappear. Ryuujin smirks.

"Come and get me."

The demon slams into what appears to be the barrier as it reappears on contact. The demon ricochets into a tree. Ryuujin summons up some Holy energy in his left paw and fires a medium sized ball of white energy; completely destroying the demon.

Sabre's eyes widen from the amazing sight before him. Ryuujin smirks and lowers the barrier of clear Holy energy. "So… what's this about a Dream Phoenix?"

(- Back in Sabre's home, Sabre, Ryuujin, Hiroshi, Tavern, and Raven all meet. They tell Ryuujin about the curse of the Dream Beasts and the Spirits created to defeat them. -)

"The Dream Beasts, also known as the 4 Guardians of Sleep, are four beasts that each represent a element of sleep and dreams." Sabre explains, "They consist of the Dream Phoenix, Beast of Sleep and Dreams, the Griffin, Beast of Soul, the Fairy, Beast of Heart, and the Cerberus, Beast of Reality."

Ryuujin looks up from his cookie, "Hey wait a second… I thought I was the Demi-God of Reality! Why does some… some… dream thing get my element?!"

Hiroshi smirks, "You're the 2nd Demi-God of Reality, and the powers of reality were sort of duplicated. Your father, Rekenrou, has the original and Cerberus has the copy. Cerberus' powers are more based on the power to control what happens in one's dreams and yours is based on that along with the mixture of Space, Time, and Existence. Simple."

Ryuujin blinks and grabs another cookie. "So basically, I got the cooler version." Hiroshi nods; chuckling a bit. Hiroshi had somewhat calmed his temper when Ryuujin was born. This was good news for the other Demi-Gods… and bad news for anyone calling him a "softie". Anyone who called him that usually never lived to see the next dawn.

"Cool… so what's so bad about the Dream Phoenix being awake? Why are they all asleep anyway?" Ryuujin reaches for another cookie but Tavern stops him. "No more for you, you should be in bed anyways." He says, taking a cookie.

With one swift motion, Ryuujin snatches it; leaving a surprised Tavern biting into nothing. "You had more than me… 5 actually. I only had 2 so far." Raven snickers. "The Dream Phoenix feeds off of one's energy to create some of the most horrid, demonic, scary nightmares and the most vivid, beautiful, lovely dreams ever known. The reason that the Dream Beasts are sleep is because they have a lot of power and can become cranky. If they are cranky they could destroy the 7 dimensions."

"Ohh... okay. So uh… where are they located?" Ryuujin looks out the window as the clouds below begin turning dark. "Oh… and are the clouds supposed to turn black?"

"They're from the Dream Realm and-what did you say?" Raven looks out the window and down at the clouds. "Damnit… it's starting."

"What's starting? What's going on?" Ryuujin says, somewhat frantic. The crystal around his neck glows a bright white. Ryuujin holds the crystal in his paws; expecting it closely.

"This thing glows too much." Ryuujin sighs, "I bet it doesn't even do anything." The crystal glows brightly at this comment. "Uhm, I think it's mad."

Hiroshi looks over at his nephew and then at the glowing crystal in the dragon's paws. Suddenly, Ryuujin gets another cold chill and he looks up suddenly. "I… I think we should get out of here." Everyone looks over to the dragon in question.

"What? Leave why?" Tavern looks a bit worried as he asks this. Raven looks outside once more. Ryuujin nods. "Yes, leave. Something's coming. I don't know who or what but it's coming… and it's coming quick." At that moment the platter of cookies falls from the table and a loud whistling is heard. Sabre summons his sword in hand and looks at Raven. She nods and everyone starts toward the door.

Just at that moment, a giant claw bursts through the wooden door; splintering it to bits. Raven gasps and gets out her staff. Suddenly, Ryuujin spreads his wings and flies in front of everyone. He gets between the claw and everyone else and begins chanting; the claw, which is attached to a large black-scaled arm, inches toward him.

"Ryuujin! What the hell are you doing?! Get out of the way!" Tavern shouts. He and Sabre look over at Hiroshi who glares at the claw. "Leave him alone. He knows what he's doing." "What the-what are you saying?! He's just-" At that moment, a pair of white angel wings grows from Ryuujin's back. They form in between his dragon wings. Everyone, even Hiroshi, looks at Ryuujin in surprise.

"I know what I'm doing. Everyone get out… now." Sabre nods slowly and everyone leaps out the back window. They all stand behind the house; ready to support their younger kin if needed.

Back in the house, Ryuujin closes his eyes, as the claw is about to grab him; a white glow surrounding his body. The house then begins to shred into tiny bits around him. He opens his eyes and looks in front of him as a large black demon stares back at him. He takes a deep breath, releasing the white glow as everything, including the 4 other Demi-Gods begin to float up into the air. The demon looks like he is frozen in time.

Tavern looks around, "Wha… what's going on? Is Ryuujin doing this?" Raven shakes her head, "I don't think so… he's only 8. He can't possibly…" Sabre looks at his nephew in wonder and amazement; he then notices Hiroshi. Hiroshi silently mumbles something as each of the Demi-Gods is lowered slowly to the ground.

Sabre then speaks. "Hiroshi… did you?" "Yes, I did. Don't worry about me… I advise you to take cover." Raven turns to Hiroshi "Wha-" Just then, a strong force of energy heaves the demon back about 200ft. The force of the energy pushes 3 of the 4 Demi-Gods away as well. Hiroshi is the only one standing. His eyes flash sky-blue for a second… then fade back to green.

Geez, things are getting a little heated, huh? I like this one a lot more than the last two in the series because it ends on a cliffhanger and I actually get to use a few of Ryuu-sama's techniques. The first one, for anyone who wants to know, is called Angel Feather Barrier and it's the barrier technique he uses against the first demon that attacks him. The second one's name will be revealed in the next chapter. The white energy ball is a Holy Ball and the flaming paw thing he uses to melt the window glass isn't named and is sort of basic use of Fire Energy. But, just to keep others from giving it a name, I'll call it Flaming Paw. Sounds lame, huh? Oh well! The fourth chapter, "Awakening of the Bird of Dreams: Part 2", isn't ready yet.
