Fan Fiction ❯ Vagam Dracorum ❯ The First Half ( Chapter 1 )
Prologue
The War
It was the eighteenth year of the horrid war between the humans and the dragons. The beautiful pink, purple, blue, and yellow sky was darkened by smoke from the dragons' attacks. The streams were no longer blue and the sun hardly shone. The war had for two reasons. One was the mysterious the disappearance of Rexum Dracorum's, the dragon king, day old child. The child was taken from him years was taken from him during the first night of its existence. The other reason would be the disappearance of his wife the next day. Of course Dracorum was remarried, but his new wife; Kaylet was the one who gave Dracorum the idea to attack the humans.
She convinced him that the humans had stolen his wife and child. Once convinced the peaceful king requested an audience with King Damian, the human king. Dracorum gave Damian an ultimatum, that if his wife and child were not returned within one month the dragons would declare war upon the humans. Damian tried to find the missing wife and child, but try as he might Damian was unable to find the two. So thence the war started.
You may think that this would be a short, peaceful war. The humans should have no problem defeating the dragons. The have gun power and strategy. Well wasn't that simple. The dragons can take on a human form from the day they are born. When they are born, they are given an orb to wear around their neck. If the orb ever broke, they'd die. A male dragon's orb would automatically reveal the color dragon the child would be, while a female would have to wait for true loves first kiss. Red dragons became members of the royal court, the green dragons were the knights, black dragons took the profession of a priest or judge, and the blue dragons were the teachers, doctors, lawyers, and any other profession of that standard. At that time, the dragons created a legend about a purple dragon that would create peace among the war sides.
When Damian started prosecuting the dragons in human cities 5 years ago it took over 2 months to determine if the person was a dragon or a human. The prosecution of the dragons is why I went on the quest. I was going to Dracorum's Castle to convince Dracorum this war must stop before everyone is dead. I wanted the dragons to win, but I really should have been against them. You see I am Damian's 18-year-old daughter Princess Demeter. Every since I saw my best friend's family killed I have hated my father. Now I love my mother, Queen Rose. She's the one who allowed me to go on this journey. She even gave me a darkened orb for good luck. It's almost as though she wanted my father to lose his battle. Therefore, I left into the woods that I hardly knew with only my horse, Dartanian, and a few supplies to keep me safe. I began to hear foot steps following me as I traveled on; though I didn't fear them I had many reason's that I should.....
Chapter 1
The Quest Begins
I was in the castle finishing my light packing. I was going to leave in the early dusk so my parent wouldn't catch me. When I saw a glimpse of sunlight, I ran quietly through the main hall and to the door. I was almost to the door when I heard from behind,
"Demeter where are you off to?" My mother asked. I had been caught.
"I am going out for a while. I have to go see someone." I told her. She gave me that mother's look. You know the one that tells you she doesn't believe a word you just said.
"Honey just tell me where you are going. And do tell the truth." She responded. I gave a sigh of defeat.
"I am going to Rexum Dracorum's Castle to try and stop the war." I explain in a solemn voice. I swear she almost broke into water works. She gave me a tight hug and wept even more.
"I am so proud of you, Demeter."
"WHAT?!?! " I nearly shouted. She shushed me.
"Look my dear. You are trying to stop your father's acts of cruelty the best way possible and if King Hierophat stopped fighting, maybe Damian would to." My mother told me. She then left the room for a second. I was fixing to leave when she came back in holding purple stoned sword and a gray orb. "You'll need protection and luck on your quest. Be careful and good luck."
"Thank you mother. I love you." I smiled. She really was on my side. I would do this for her. She has hated this war since it started.
"Now hurry before your father wakes up." She urged. I ran out the door and to the stables to saddle up Dartanian, my black, red eyed stallion. Before the trumpets sounded to wake the village, I was on my way out. I had my home behind me and the forest before me.
I have made it to the middle of the forest now. I have only stopped to allow the footsteps a chance to catch up. I have a feeling I know exactly who it is, but I can't let him follow. He would get himself killed. He trips about threes times before I give up and decide to talk to him,
"Draco, I know you're following me. Come on out." I tell him. He slowly walks out. His clothes are torn and his hair is a mess. He is a blue dragon. When his family was slaughtered by the army, he became a slave. He is the only true friend I have so I like to stick up for him.
"How'd you know it was me?" He asks in his whiney voice.
"Well I don't know, I only heard you trip a few hundred times. So why are you following me anyway?" I ask.
"You're mother told me I should help you on your quest. She didn't tell me what you were doing, but I can't disobey her. I'd probably be beheaded by your father." He explains.
"If you must know, I'm going to Rexum Dracorum's Castle to create peace, so you can go back. I can't watch you and protect myself."
"That's suicide! If he figures out you are the human princess he'll have you killed."
"I have to try Draco. My father is killing innocent people by the thousands."
"Well at least let me come."
"Why should I?"
"He's less likely to kill you if you are with me, a dragon. Also you don't know the way to his castle, and I do."
"Fine, fine, fine. You may come with me. Just don't get in the way." I agree. He smiles and jumps with joy. "Now lets continue. I want to cover more ground before dark."
"Right, let's go!" He cheers. And so we continue on my quest to settle the dispute among the humans and dragons.
Chapter 2
Into the Woods We Go
We are headed slowly into the deeper part of the woods. The air is getting thicker as the temperature drops. I can see Dartanian's breath snort out of his nose. It's odd I can't see my breath or Draco's.
"Hey Draco, are these woods under a spell or something?" I ask him.
"No not that I know of. It's just cold. Why?" He replies looking at me with a confused look on his face.
"I was just wondering because I can see Dartanian's breath in the cold but not ours'. Do you know why?" I respond. He thinks on the topic for a few minutes and finally figures out an answer to the question at hand.
"Well now that I think about it there might be a spell on these woods. Its to protect humans and dragons. In these woods you can only see a beast's breath."
We continue to walk as the sky darkens as day turns to night.
"Hey Princess, maybe we should stop and rest for the night. We don't know these woods and I know you don't want to get lost." Draco suggests. I look down and think about it. I want to get there as soon as possible, but if we get lost, we may never get there. I look at him and nod.
"By the way, Draco, please just call me Demeter." I remind him. He always calls me Princess because I am royalty and they make him address me in the proper way, but I prefer being called by my name.
"Sure no problem. Do you want me to tie Dartanian to a tree?"
"I don't think he'd leave, so, no I'll just let him roam a little." I reply.
"I don't think that's a good idea..." he starts.
"Look he's my horse so I'll do what I want with him." I snap. He nods in fear with understanding. I feel so bad. He has been beaten all of his life for arguing with his master. After a few minutes, he is asleep, such a typical boy. You give them a place to lay down and what do they do? They go to sleep the lazy bums. I can't wait to see Rexum Dracorum's castle. It should be one of the most amazing things that I have ever seen. As I imagine what the castle will be like I drift off into a deep slumber.

Rexum Dracorum's Castle
"Hierophant darling, do you think our army can really win against the humans?" Queen Kaylet asks her husband.
"They'd better. I put them under command of our best, Sir Koft. If they don't win this next attack we may have to back out of this war." Dracorum sighs.
"But don't you want to find your child and wife?"
"Yes, but it's not worth losing all of my men. There are children and women dying in the human cities everyday. I can't let that happen. For all I know that's where my child and wife are and they'd get killed in this whole matter." He responds. A tear slips down his cheek as he realizes the for the first time his missing loved ones may be already dead.
"Don't worry I bet they are alive and well." Kaylet encourages. He nods and looks out the window.
"I hope you're right Kaylet. Now go get some rest. You must keep your beautiful body in good health."
"Goodnight my handsome king." she says walking to bed.
"Goodnight my queen."

King Damian's Castle
"Sir Scofton has the army found my daughter yet?" King Damian asks a young knight.
"No sir. We have looked all over the place and still no signs. We couldn't even find horse tracks." he replied.
"Well Sir Scofton just keep looking." Queen Rose cried. King Damian put his arm around his crying wife. "Did you look towards the mountains?"
"Yes your highness we have looked in all of her normal hiding places." Scofton replied.
"Call off our men at Capbon and have them aid in the search. I bet Dracorum had something to do with this." Damian growled.
"But sir! If we call off our men the dragons will win." Scofton argued. Damian looked down and sighed.
"After they find my daughter have them and the rest of the army storm Dracorum's Castle. After you do that you may marry my daughter."
"You mean it? Wow you sir. I'll go retrieve the men and we'll have your daughter in no time." Scofton said running out and mounting his roan stallion. Queen Rose looked at her distressed husband.
"Damian how could you do that? You know Demeter hates him!" She yelled.
"I know but her safety is more important than who her husband is." Damian responded. Rose sighed and shook her head in disbelief.
"Whatever, look I'm going to bed."
"But..aren't you worried about our daughter?"
"Not really. She can take care of herself."
"Well goodnight my love." Damian said. Queen Rose then walked towards her room. She looked out a window and whispered,
"Take care my daughter."

In the Woods
The sun is now slowly rising and the moon is falling back to the horizon. Today is going to be a beautiful one. The sun is high and the flowers are bright.
I begin to look around and noticed something missing.
"Draco, Dartanian's gone!" I scream. He shots up, looks at me and rolled his eyes.
"I told you that leaving loose was a bad idea." Draco said.
"I guess you did. Look just help me find him." I order. He nods and so our search begins. Not that I'm worried about my horse, he is very independent. We look high and low, near and far. He was just nowhere in sight. He knows how to hide very well. I don't even know why he'd run off. It's probably just a mare in heat. He's as horny as a trombone player.
"Maybe we should just capture you another horse princess...I mean Demeter. He seems to have disappeared." Draco offers. What type of advice is that? He knows that I love my horse and nothing will keep me from finding him. I am a woman with high hopes.
"Draco just keep looking."
"Well I was just saying that because there is a wild heard down there." Draco responds pointing to a small heard of wild horses. That's when I spotted him. Right by a white mare stood that horse of mine.
"Dartanian get up here!!" I call to him. He looks as if to call goodbye to the mare and comes trotting up to me in an apologetic style. "It's okay boy, I'm not mad. You just frightened me. I thought you might have been hurt." I tell him pating him on the head. He nozzles my neck and nickers in a friendly manner. "Just don't do it again."
"Well we should be going. It's already noon and we're still in this pityful forest." Draco says.
"For once you have a brilliant idea, even though I kind of like these woods." I sigh.
"Don't worry there are more beautiful woods out there. They get prettier as we get closer to Hierophan't Castle." Draco laughs.
"Well lets go." I command. We are on the trail once again. I have no clue as to how long we'll be on this track, but I hope it isn't long. The war is only getting worse by the day and it won't stop until I do something. Complete my task.
Chapter 3
5 days later in Dracorum's Castle Kaylet was trying to convince her husband to attack at Carrion Point, a historical landmark for any human on the planet. It was where the first humans had landed on the planet. He kept refusing the attack because the humans had backed down from Capbon.
"Dear listen to me, if we attack them there we will win this war and both sides can return to a normal life." She argues.
"Kaylet, why should we attack them when they are not attacking us. For all we know they could be surrendering."
"Actually you'll be glad to know I heard from Sir James that they are all searching for a missing person." Kaylet smirks.
"Who are they looking for? If Damian called off all of his men is must be pretty serious." Dracorum asks.
"His daughter Princess Demeter. It turns out she has run away."
"Damian has a daughter? I never knew that."
"Well it turns out she is the same age your missing child should be and I don't recall his wife ever being pregnant." Kaylet responds. "I did think of a plan, but you'd never except it."
"What's that?"
"I thought we could send a few of our men out to find her and bring her here. Then we can kill her. That would make them pay for any harm done to you missing wife and child."
"You know Kaylet, I like that idea. In fact, I'm going to send a message to Sir Trunks to find her. He is the best officer we have and he is excellent at tracking." Dracorum replies. Kaylet nods before heading out to the garden to a tall-blacked man. He gave a respectful bow and followed her.
"Konner my plan continues to go as planned. Now where is that brat? I have to make sure she doesn't get here before Sir Trunks finds her. If she does everything will be shattered."
"She is on her way to Knights Halt, which just happens to be where Sir Trunks is. Lets just hope he gets the kings message before she gets there. We know him and his flirting. I don't think there is a girl out there he hasn't flirted with." Konner chuckles. Kaylet had to crack up at this response. Sir Trunks was the armies hottest item. With his short brown hair and green eyes what girl wouldn't fall for him?
"Well at least she's a human. He'll probably tease her before any flirting takes place."
"Actually Queen Rose gave her an orb, so he won't be able to tell right off she's a human." Konner replies.
"But Konner don't you realize that the other men will know that she is the human princess."
"Madam I hate to crash that vision but this girl doesn't mean to hurt any of them and is being led by a dragon. Heck I doubt many of the men know that there is even a human princess. Come on Dracorum didn't even know."
"That's because he never made it publicly known."
"Well we'll just have to hurry. I want that princess's head on a shiney platter and soon!!" Kaylet screached and went on her way.
Meanwhile with Princess Demeter and Draco.....
It's been a month since we left the shelter of the castle and Draco continues to lead the way. I swear he is leading me in circles. I know these stupid trees, I saw them about ten minutes ago. Damn that dragon.
"DRACO!!! STOP LEADING ME IN CIRCLES AND GET STARTED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION!!" I yell at him. He and Dartanian jump about a foot. I am not the type of person to yell I guess.
"Yes..Demeter. Right away." Draco studders. He finally gets on a straight path and the senary becomes a whole lot better. A new set of trees and different blades of grass. I love being in control of that blunder head of a dragon.
"So how long will it take to get there?" I ask. He thinks about it and answers,
"About 12 months. It'll take a month to get to the dragon side of the planet and then 11 months to reach Dracorum's Castle." He replies.
"A whole year?? I thought it'd only take a few days. Nobody mentioned a whole year."
"You didn't ask. Besides at least you'll get to spend it with me!!" He laughs. Is that supose to make me feel better?? Well it doesn't. I'm going to be pure crazy by the time this is all over with, either that or Draco will be dead.
"Demeter, I have a question to ask you."
"Yes Draco, what is it?" I ponder.
"Do you think you'll ever settle down?" He asks.
"What do you mean settle down?"
"You know get married, have children. The basics of every human's life." He replies.
"Well I guess so. I' never really thought about it. Are you going to?"
"It depends if I find the right dragon girl." He says as sparkles fill his eyes. What is it with men? They seem to get so excited about women. It's as if they have found a new toy they want.
"Oh and what would the dream girl be like?" I ask him trying to keep the converstation going.
"Oh I don't know. I guess I'd want her to have long red hair, bluish grey eyes, and a caring attitude." He says. I started laughing. If there was a person like that in the world then he'd be lucky to find her. I myself am you average girl. Long magenta hair, green eyes, and one of the most agressive attitudes you'll find. "So who's your dream boy?"
"Um well I don't know. I've never thought about it." I say.
"Common I won't laugh." He begs. His eyes gave the begging look.
"Well I guess he'd be tall with dark brown hair that is cut just above his ears. He'd have green eyes, like mine, and would he'd be very gentle..."
"So you can beat the crap out of him?" Draco laughsinterupting me.
"No, I just don't like somebody who'd compete with my attitude."
"What ever.." He sighs Dartanian then butted Draco in the chest. "OW..okay I take it back. I'm sorry."
"I forgive you this time Draco, but remember that if Dartanian doesn't like how you talk to me then he may kill you one day."
"Right, I forget that he's your personal bodyguard."
"Hey what is that?" I ask pointing to a wooden building.
"Oh that's the Knight's Halt, where the dragon knights stay after a battle." Draco explains.
"So we must be on the Dragon side of this planet."
"That would be correct ma'am."
"Well we don't want to get their attention so let pass by quietly." I suggest.
"Good idea. These guys will litteraly kill a human, especially a human princess."
"Why do you think I made the suggestion? Now be quiet and stay close." I order him. We slowly go towards the building hoping we won't get caught.
Chapter 4
The Knight's Halt
We slowly pass by the area. I think everything is going to plan. Dartanian then stops in the middle of his tracks and looks at the post. There was a pure white mare. She has her saddle and bridle on as though she was fixing to be ridden out.
"Come on Dartanian, it's time to go." I whisper in his ears. He then rears and neighs aloud. The mare then nickers at him.
"Demeter we should get going. That is Sir Trunks's horse. He's one of the top knights." Draco tells me.
"I know, but Dartanian isn't moving. That mare has gotten his attention." I explain to him. The door of the tavern flies open hitting a passed out knight. Out walks a tall knight. He calms his horse down and looks at me. He flashes one of those flirtatious smiles as he walks over.
"Hello there. What brings a beautiful girl like you to a place like this?" He asks.
"Demeter, be careful that's Sir Trunks." Draco warns.
"Oh that's your name, Demeter. Sounds like a beautiful princess." Trunks jokes. Who does this guy think he is, making a pass at me? With those beautiful eyes, nice hair, wonderful smile..Wait a minute! Oh god no, I think I like him. I then burst into tears. "What is it? Why'd I make you cry?"
"You're making me like you!!" I yell at him. Dartanian then lifts his hoof and kicks Trunks in the one place you're told to never hit a guy. He nearly falls over in pain, but is quick to regain his pose.
"Wow that's a brut of a horse. First he stirred up my mare and then he kicks me." Trunks laughs.
"Well he does have a thing for the mares, as for you, he hates people that make me cry." I reply. Draco is watching on in near shock. I guess it's because I'm talking to somebody who should want to kill me. A squadron of knights then runs out of the building to see what is going on. The biggest one looks at me with a death glare and then turns to Trunks.
"Sir Trunks, that's Princess Demeter!!" He announces to the world.
"So..." Trunks responds.
"She's the human princess, and if I'm correct your assignment is to kill her."
"Well I know, but she doesn't seem like a trouble maker. Come to think of it Princess why are you here?" Trunks asks.
"I'm going to see Rexum Dracorum to try and stop this ridiculous war." I reply.
"Ridiculous? Look the king's just trying to get his wife and child back." Trunks responds.
"I know he is, but he's also getting thousands of innocent women and children killed, and I'm not talking about the humans. My father has started prosecuting the dragons in our cities. If this war is not stopped, more will die. I'm not trying to help the humans, I'm trying to help the dragons. So, if you please, I need to get on my way." I explain.
"You want to help us?" Trunks asks.
"Yes, what's so surprising about that?"
"You're a human princess, you should want to kill us. Well, I'll come with you. If I'm around you shouldn't have any problems with any other knights." He offers. I slightly blush, I am going to have this cute knight helping me get to the castle. "Besides, you're going the wrong way. Dracorum's castle is west of here. You're headed north. That would lead you back home."
"What! Draco, you said we were going the right way." I nag.
"Well you would be safer at home and I can't see you going to get yourself killed." He argues as Trunks goes to get his horse.
"Well if that's the way you want to think then stay here. Trunks will lead me to the castle." I reply as Trunks comes to my side.
"Well I'll come, but I still don't like it." He sighs.
"So what's your mare's name?" I ask.
"Mythical, what's your stallion's name?"
"Dartanian." I reply.
"If we're aren't careful, we may soon have a foal following us around." He jokes.
"Yeah, but I guess it'd be hard to stop. What can we say, they're in love." I respond. Trunks nods.
"Well he's not the only one in love with a beauty." Trunks replies.
"Really?"
"I think you as beautiful as the stars. Not only are you beautiful, you're very sweet and gentle." He says. Draco starts laughing.
"You don't know her to well, she's as mean as her horse. There's no nice about her."
"Hey you had better give her a bit of respect. You are lower rank than I am and that gives me the right to beat the living daylights out of you." Trunks responds. If I didn't know better, I'd say he was defending me. "Besides I think it's you who doesn't know her. She may seem aggressive and mean, but I think she's only trying to protect you."
"Well, I guess that might be true, but I still don't think she's sweet."
"Will you two stop arguing? It's giving me a migraine." I order. They both pipe down.
"Sorry." They apologize.
"Now lets cover at least a few more miles until we have to camp." I command. Soon we travel on as the sunsets. Together we may actually arrive at the castle in one piece.
Chapter 5
Love Pedals
We have been traveling for a total of 3 months. Sir Trunks and Draco constantly argue over who is the better dragon and which one I'd most likely go out with. I am always breaking up a little catfight between the two. Mythicalal is now caring Dartanian's first foal and has been for two months. They have stayed by the other's side since the conception. As for myself, well I'm doing great considering I have been around two testosterone filled dragons for all this time.
"Hey Demi?" Trunks questions. They have decided that Demi is a perfect nickname for me. I tried to talk them out of it but it wouldn't stop.
"What Trunks?"
"Why don't we stop in at the Knight's Inn for the night, so we can sleep comfortably." Trunks suggests.
"Hmm, yes why don't we go stop at a resting place for all of the dragon knights and see how long it takes them to realize I am the human princess and slotter me. I think we will keep on our track and sleep in the woods like we always do." I reply.
"Well you do have a dragon orb and I am one of the top knights, they would never even guess that you were a human let alone a human princess. Now come on we could all use a good rest so we can be rentergized for the rest of the trip." Trunks says. I guess he has a point. I look toward Draco for his recommendations.
"I personally think Trunks is right. If you think about it, not many dragons know that King Damian has a daughter."
"True, well okay I guess it wouldn't hurt. Besides I think Mythicalal would enjoy a vet visit to get that foal checked on." I reply. They all applaud my decision. Even the horses seem to be a little happier. We all make our way through the woods. Just as we step out of the woods, it starts raining.
"Oh shit this is just lovely." Trunks hisses.
"What is it making your clothes shrink? Or is it making you look like a hideous drowned rat?" Draco laughs. Trunks then hits Draco. "Princess he hit me!!"
"Children please stop fighting before I ground you for the weekend." I joke.
"He started it. Demi do I really look like a drowned rat?" Trunks cries. I nearly start laughing at his pitiful face.
"No not at all."
"Thank you. I knew I could never be that ugly." Trunks boasts.
"You look more like a drowned sewer rat." I smirk.
"Nice one Demeter." Draco complements.
"Really?? But how? I'm so handsome." Trunks wails.
"Oh shove it Trunks. You really need to get over yourself. If anything here is nice, looking it is Demeter. She's one of the prettiest girls you'll ever meet." Draco replies.
"You've got a point. She is pretty cute."
"Yep, I know."
"Are you two goggling over me?" I ask.
"Well yeah, you've got to admit you are beautiful." Trunks responds. I can feel my face turn red. I have never had a guy flirt with me that was so handsome. *Sigh*
"Hey I think I see the Knight's Inn up the hill." Draco announces. Sure enough there it was. Finally we can get out of this crappy weather and Trunks will stop his complaining.
"Let's hurry so nobody will see what a wreck I am." Trunks urges. So we quicken our step and approach the Inn. When we arrive a stable boy comes out.
"Would you like for me to take your horses in to the stables?" He asks.
"Sure thanks kid." Trunks says. We both get off our horses and take our things.
"Hey you're Sir Trunks! Gosh sir you're my hero."
"Really. Well I didn't know I had fans." Trunks chuckles. God, he goes around boasting about being a head knight and yet he doesn't know he has fans? The boy hooks a lead onto the horses' bridle. That's when Dartanian starts to rear. I look back just in time to see him break free and go for a speedy get away.
"Dartanian!! Really you can act even more immature than Trunks sometimes." I scold him. He looks at me with a look of disgust, after being compared to Sir Trunks who wouldn't be, and returns.
"Wow he's a wild one." The stable boy comments.
"I know. Here I'll take him. He's not used to strangers." I respond.
"Thank you. I can usually handle most horses but not this one. He's wild." The boy comments. He shows me the way to the stables and I put Dartanian in the stall next to Mythicalal. Dartanian reaches his nozzle over to nudge her. They are two beautiful beasts. Leaving the stable, I start to realize how much my love for Trunks has grown. Although I know a relationship between us would fail miserably because of our differences. The two boys seem to be talking about something. They then look at me a stop abruptly. I guess they must've been talking about me.
"Well the horses are up. Let's get in before it gets to dark." I suggest. They nod and we enter. The room is full of ruckus. The knights are having a party over something that they did either that or they are drunk.
"Hey look who it is. If it isn't the legendary Sir Trunks." The guys shout. Some come up and give him a whack on the shoulder and the others just said their hellos. Trunks walks to the counter to get our rooms.
"Hey Joe, I need three rooms." Trunks says. Joe flips though his records and responds,
"Sorry, I only have to rooms and both of them have only one bed."
"Well we'll work something out. We always do." Trunks replies taking the keys. We head to find the rooms.
"Hey you two could always sleep together." Draco laughs. I punch him in the shoulder.
"Ow, I was just saying that because I'm sure Trunks doesn't want to put his reputation on the line by going into the same room as a another guy just to make you happy."
"Actually I think it's best to keep her happy, so we'll share the room. She can have the other to herself." Trunks replies. Wow he's so sweet; most knights are to full of pride to risk it all for a girl.
"Thank you Trunks. I'm going on to my room then to get some rest." I say walking in.
"Night Demi." They both say.
"Goodnight boys." I respond. So far, this trip has turned out pretty great. I've made a new friend, made great distance, and I've learned a thing or two about the wilderness. As I settle down in the room, I start to wonder how my parents are doing. I wish there was a way I could contact them, but, knowing my father, the lines have been tapped. I being thinking about how I was going to address the king when I met him. From what father said, Rexum Dracorum is cruel and kills everyone that disagrees with his orders. This is a lot of work for a princess. Hey it's dark outside. Wow I must've dazed out or something. I'm going to go and see if there's anyone still awake. I know Trunks and Draco are already fast asleep so that means I'll have to talk to some other dragon. I walk down the stairs and notice the only person still awake is Trunks. He's sitting by the fire while starring into the obis. I quietly sneak up on him, just to see how high I can make him jump.
"What are you doing up?" I ask. He jumped right off the couch, well that answers my question. He slowly gets back on the couch.
"Hey Demi." He says as if nothing happened.
"Did I scare the big manly knight." I joke. He starts laughing.
"Well kind of. I was just so lost in thought. Why are you up?"
"I couldn't sleep. Now what's bothering you? Can't seem to win some girls heart?" I ask. He slightly blushes.
"Well that's not why I'm up right now. I am trying to win a girl's heart, but she's to stubborn to take note of it." He replies.
"Oh so why?"
"I was thinking about my family." He said.
"You're family? You hardly mention them, want to talk about it?" I ask curiously.
"Well my mother died after giving birth to me, so I never knew what she was like, my father was always working, and my older sister turned out to be the one who raised me." He responds.
"Wow I'm sorry to hear about your mother. So let me guess your father's a knight too."
"Yes, he's the greatest knight. He's won so many wars with those damn retarded humans it's not even funny." He replies. "I hate the humans, it's thanks to them that my father was never home. All they think about is war. Those selfish bastards." He stops as he realizes that I am a human. "Oh I'm sorry. I keep forgetting you're not a dragon."
"It's okay, I agree with every word you said. Now you understand why I have to get to Rexum Dracorum. If I can get him to stop his fighting, my father may stop his. I would've tried asking my father to stop, but you know he so stuck on his arrogant pride that he'd just ignore me." I tell him. He smiles in agreement.
"So I here you have a fiancée waiting at home for you."
"Says who?"
"Some of the men say that you're supposed to wed Sir Scofton when you get home." Trunks responds.
"What? Since when did this happen. I was never told I was going to have to marry that creep." I complain. "It most've happened when I left. I must be a reward for that bastard."
"I figured it was a forced wedding." Trunks replies. My mind suddenly clicks. I'm having casual conversation with Sir Trunks. He's not so bad. "You know you have beautiful eyes." He compliments as he leans in and gives me a passionate kiss. He then backs off quickly. "Oh god I'm so sorry."
"What makes you think I wanted you to stop?"
"You liked it?" He questions.
"Well of course I did, didn't you?"
"Yes, I enjoyed it very much." I reply as I reach over and return the kiss. Before I know it, we are engaged in a crazy make out session. He then picks me up and carries me up the stairs. He opens the door to my room and we enter the room as we passionately kiss each other.
Chapter 6
The Kings of the Planet
Back in Damian's Castle, the king paces the castle. The concern for his daughter grows more and more by the day. His greatest men had looked high and low for her. Not even the commoners had seen her since her disappearance. Queen Rose kept watching him each day. He was so distressed that when the dragon army had beaten his men at Carrion Point, he didn't care. She approaches the pacing king and gave him a hug. He looked at her.
"Rose, she's been gone for two months. I fear for her safety. She's never been away from this area in her life and with the Dragons trying to bring down our civilization they may want to kill her." Damian sighs. Rose looks into his eyes and sees the concern in his eyes.
"Damian, you know as well as I do that Demeter is a very wise girl. She knows how to stay out of trouble and how to keep from being killed. I bet that she is just fine, wherever she may be." Rose responds.
"I know but the only dragon she's been around is that Draco boy and she may think that all of the dragons are like him. If she came upon one she may make the mistake of trusting one. Besides if Rexum Dracorum found out that I had a daughter and that she had escaped from home he would have a ransom out for her head." Damian says. Rose's eyes then widen with fear. Could she of possibly let her daughter go on a suicidal mission? Dracorum may actually be looking for a way to seek revenge for the disappearance of his wife and child. I may be best to have her brought home. She turns to her husband.
"I know where she is." Rose replies. He looks at her with much confusion on his face. "I was awake when she left. She went to Rexum Dracorum's Castle to ask him to stop his fighting. After I wished her luck she took off."
"What? You've known this whole time that your daughter could be on her way to be killed and yet you didn't say a thing to stop her!"
"Well if you would stop torturing those poor dragons. You drove her to leave Damian. Maybe if you hadn't taken her to those damn concentration camps and shown her how bad this war is she would've stayed, but she began to learn how cruel everything had turned out to be." Rose argues.
"How dare you insult the way I am fighting this war. If I hadn't started those camps, more of our people would die. Now that I know where she is though I can redirect my men." Damian responds. That's when Sir Scofton runs in.
"King Damian, sir, we've just received word that Rexum Dracorum has ordered that Sir Trunks kill your daughter once she is found." He reports.
"Why that bastard! Scofton, Rose has told me that my daughter is headed to Dracorum's Castle, I want you to retrieve her and then kill Sir Trunks." Damian orders. Scofton bows and then heads out to rally his men.
"Men we have direct orders to follow Princess Demeter's trail to Rexum Dracorum's Castle. After we get her then we get to hunt down and kill that pretty boy Sir Trunks!" He shouts above thousands of men. They all then give a shout of excitement as most of them mount their horses. The bunch then races toward the castle of their enemy.
"Damian, I think you're over reacting a little bit. You don't have to kill that boy." Rose replies.
"Don't you realize that Sir Trunks is one of the top knights? She wouldn't have a chance against him."
"Yes I know that, but I also know that he's a big flirt, so maybe they're just hanging out together. She may be getting his help on her journey."
"Yeah, like that'd happen. Look if we get rid of him that will protect our people even more. Once the dragons are gone our people will be safer."
"Well I never said I considered the humans my people!" Rose responds then stomping out of the room.
Back in the castle of Rexum Dracorum, Kaylet is plotting her next attack on the humans. She has already talked the king into letting her command one of his head armies. He figured she was a good strategist. Dracorum makes a sly approach to his evil wife. When he is behind her, he wraps his arms around her to give her a strong hug.
"Hierophant, I think I have an excellent idea." Kaylet grins.
"Do tell me my love." He said.
"Well I thought since we're already after his daughter, you should send our men to capture his wife. That way you two will be even."
"That's one of the best ideas I've heard today. I'll have all of my men on their way in the morning. I'll have the ones to the Knight's Halt alerted first."
"Sounds good to me my dear husband." Kaylet replies. Dracorum goes to send word to his knight's to start journeying towards Damian's Castle.
"I do hope this works. If it does, he may finally tell me what has become of my wife and child. I know they are most likely dead, but I still want to be sure of it. I don't even know the gender of my child." Dracorum sighs.
"Don't worry, it should work out perfectly." Kaylet responds.
About six-week later all of the dragon knights were grouped at the Knight's Halt. All the men were enjoying seeing some of their old buddies and were saddened by hearing of the deaths of others. One knight then got out infront of the group. "Sir Zircon!" They exclaim. Everyone quiets then to listen to this wise knight's words.
"Men we have been fighting in this war for over eighteen years now. I hate to say I think that the war is almost over. As you have all heard we have been ordered to capture Queen Rose. You all know, as well as I do that the castle will be surrounded by their best men. We'll be separated into two groups. I'll take one group and my son the other, now if he will come up here..."
"Sir, Sir Trunks is not here. He is helping the young human princess get to Rexum Dracorum's Castle." Says one of the men.
"What! My son knows better than to help a human. Sir George go retrieve my son the rest of you we'll go ahead and continue towards Damian's Castle. The sooner we have Queen Rose, the sooner we can go back to fighting." Zircon says. Sir George mounted his gray mare and rode off to find Sir Trunks. During this time Sir Trunks, Princess Demeter, and Draco have made more progress on their adventure. They are expecting their trip to take quiet a few more months. All three are unaware of the new stages of the war. They're unaware of the danger that will soon approach them.
Chapter 7
The Capture of Queen Rose
"Sir Zircon, we've been traveling for weeks, how much longer till we get to the humans' castle?" One of the men whinned. Zircon turned his head and gave the man a stirn stare.
"Stop you bellering, we are about a day away from the castle."
"Sorry sir!" The man said and got back in line with the other solders. The men had been traveling for about a month and were now exhausted. Back with our traveling trio......
"Demi my foot's stuck in the muddy hole." Draco whins. It has been rainning for three days now and both boys keep complainning about the muddy woods with each step they take.
"Well then get it unstuck." I tell him.
"But I can't!"
"What do you mean you can't?" I ask. I then turn and see that he appears to be sinking in the mud. Trunks then turns to investigate the problem.
"I think he stepped into a sinking hole..."
"Well no kidding!" I snap at him. He jumps a little bit. It's been awhile since that night in the Inn, and since then I have been nicer to him.
"I was only going to say if he doesn't stop moving he'll get stuck even worse." Trunks responds. I start to look down. I really didn't mean to yell at him.
"Okay so how do I get out of here?" Draco asks.
"Well I can through you this rope and use Mythical's weight to pull you out." Trunks offers.
"But I thought she was pregnant." Draco replies.
"She is, but your weight shouldn't hurt her. She's been carrying me all this time."
"That's true, but Trunks you shouldn't push her." Draco says.
"Then what do you propose we do?" Trunks asks. I know precisley what to do.
"Why don't you use Dartanian?" I suggest.
"That's a great idea Demi, but Dartanian only lets you ride him." Draco reminds me.
"Well I think that I can handle him well enough to get you out of that hole."
"Well then lets get moving. I think I have a frog in my pants." Draco laughs. Trunks gives me a rope that I though to Draco. When he grabs hold of it I tie the other end to Dartanian's saddle horn. Dartanian then starts to pull Draco out. After two minutes of pulling he was out. As Trunks helps Draco back to his feets we all have to laugh as a little bull frog hops away from Draco's leg.
"Well maybe you should ride on Dartanian with me Draco, that way you won't fall into another hole." I tell him. He looks a little bit startled.
"But he's sure to throw me and if your on there, he may throw both of us." Draco responds.
"Well if he does we're on soft enough ground, it shouldn't matter." I reply. He thinks about it for a second as I move my feet from the sturups and scoot up. Draco then mounts Dartanian behind me. Dartanian then rears. Draco then jumps off. Without any warning Dartanian loses his footing and rolls to his side, landing with my leg between his side and the ground. We hit the ground really hard.
"DEMI!!" I heard the boys yell. As Dartanian stand back up I pull my other leg off of him. Then Trunks runs to my side as Draco tries to settle Dartanian.
"Demi, talk to me! Are you okay?" He asks frantically.
"I'm fine. He hit my leg pretty hard though." I reply. He picks me up and puts me on Mythical. Dartanian watches on with hurt filling his eyes. I didn't blame him though. Something, besides Draco, had scared him. "Trunks, I'd rather be on Dartanian."
"But he hurt you." Trunks argues.
"He didn't mean to. Please just put me on Dartanian." I plead. He looks into my eyes as though he sees something there he hadn't seen before. He nods and takes me over to Dartanian. My horse then rubs his nostrils against my hurt leg. As I look back to Trunks to thank him, I see tears fall down his cheek. I rub them off, "What's wrong Trunks?"
"I could've lost you right there." He cries. I lower myself to hug him. That made me realize what we did the other night was really out of love, and not out of fun. "I love you." He says into my long hair. I look at Draco, who is shocked beyond shocked.
"I love you, too, Trunks."
"What's with you two?" Draco asks.
"Can't you see? We're in love." I smile.
"Well you two do make a cute couple." Draco responds.
"Well lets get you to the nearest medical clinic. There should be one about three days that away." Trunks then says.
"Okay then, lets get started." I agree. We then start off towards the clinic.

Damian's Castle
"Okay men, we've finally made it!" Zircon alerts his men. All the men start to cheer. "Now lets go get our selves a queen."
The men then charge into the castle. They took down all of the guards that protected the royal family within seconds. Zircon led his men straight to the throne room and rushed in. Both Damian and Rose were in the room.
"Sir Zircon?" Rose questions.
"How'd you know?" He snaps.
"I've heard of you. You have quiet the reputation with our knights." Rose replies.
"Hmph, I should've known. Men grab her." He orders. Five men then take hold of the queen.
"Let her go!" Damian yells.
"Not a chance sire. You see we have strict orders from Dracorum to deliver her straight to the castle." Zircon laughs.
"I won't let you!" Damian argues.
"No Damian, just let me go." Rose replies.
"Are you sure?" Damian asks.
"I'm sure, and don't worry, I'll be just fine." Rose responds. Damian looks at her and nods his head. The men then take Rose from the room and begin their journet to Dracorum's Castle, through the shortcut behind Damian's Castle. This passage would deliver them to Dracorum's Castle in about four to five months.
Chapter 8
What Next?
Two days has passed us by. My leg seems to be getting in worse pain with each step Dartanian takes. I've also discovered a possible broken rib during the ride and boy is it sore. Draco and Trunks both take turns riding Mythical so we can cover more ground in more time. I finally have to whoa Dartanian once we get into an open prairie. The boys notice the stop and turn their heads sharply.
"Demeter are you okay?" Draco asks as Trunks sprints to my side.
"Yeah my side just hurts." I reply. "I'll be okay though." I tell them as I give Dartanian a small kick to get him moving again. I then stop him again. The pain is just too much.
"Demi, maybe I should go get the doctor and bring him to you." Trunks suggests.
"I'll be fine." I argue. Dartanian then nudges Trunks and then motions to his back. Could my horse actually be asking Trunks to get on his back? Before I can really think about it Trunks is on Dartanian's back behind me. He wraps his arms around me and we continue. I notice with the support of Trunks's arms I didn't hurt anymore. Draco was still a little dumbfounded by our relationship, but he said he could live with it. The next day we arrived at the medical clinic early. Draco then halts Mythical and turns back towards us.
"Umm Trunks would they notice she was a human while examining her?"
"I never thought of that. I'm pretty sure they will, considering her bone structure will appear a little different than ours and if they had to do a blood test, we'd be doomed." Trunks gulps. "Then again this is the same doctor that delivered me. He's kept a bucket of secrets for me so maybe he'd keep this one too." They get off the horses and Trunks helps me down. We carefully walk inside the clinic.
"Dr. Callo!!" Trunks calls through the room. A man about the age of probably 60 walks out of his office.
"Well look who it is! I say young chap it's been what ten years since you were last in here." He says.
"Yep that'd be about right. Look I was wondering if you could keep a very important secret for me?"
"Sure what is it Trunks?" He asks.
"Well first may I introduce you to, I guess I can say, my girlfriend Demeter." Trunks says. The man shakes my hand.
"She sure is a beautiful girl. This will break my daughter's heart you know." He laughs.
"Well if she's around I'll break it to her carefully." Trunks responds.
"Yeah Carolina!" He called. "Now is she your secret?"
"Well yes, you see she's the human princess and I'm suppose to kill her."
"I see, well it looks like she's done a number to her leg." The doctor noted.
"Yeah she had a fall on her horse. Do you think you can help her?" Trunks asks. The doctor laughs.
"Of course I can. I'll also do a quick blood test to make sure she's still healthy."
"Thank you sir." I reply. He then leads me to his examining room.
"So you're a human?" He questions me.
"Yes, sir, I am." I confirm.
"Well you just seem to polite to be a human. So are you afraid of needles?" He asks. I shake my head no as he approaches me to start some blood work. "Good, now this may sting a bit." He warns me as he starts to draw my blood. While my blood is being drawn, he starts to examine my leg.
"So will I be able to walk again?" I joke. The man starts to laugh.
"Actually you'll be able to run and jump all you want to in about three days. You just jammed it." He chuckles. As soon as he is through drawing my blood he takes it over and puts it in a computer. "So are there any other complications?" The doctor asks.
"Well I have a sore rib, but I think it's just bruised." I respond. He nods and continues to work. Then his jaw drops.
"So did you know that you were pregnant?"
"I'm what?" I ask nearly falling off the examining table.
"Yep you're about three months." He explains. That would explain my mood swings lately. I then let out a large sigh. Trunks should be thrilled about this.
"So do you think Trunks will be happy?"
"If I know the boy he will probably be overflowing with happiness. By the way, I'm going to get a quick picture of it so I can study it while you're telling him. Humans can die from giving birth to a half dragon." He tells me. I nod and watch as he gets my child's first picture. I then hop down from the table and head towards the entrance. I then stop in my tracks. Trunks, the father of my child, is cuddling with some other girl.
"Trunks..." I start. He looks at me and lets go of the girl.
"Uh Demi, I'd like for you to meet my ex-girlfriend Carolina." He says. I give her an evil glare and then stomp out of the room. If he really wants to know what I have to say then he'll apologize for holding that slut. As I walk outside, I'm stopped by a tall dark haired man with a green orb, like Trunks's.
"I'm looking for Sir Trunks, have you seen him?"
"Uh yeah why do you ask?"
"Wait you're that human princess!" He says before grabbing me. "I guess I can finish his job for him."
"TRUNKS!!" I yell at the top of my lungs. He runs out with his sword in hand.
"George! Drop her right now."
"Sir Trunks, I thought you'd be thrilled with this, considering Rexum Dracorum would kill you if he found out you were helping her. Besides your father wanted me to get you so we can complete our mission."
"What mission?" Trunks asks.
"Taking her mother." George replies pointing to me. They are capturing my mother. At that I then used all my strength and flipped him over my shoulder. He fell flat to the ground and lost consciousness. I whistled for Dartanian and climbed on his back.
"Wait Demi, where are you going?" Trunks asks me.
"To save my mother. Besides, you really don't want me around anymore so I'll be out of your hair. I'm sure you'd love to impregnate this girl too!" I nag him. Then I urge Dartanian into a gallop towards my home.
The doctor then walks out and looks to the confused, broken hearted Trunks.
"So did she tell you?" He asks.
"Tell me what?"
"That she's pregnant."
