Upon the new world.

Geography

This world is completely unexplored and unspoiled, most of its natural resources untouched. It still contains vast amounts of water, and greenery, with several species abounding of plants unseen for eons back home. It is a young world, with several billion years of life and usefulness ahead of it. It is located a short distance from home, only a six light year journey. There are other worlds around it, but none as useful. It revolves around a typical star that illuminates it approximately half of the time, though the light differs as the world comes into different periods of its rotation around it. The world contains seven major oceans, filled with water and life, as well as many sources of unsalted water dotting the continents. Upon the poles lay more sources of water, though frozen due to the differing climates around the world. There is land, with many plates forming the crust, though most of these lay submerged. The land is spotted with color and flora, and depending on the climate the life and land differs. There are areas of intense aridity and areas that are almost constantly shrouded in humidity.

The Native Peoples

The natives upon this world have little influence on their environment. They have constructed primitive cities relying on steel, though some have cities constructed of stone. Their expansion into their galactic environment is limited, consisting of nothing but a few optic devices positioned around their world. These people are intensely divided based upon location; it is unlikely that one from one continent could converse with another from over only one of their oceans. Their languages and customs are incredibly varied. Some of the natives to this world live in terrible conditions, with no shelter; while only an ocean away others live in relative splendor. The divisions extend even to the same continents, where some appear to live on the refuse of others.

Their government system is also divided. Each group of people seems to have a different leader, who in each system appears to have different degrees of power. It is a far cry from the unity of our home. Their leaders regard us as "aliens" and have attempted communication. Having studied these peoples in the past, we showed them a hologram of their likeness. They were confused and attempted to converse with it at first.

Others of their kind seem to regard us as gods. Their religions are mostly divided, and some believe that their world will soon end, and that we were the precursors to this event. They are awed by our abilities. These natives are incredibly short lived, having an average lifespan of only about 80 revolutions of their world around their star. Some appeared to be stricken by our presence, falling down ill after having been near to us. This happened several times to many of them. They appear to believe that we have powers to kill them at our whim, and in treating the short lasting sickness they pray to their God, applying bursts of electricity to each other's chests to promote life in an apparent religious practice. What we did not understand was the distinction between this death and the apparent hibernation these natives go through every 12 hours. Even the less advanced animals upon this world hibernate like such.

Some regarded us with hostility, but their weapons are primitive. The most powerful we saw at first were propulsion based arms that fired a lead projectile at high speeds. When these proved ineffective, they flew over our landing site in metal machines and dropped explosives. When we retaliated with one shot of our artillery, they fled quickly.

Conclusion

This world is ripe for colonization, and I entreat to the leaders of Shiraz to consider making a move before others do. The world is beautiful and natural despite the native inhabitants, and there are many resources, including water, that we could make use of to become an irresistible force before our rivals discover it.
