Vampire

By Sarah Nelson

Toshiya walked down the street, going to a bar. It was dark, and he didn't want to be stuck in the house all Saturday night. He didn't exactly get a date, so he just figured he'd go get a drink, like every other lonely time.
Toshiya had short brown hair, and icy blue eyes. He had an earring in his left ear, and he always wore a bandana. It symbolized his gang (The gang was a bad influence on Toshiya, but he could care less). Toshiya wore a leather jacket, with a black t-shirt under it. His pants, like the rest of his attire, were leather too. His shoes were just typical motorcycle boots.
He was only sixteen, and still attending high school. He rarely skipped class, for getting into trouble with his `kasaan would be a problem for him. He hated to see her face when he disappointed her. It was a look he never wanted to see. She expected greatly of him, and he loved her more then anyone in the world.
Toshiya opened the door of the bar to see a bunch of drunks having a chugging contest. `Idiots.' Toshiya rolled his eyes, and made his way up to the counter.
“I'll just have sake.” He told the bartender. The bartender raised a brow.
“How old are you, son?” he asked cleaning a dirty glass. Toshiya smiled.
“I'm twenty-one, why? Don't I look it?” he said, fiddling with a ring on his finger.
“No. Can I see your license?” the bartender asked, suspiciously. Toshiya rolled his eyes. He took out his ID. It was fake of course. It was made by one of his gang members.
The bar tender starred at it for a minute. Then went to his computer in the back room.
`Shit.' Toshiya winced. The bar tender came out with the ID in his hand.
“It's approved. Now, you wanted sake, right? Is that what you said?” the bartender asked giving Toshiya his “license” back.
Toshiya nodded. The bar tender slid the alcohol down the table to him. Toshiya opened it, and drank some. He was so used to it, he could handle more then a grown man could when it came to alcohol.
After ten more bottles of sake, Toshiya was thoroughly drunk. The bartender didn't let him have any more, so Toshiya paid, and staggered out the door.
When he got outside it must have rained, because everything was wet. He looked around. He didn't remember how to get home. He was so drunk; he couldn't stand in one place.
A dark shadow watched from on top of a building. When he smiled, a fang poked out from soft, pale lips.
`This one looks like an easy kill. Perfect…' the shadow thought. He swooped down, and landed right in front of the drunk human. His wings folded neatly behind his back. It was about twelve o'clock, so no cars were on the streets.
Toshiya tried to focus his eyes on the strange man, but he was too dizzy.
“Who're yooou?” Toshiya asked, falling on the sidewalk. The shadow chuckled.
“Have you ever watched those vampire horror movies?” he asked, moving closer to Toshiya.
Toshiya smiled. “Yeah. Have you seen the one where Dracula bites that girrrrl, and she screams all hiiiigh…and… That one was funnnny…” Toshiya said, trying to stand up.
The figure rolled his eyes. “Yeah sure I've seen that one. Whatever. Well, it's like one of those vampire movies. Where the drunken idiot gets it first.” The man said grabbing a hold of Toshiya's wrist.
Toshiya laughed. “Who's the drunken idiot? Meeeeeeee?” he asked, nose to nose with the shadow.
“Yes. But, I will tell you my name first before I kill you. That way when you die, you won't think it was `Dracula'...” Toshiya nodded, and grinned like an idiot. “Boku wa…Shin'ya,”
“Okay. I'm Tooooshiyaaaaa.” Toshiya fell into Shin'ya's arms. Shin'ya caught the poor drunken human with ease. He had passed out.
Shin'ya rolled his eyes. `How pathetic. This human gives up to easily. But…' Shin'ya studied Toshiya's features. `He looks too young anyway. Forget it…' He decided.
Shin'ya looked around for any other humans. No one. Shin'ya looked back at Toshiya again.
“I can't just leave him here. He's too young…and stupid,” Shin'ya said still holding the unconscious human. Shin'ya actually felt sorry for Toshiya.
Shin'ya looked around one last time. Still no humans. “I'll just take him home with me until he wakes up. Then he's vampire food.” Shin'ya took off from the ground, clutching Toshiya tightly.
Shin'ya had raven black hair, with piercing violet eyes. He wore a black cape that covered his body almost all the way. Underneath it were black leather pants, and a long sleeve shirt. His wings were like that of a bat's. His skin was like a white rose. Very pale, and creamy…
Shin'ya landed gracefully on the ground in no time. They were in an old warehouse. It was dark, and damp. Just how Shin'ya liked it.
He walked over to a pile of blankets, and gently laid Toshiya down. He always preferred the rafters anyway.
He made sure that the human was tucked in before he flew up to his domain. He loved his blood to be warm, and alive. Not cold, and dead.
He took one last look at the human before wrapping his wings around his body and fell asleep.

Toshiya opened his eyes slowly, feeling the pain of last night zip through his head. He looked around. Where was he? And what was he doing here? Didn't he go home last night? Obviously not.
He rose to his feet, and instantly regretted it as the pain increased. “Damnit! I hate hangovers.” He noted angrily, grabbing at his head. Toshiya slowly walked towards the door, but was stopped by someone. He looked to see who it was.
It was some guy Toshiya had never seen before. Toshiya frowned. “Who the hell are you?” he asked.
The man smiled. He looked like he was around Toshiya's age. He released Toshiya and walked towards the back of the warehouse where it was pitch black.
“Your worst nightmare.” He answered finally, the dark hiding the man away from Toshiya.
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” Toshiya asked angrily, still holding his head.
The man didn't answer. Toshiya looked confused, then shrugged. “Well, I guess I'm outta here.” He started to walk out the door, when the man finally spoke.
“No. Wait a minute. I have to ask you something important.” He said, still in the dark.
Toshiya stopped. He turned to the shadow, and squinted in attempt to see him.
“What?” he asked, knowing he was going to regret this later. The man came out of the dark finally, and looked down at Toshiya with a wicked glint in his eyes.
“How old are you?” he asked, nearly face to face with Toshiya. Toshiya raised his eyebrows.
“What? My age? Why do you wanna know that?” he asked, praying that he wasn't a cop.
The man smiled, showing a…fang? “Because, aren't you a little young to be drinking like you did last night?” he asked still smiling.
Toshiya winced. “Well…I'm…eighteen?” he said, hoping that the man would believe him.
The man laughed. “I don't think so.” He took something out. It was Toshiya's wallet. “Your school ID is in here. It says here you're only sixteen. Don't lie. I'm not as stupid as you probably think I am.” He said, still laughing. Toshiya snatched the wallet back, and shoved it into his back pocket.
“Uhhh…well…you're not gonna tell my parents are you?” Toshiya asked.
The man frowned. “Your parents?” he said confused.
“Duh. Aren't you a cop?” Toshiya said.
“No. I hate cops. Their blood isn't what I like.” The man said shaking his head.
“Hn. Blood? That's cool. My name is Toshiya.” He said, holding out his hand for the man to shake.
Shin'ya looked down at his hand, then back up at Toshiya. “I know.” Toshiya dropped his hand to his side. “I'm the, uh, Vampire, remember?” He said simply. Toshiya raised his eyebrow.
“What? A…what did you say? A vampire?” Toshiya repeated. Shin'ya nodded.
Toshiya laughed. “A vampire? Well, then I'm the tooth fairy.” He said rolling his eyes.
Shin'ya looked confused. “What's that? What's a …tooth…fairy?” the so-called `vampire' asked.
“Never mind. If you really are a vampire, then prove it.” Toshiya folded his arms across his chest.
Shin'ya frowned. “What is there to prove? I'm a vampire, there's nothing more to say. Unless you want to see my teeth and wings. Is that what you need to see?” he asked, turning around, showing Toshiya his back.
Toshiya's eyes widened, he looked dumbfounded. His mouth dropped once he saw those big, powerful bat wings. He fell back against the door. “Shit. Those are fake right?” he asked, rubbing his head.
Shin'ya shook his head. “No. I am a real vampire. I don't really know what else to tell you, sorry. But…I will tell you this. I was going to eat you, but I might not. Now that I know your age and all. In fact, I kinda like you.” Shin'ya said, helping Toshiya to his feet.
`This guy must think I'm crazy! A vampire? I definitely had too much to drink! Either that or I'm seeing things!' Toshiya thought.
“Look, I…uhh…really have to go! My mom is probably worried about me!” Toshiya ran out the door before Shin'ya could say anything more.
Shin'ya watched him leave. “Damn.” He whispered.

Toshiya opened the door slowly, hoping his mother was still asleep. He crept in.
Everybody was still asleep…so Toshiya thought…
Toshiya walked up the steps to his room, but was stopped by a sharp and harsh tone of voice.
“Toshiya! Where have you been?! I waited all night for you! And you never came home!” he winced.
Toshiya turned to his mother. “Sorry `kasaan…I…uhh…spent the night at my friend's house! I tried to call you but the lines went dead at his house.” He lied.
His mother smiled. “Of course. You did say you were going out. Well, as long as I know you're safe.” His mother kissed him on his cheek.
Toshiya kissed his mother back, and hurried up the stairs. His brother blocked him from going into his room.
“I know you went to the bar last night. I should tell `kasaan.” His brother said, starring hard at his big brother. An evil smirk in which only little brothers had, played across his lips.
Toshiya smiled. “And what proof do you have? I was going to take a shower to get the smell of alcohol off, so you have no proof.” Toshiya pushed through his brother, and stuck his tongue out at him before closing the door.
“Toshiya! Open the door!” his brother shouted. Toshiya rolled his eyes.
He walked to his bathroom and pulled off his jacket, then his shirt. He looked around his room for a clean shirt, but his room was way to messy to find anything.
He had clothes littering the floor and dresser. Toshiya sighed, then grabbed all the clothes, and put them in the laundry. His room was semi clean now. But he still had school papers all over.
“You left before I could ask you something.” A cold voice said, coming from the corner. Toshiya jumped, and took a knife from his boot. Shin'ya smiled. `Nice reflexes…'
“Who's there?!” he said, moving towards the dark corner. It was still dark because it was five o'clock in the morning.
“It's me, Shin'ya…” the shadow whispered. Toshiya sighed.
“Oh. What do you want? How did you get in here?” he asked still holding the knife tightly in his hand.
Shin'ya moved forward, coming in to the little light that was in the room.
“I came through the window. I can fly you know. I followed you. I have to ask you something.” Shin'ya said shrugging.
Toshiya frowned. “What? What do you want to ask me?”
Shin'ya smiled. “Well, it's actually more like a deal. You may want to sit. This will take a while.” Shin'ya said, motioning for Toshiya to sit on the bed.
Toshiya obeyed Shin'ya's motion, and Shin'ya sat next to him.
“If you tell anyone, I will kill you.” The vampire whispered simply.
Toshiya raised an eyebrow. “What? You'll kill me if I tell? Tell what? That you're a vampire? Dude, no one would believe me anyway. Why bother?” Toshiya said.
“Well then you have nothing to worry about. But, I'm afraid that since you know about my secret identity, I'll have to make sure that you don't blab to anyone. You see, I do walk among the mortals. I just have a disguise. And if you tell anyone…” Shin'ya trailed off.
Toshiya fiddled with his ring again, he always did that when he was nervous.
“Well…I won't tell anyone if you don't want me to. But…whatever man. Look, I…uhhh…I really have to do some things…so…if you don't mind…” Toshiya said, standing up.
Shin'ya smiled. “Good. But that doesn't mean I'm going to let you off the hook…I still have to watch you for a couple of weeks. Just to be on the safe side. So…if you notice a dark shadow following you…you know who it is…” he said, heading for the window.
“What? You're going to follow me? Please tell me you're not going to follow me in human form! I've read about vampires, and they say that they have a human form.” Toshiya begged.
“In human form? It is true. That's a good idea. I'll follow you around in human form. But…one wrong move, I'll kill you without hesitation! You understand?” he asked, sitting on the windowsill.
Toshiya scratched his head. “Shit. Yeah…I guess that's okay…for how long? `Cause you can't follow me to my…uhh…where my gang hangs out. They don't take new comers.” He said.
Shin'ya thought for a moment. “Well, you'll figure it out then, won't you? It's not like you have a choice. I'll kill you other wise.” Shin'ya said leaving.
Toshiya closed his eyes. `Either way I'm dead. I can't bring that…vampire, to the gang. They'll kill me.' Toshiya shrugged. `Well, I'm a dead man anyway…'
Toshiya shook his head. `Shit…' he thought. `What have I gotten' myself into?'

Shin'ya hated the sun. It was too bright. The sun was peeking lightly over the hill; it's rays destroying all darkness created by night.
“Damnit! I hate you!” Shin'ya yelled to the sun, landing on the ground so no one would see him. He looked around. Barely anyone was out yet, a few cars, but no one else. He shook his head, and wondered why the hell he was yelling at the sun.
Shin'ya sighed. This was going to be a long walk back…
His mind drifted to that dreadful human. Well, he would have been dreadful if it weren't for those soft, innocent, icy cold, blue eyes. Or the way he smiled, his teeth all lined up perfectly…Shinya shook his head fiercely. `Why am I so attracted to this man? Why?' Shin'ya frowned. “He's just…different from the others though…'
`I must be crazy. Being around him only made it worse…' he thought, making his way into a forest. The forest wasn't big. Just a lot of trees…
It was the quickest way to his domain. He really hated living in the human world. He missed the demon world a lot. There were no other demons in Japan that he knew of. They had all perished…
`Damn humans! It's their entire fault!' he thought angrily. It really wasn't the human's fault at all, Shin'ya was just angry. Not to mention he needed something to blame it on.
He shook his head, and walked until he saw the warehouse. He sighed.
This was going to be hell for the both of them.

It was the next day and Toshiya's alarm clock rang annoyingly. He slammed his fist against the button to shut it up.
He rubbed his eyes, and slowly got up. He was in his boxers, and it wasn't a very warm day either. He shivered slightly, and went to close the window he had left open the previous night. “Damn. I hate mornings.” He grumbled.
“Me too.” Toshiya jumped, and turned to find the vampire sitting on his desk. He was wearing different clothes. He was wearing…normal clothes? He was wearing tight black pants, and a blue shirt. And where were his wings?
“What are you doing here? Why are you here?” Toshiya asked, struggling to get some clothes on.
“Well, I have to follow you around for a while, so I might as well follow you to school. I usually go to a different school, but for now, I'll go to yours.” He said, half smiling.
Toshiya buried his face in his hands. “You're coming with me to school? You can't just automatically change schools whenever you want! And…you go to school?” he asked, placing the bandana over his forehead. He checked in the mirror to make sure he put it on right. Perfect.
Shin'ya nodded. “Yeah, you only live once, right? And well, I live forever. So…why not? And I already have taken care of the whole `school' situation.” Shin'ya shrugged.
Toshiya frowned. “You live forever? But…what grade are you in? I mean…umm…huh?” Toshiya asked. Shin'ya stood up.
“Ask questions later, we have to get to school. Okay? Let's get goin'. Besides, we'll have lots of time to talk. I mean, I do have to follow you around for a while…” Shin'ya gave a quick wink, and walked out of Toshiya's room. Toshiya frowned and sat there for a minute. Shin'ya poked his head back in the room.
“You comin'?” he asked. Toshiya rolled his eyes, and grabbed his leather jacket from the chair to his desk.
“H-how did you get past my mom? Did you use the door?” he asked.
Shin'ya nodded. “Yeah, why? Your mom is very nice. Even I, being a vampire, think that. That's kinda weird. I usually hate humans…” Shin'ya shrugged.
Toshiya shook his head. “You hate humans? Why?” Toshiya asked curiously as they made their way out the door. The sun was shining brightly, and it was a beautiful day. Shin'ya hated it. He winced once the sunlight touched his skin.
“Well, it's kinda complicated. But why the hell would I tell you? It's none of your business anyway.” He said, obviously ending their conversation.
They walked in silence for the rest of the way. Toshiya would have asked more questions, but he didn't want to get Shin'ya mad. Considering the consequences…
They finally arrived at the school. It was swarming with students. Shin'ya sighed.
“I hate crowded schools. It makes me uncomfortable for many reasons…” he whispered.
Toshiya looked at Shin'ya. “Why? What, to many humans?” Toshiya mocked.
Shin'ya growled deep in his throat. “Yes, that's exactly why. I can't stand them. They're useless. Even you are, so shut the hell up. I won't need to watch you twenty-four seven! Go…do something…” Shin'ya walked away, annoyed. Toshiya smirked.
`Wow…he doesn't even seem like a real vampire. Almost like a normal person…hmmm…' The bell rang, and Toshiya saw Shin'ya making his way slowly up to the building. He didn't look too happy at all…
“Ah well. He'll get over it. It is always hard to start a new school. Hmm…I wonder if it's the same for a vampire…?” Toshiya shrugged, and soon followed the other students into the school.

It turned out; Shin'ya was in the same grade as Toshiya. And, to make matters worse (for Toshiya that is…) Shin'ya was in the same classes as he.
Of course all the girls went nuts for him. Toshiya was even jealous of the vampire. `It's because he looks good…'
Shin'ya, as much as he hated it, got loads of attention. When students asked him questions, he would just smile, and tell them as best he could. A little white lie never hurt anyone, so he did.

`Wow, first day of school, and I can already tell this is going to suck…'

It had been three weeks already, and Shin'ya had still insisted on following Toshiya around. Luckily for Toshiya, he hadn't gone to meet his gang yet. And, Toshiya even sort of befriended the vampire…sort of…
Well, they did hang out a lot, so what did you expect?
The gang was all in LA for a fight against an archrival, but Toshiya didn't go because his mother said no. It wasn't even tempting to sneak away, so obviously it wasn't worth it anyway…
Toshiya had his eyes fixed on the vampire. He had been thinking and reflecting of how the vampire acted around him. He had come to a conclusion that Shin'ya was definitely not like all those horror movies. In fact, much the opposite.
`He acts weird…for a vampire that is…' he thought, playing with his ring. `Almost like he isn't even a vampire. I mean, he can pull off the look of one…but not the personality. He even is like a real teenager. He even hangs out with me even if he doesn't need to. I would have expected him to kill me by now, but…he hasn't. Something is going on here, and I'm going to find out…'
“Toshiya!” the teacher shouted. Toshiya snapped his head towards the angry teacher, bringing him back to reality. The teacher walked over to him, and stood in front of his desk. All eyes, save Shin'ya, were on Toshiya.
“Uhhh…yes? What?” he asked annoyed. The teacher glared at Toshiya.
“What is it that is so interesting, that keeps you from paying attention?” the teacher snapped. Toshiya looked at Shin'ya, who was absorbed in his studies.
“Huh? What is it?” the teacher repeated. Toshiya returned his gaze to the teacher.
“Nothing. I was just thinking…about this math problem…” Toshiya said flipping through the math book he had.
The teacher shook his head. “This isn't math. This is science. You brought the wrong text book.” The teacher said shaking his head, and walking back up to the front of the room. Many of the students laughed. Toshiya shrugged.
“They're both boring, and you teach them, so what else is new?” he asked, putting his hands behind his head.
“Toshiya, we don't need your attitude this morning now do we?” the teacher said, returning to his lessons. Toshiya rolled his eyes, but obeyed.
Toshiya glanced at Shin'ya again. The vampire looked back at him, shaking his head. A small smirk played dangerously on his lips.
`Tch. He's a vampire, and he actually listens to this shit. Hmm…I still don't get it…' Toshiya thought, standing up.
“Toshiya, where do you think you're going?” the teacher asked. Toshiya winked at Shin'ya when he walked by.
“I'm goin' for a ride. I'll be back tomorrow. See ya around.” Toshiya walked out the door, expecting Shin'ya to follow.
Shin'ya hesitated, and soon stood up. “Shin'ya, where are you going?” the teacher asked, raising an eyebrow.
Shin'ya shrugged. “I'm going with him.” And with that, he left.
Shin'ya walked out of the building, eyes scanning for Toshiya. Where was he? Suddenly, he heard a noise…like a…motorcycle?
Toshiya whizzed out from behind the school on a nice looking motorcycle. He stopped in front of Shin'ya. Toshiya handed him a helmet.
“Here, hop on.” Toshiya said smiling. Shin'ya shook his head.
“I don't need a helmet, I'm a vampire.” Shin'ya also smiled, showing a fang.
`Damn he's handsome!' he thought. Toshiya frowned. `Did I just think that? No…no way…'

Toshiya and Shin'ya went all around town, causing as much trouble as the law would permit. They eventually got bored and stopped at a local restaurant.
“Are you hungry? I'm starving!” Toshiya said opening the door. Shin'ya shrugged.
“Yes, but they don't have anything I would want.” He said. Toshiya smiled.
“Oh yeah? You could probably order it raw.” He laughed, and nudged Shin'ya in the rib. Shin'ya simply rolled his eyes at the pathetic joke.
They waited for their turn for a table before speaking again.
“Uhh…I have a question. Now don't take this the wrong way or anything…but…are you a real vampire? I mean…I know you have the wings and all, but…” Toshiya trailed off, and quickly pulled the menu up, so that Shin'ya couldn't see his face. He wasn't exactly sure how to ask that question, and he tried the best he could.
Shin'ya smiled. He took the menu from Toshiya and looked him in the eyes.
“Why are you so afraid? I thought we were friends?” he said raising an eyebrow.
Toshiya gulped. “Well…we are? Oh yeah of course! I just thought that since you are still a vampire that…you…”
“Would still have a bad temper? That I would not consider a human to be my friend? Just consider yourself lucky…” he said, sipping the water the waitress put down for them.
“Really? That's cool. So? Are you?” he asked, becoming impatient, and hoping Shin'ya wouldn't get mad. He wasn't sure if he would or not. Shin'ya said he wouldn't, but you never know with a vampire…
“No actually. I'm only half. Other wise…things would happen…things I could never change…” he whispered.
Toshiya looked into those beautiful violet eyes, and thought he would be lost forever in their depths. “What are you then? Half vampire, half human? Or something else…?”
Shin'ya nodded. “Half human. But…every other month…just once…my vampire side takes over…” Shin'ya stared at the menu he took from Toshiya.
“Wow, I n-never knew. I hope you don't mind me asking, but…what happens every other month? What do you mean? Your vampire side takes over?” Toshiya asked, curiously.
Shin'ya looked up from the menu. “I crave blood. And then I kill too much…” Shin'ya shrugged. Toshiya knitted his eyebrows together.
“What are you talking about? I thought you only killed cows and stuff? Who cares about a damn cow?”
“No. I kill humans. I can't help it. Sometimes I don't even drink their blood. I just…kill.” Shin'ya paused and looked to find a reaction from Toshiya. With none, he continued. “I guess I should have told you sooner. But, it's not that time yet. So you have nothing to worry about.” Shin'ya smiled, and returned to the menu.
The waitress walked over to the two. “What can I get you Hon?” she asked Shin'ya, pulling out her pen.
Shin'ya smiled back. “I'll have the classic style hamburger. Extra rare, please.” He answered. The waitress quickly wrote that down.
She turned to Toshiya. “And you?” she asked.
“Uh…I'll have a chili dog.” He said. She wrote it down and walked away.
Shin'ya smiled. “I guess I'll decide if it's rare enough…”

After they finished, they walked out of the restaurant, ready to head home.
Toshiya scratched his head. “Umm…Shin'ya…if you want, you can…come to my house…” he said, staring at the ground. Shin'ya nodded.
“I guess I could for a little while,” he said.

“Hi `kasaan! I'm home! I have a friend over! We'll be in my room!” he said, running up the stairs, Shin'ya close behind.
Toshiya opened the door, and quickly started cleaning his room. Shin'ya stopped him.
“It's okay. I could care less, I mean, I live in a warehouse. Not to mention your room is always messy.” He laughed, sitting down on Toshiya's bed. Toshiya took out a book from his desk.
“We should probably start our homework. Or at least study. I hope my mom doesn't find out about today. She'll kill me!” he said, sitting next to Shin'ya.
Shin'ya shook his head. “I don't get it. You're in a gang, you drink, you smoke…but you still try and impress your `kasaan? Why Toshiya? You shouldn't do that to yourself.” He said, looking deep into Toshiya's icy blue depths.
Toshiya shrugged. “Well, I guess it's `cause…I don't know. Why does it matter, Shin'ya?” Toshiya took off his bandana, and threw it to the floor. His jacket soon followed, showing off his finely toned muscles underneath the white muscle shirt he wore.
“Why wouldn't I care Toshiya? I do care about you.” He said, reaching out and touching Toshiya's cheek. Toshiya shivered from the touch. “A lot, actually…”
“Y-you do?” he asked, leaning into the touch. Shin'ya smiled.
“Baka, of course. You're the only friend I've ever had. It's something I've always wished…would come true. I…love you Toshiya.” He said, softly caressing Toshiya's lips with his thumb.
“I love you, too.”
Their lips met instantly. Toshiya had never kissed a man before, but Shin'ya was different. It felt…right to him. The soft, warm, feeling that rested in the pit of his stomach. Even the feel of those oh-so-soft lips against his, it was enough to make him go mad.
Shin'ya nipped tenderly at Toshiya's bottom lip, implying he wanted to deepen the kiss. Toshiya allowed it, and their tongues danced in a fiery, lustful motion. It had seemed like eternity until they broke the kiss, gasping for breath. A knock at the door was suddenly heard, and they exchanged glances before Toshiya answered.
“Uhh…come in.” Toshiya said quickly. To quickly…
His `kasaan entered. “Oh, hello Shin'ya. Toshiya, have you seen your brother?” she asked.
“N-no. Why, I-is he missing?” he stuttered. His mother raised one eyebrow, suspiciously.
“Hai. I can't find him. Is he in here?” Toshiya's eyes went wide. He forgot his brother sometimes hid in his room to spy.
“I'm right here `kasaan!” he said, popping out of the closet. Toshiya freaked, and nearly fell off the bed. Did his brother see that?
“What the hell are you doing in my room?!” demanded Toshiya.
“Toshiya! Don't you ever say that word again!” his mother shouted.
Ignoring his mother completely, Toshiya stood up angrily. “Did you see anything, you little devil?!” he yelled, grabbing a hold of his brother's collar.
His brother laughed and nodded his head yes. “Yeah. I saw you kissing Shin'ya!”
Toshiya's face went beet red, and his mother clapped her hands over her mouth. “W-what? What are you talking about?” he asked, trying to sound like he didn't know what his brother saying.
“I saw you! You were kissing Shin'ya! And Shin'ya kissed you back! I saw it! I'm not lying mom! I saw them!” he shouted, running over to his mother to avoid Toshiya and his violence.
“Toshiya, is he telling the truth?” she asked, eyes fixed on Toshiya. Toshiya couldn't even answer her. He blushed more fiercely, and tried to answer.
“Well…Uhhh…I…he…we…R 21; Toshiya couldn't say it. He couldn't even believe it!
“I did it. I was the one who kissed him first.” Shin'ya piped up for Toshiya.
Toshiya's mother smiled lightly, still unsure. “Okay, well…alright. Um, Shin'ya you might want to call your mother to tell her where you are.” She said, a hint of nervousness in her voice. She excused herself, and rushed out the room, dragging Toshiya's brother with her.
Toshiya sighed. “Whew! That was close! Good thing my mom could care less! But…my dad would definitely not approve…” Toshiya returned to his seat next to Shin'ya.
“Dad? You have a dad? Well, obviously, but you know what I mean,” he asked curiously. Toshiya nodded.
“Yeah. He's usually never home though. So…I have nothing to worry about…” he said.
Shin'ya smiled. “Good. I'm glad. Now I don't have to worry about getting caught in the act with you,” he whispered, winking.
Toshiya raised an eyebrow. “Are you saying something?” he accused. Shin'ya laughed.
“Duh. Like I said, I love you. You even agreed. It happened just two minutes ago. Don't you remember?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Sorry, this is all happening way to fast. Shin'ya…I'm not gay! I-I don't even know what I was doing just now! I don't like guys! I'm sorry!” Toshiya stood up. Shin'ya frowned. “But…why? What's wrong with it? You weren't complaining before…”
Toshiya shook his head. “Everything is wrong with it! Just the whole thing! It's not right!” he paused. “I think you should go. I have to think about this. I'll tell you in the morning!” he said, opening the door for Shin'ya.
Shin'ya stood up, anger in his eyes. “No need. I don't need to follow you around any more. I trust you. After tonight, I probably won't ever see you again. See you around, Toshiya.” He said, swiftly jumping out the window.
Toshiya watched with regret, as the vampire flew off into the pitch-black night.

The next day, Toshiya walked to school…alone. His mother asked about Shin'ya that morning, because usually the vampire picked Toshiya up from his house. Toshiya just told her that he was sick. But what was he going to tell her tomorrow?
Toshiya still couldn't believe that his first kiss was from a guy. He just kept playing that scene over and over in his head from last night. Was it wrong to love another man? Shin'ya was his best friend, even counting his gang members.
Toshiya smiled just thinking of the vampire. “Damn. I can't believe I'm saying this…but I really do love him.” He frowned. “How am I going to tell him? I told him I didn't love him. Will he forgive me?” he asked himself out loud.
“What the hell are you talking about? You love another man?” someone in an alley asked him. Toshiya's face turned red as soon as he knew who it was. He turned to a tall, muscular guy; that went by the name of Kenji.
“No. I was just…uhh…talking about this girl at school.” He said, walking over to his friend. He noticed that Kenji was not alone. Big surprise. He had the gang follow him like puppies!
“When did you all get back?” he asked them.
“We got back yesterday. We tried to call you, but your mom said that you had company over. Was it that girl?” the leader asked.
“Well, uh…no. It was another friend. From school. We were working on a project for a class. That's all, no big deal.” He said, trying to keep his cool.
Kenji raised a brow, and looked at the others. “Really? Well, as long as it was just for a project. You're not friends with him are you? `Cause you only need the gang! No one else, you got that?” Kenji said, grabbing Toshiya in a headlock. Toshiya laughed and struggled out.
“Yeah. It was just a school project…” Toshiya felt really bad about saying that. Shin'ya was his friend, but then again…he had been with the gang for so long already…
What was he going to do?!

Toshiya trudged sulkily to the gang's hide out. The others were way ahead of him. He was going to get up the courage to ask Kenji about his feelings toward Shin'ya. Kenji was the leader, and his best friend, at least out of the gang that is. Kenji was only nineteen, but still acted immature sometimes. He would definitely be the most understanding…right?
Kenji noticed right away, from when he got back, to no, that Toshiya was acting weird. He decided he would find out why. “Hey Toshiya! What the hell is your problem, man? Why aren't you talking? I thought you would be happy to see us.” He said, moving away from the other gang members. Toshiya looked up, and shrugged.
“Uhh…Kenji? Can I ask you somethin'? It's about that one guy…the one I had a project with…” he whispered. Kenji stopped walking.
“What? What about him?” he asked, looking into Toshiya's eyes. Kenji ushered the other guys to move along, and they obeyed.
“Well…uhh…I…kissed him. I…I'm not sure what to do…” he said, avoiding Kenji's gaze.
Kenji's face suddenly was stern. “Well kid…uhh…it's probably nothing. You're just going through puberty right now. It's no big deal.” He said. He started walking again, Toshiya close behind him.
“Puberty? Is that all? Well, I don't know, dude. It felt right. I think I…actually…love him.” He whispered. Kenji whipped around.
“What?! No! You cannot love another man! That's…sick! Tomorrow you're going to point this guy out to me! And you better not lie to me! You understand?! I swear Toshiya, sometimes I wonder if I regret having you in this gang!” Kenji shook his head, and caught up to the rest of the gang. “No fucking gaywads…”
Toshiya sighed as he watched the gang move out of view. “Damn. What am I going to do? I still love Shin'ya. Hn, not to mention I don't even know if Shin'ya will be at school tomorrow… Speaking of which…I'm gonna be late!”
He tried to run past the gang. They were apparently going the same way as his school. He would have gotten further if it weren't for Kenji grabbing him by the collar of his jacket. “Where are you going? Aren't you gonna hang out?” he asked. Toshiya shook his head.
“I have school! I can't be late again, or my mom will be called! Then she'll be disappointed!” he said, trying to run again, but Kenji held him fast. He jerked backwards, and almost fell into Kenji.
“So? Hey, why don't you show me this guy of your's. Then we can see him now, and make plans while you're in school. I think it's better this way anyway.” he asked, smiling at the other gang members. Toshiya didn't like the sound of that at all!

The gang was close behind Toshiya, as he went up the steps of the school. Surprisingly, Shin'ya was there, waiting patiently for…wait! The school bell had already rung!
“Shin'ya? Why aren't you in school? The bell rang ten minutes ago!” he said, forgetting the gang was right behind him.
“I had to talk to you. So I waited.” He said.
“Not today you ain't! We have a bone to pick with you!” Kenji said, grabbing Shin'ya by the shirt. Shin'ya didn't show the least bit of fear. He only looked confused.
“Who the hell do you think you are?! Don't you know that Toshiya is part of our gang, and that we're here to back him up? He doesn't want anything to do with you!” Kenji yelled.
Shin'ya raised his eyebrows, surprised. “Oh? Does he now? I don't want to talk to you. I need to talk to Toshiya. Alone. No “gang” members.” He said annoyed.
Kenji grabbed Shin'ya roughly, and threw him against the brick wall. Toshiya tried to help him, but the other gang members pulled him back. Kenji made sure Toshiya was out of ear shot. He leaned right next to Shin'ya's ear.
“If you ever go near Toshiya again, I'll kill him. Even if he goes near you, I'll kill him!” he said, angrily. Shin'ya got up slowly, unharmed.
Kenji, the gang, and a struggling Toshiya, all left.
Shin'ya looked down at the ground. “Kill Toshiya? I thought that they were all friends…Shit. I think Toshiya is in trouble…” he was so confused as to why they were making such a big deal out of it. Was it really necessary? Did Toshiya really contribute to the gang enough to make them do something drastic if he got out of line once? This was something serious, and he needed to find out.

That was your boyfriend?! Toshiya you gotta be kidding me! He was so lame! He didn't even fight back! What the hell were you thinking?! Damn you kid! Why don't you go home! We're gonna to talk about this tonight. This may even decide if you need to be watched or somethin'!” Toshiya was about to protest, but was cut off by Kenji. “Get goin'!” He walked away slowly, receiving catcalls from the other members of the gang. The ones he wasn't too familiar with…
He wanted to talk to Shin'ya, but his gang had forbidden it. But…what could the gang do? Besides kick him out that is. What was more important? His gang? Or Shin'ya?
“Hn. That's an easy one. I don't think I wanna be in the gang if they can't except the way I am. I've only been attracted to Shin'ya anyway. No other guy…” he said to himself.
He decided he was going to talk to Shin'ya, whether the gang liked it or not. He was going to wait until midnight. Hopefully Shin'ya would be waiting for him...

Shin'ya sat on one of the rafters of the old warehouse, one leg dangling. He was in his normal vampire outfit…the one where he first met Toshiya…
He had put his long, silky black tresses into a tight ponytail. He pushed a few stray strands out of his eyes. He was thinking. Thinking of Toshiya. He just couldn't let Toshiya go. But…if he went near him…Toshiya's life would be at a high risk.
“What the hell am I supposed to do? I love him, damnit! Why can't they understand that!” Shin'ya growled deep in his throat, and sat back against a beam. `Stupid idiots. Don't even know why they're doing this…'
Shin'ya suddenly noticed the sun was going down. The soft fluorescent glow of the moon could be seen through the small cracks of the old wood. The blue light played against Shin'ya's distressed features. He shook his head. “Great…another night…”

Toshiya looked at his clock. Eleven o'clock. Toshiya got up, and out of bed. He was still fully dressed, and ready to go. He just pretended to be asleep, because his mother had told him to go to bed.
He grabbed his jacket off the chair, and opened the window. There was a cool breeze that night, and it smelt of fresh cut spring flowers. He snorted grumpily at the smell. Of course it has to smell like that. It smelt like a woman!
The stars were bright, but nothing compared to the light of the moon. If the moon were any brighter, it would have been daylight.
Toshiya grabbed onto a tree branch, and tried to jump down. To his dismay, his pants caught a hold of a loose nail, and he landed hard onto the ground, face first.
“Aack!” he spit out dirt and grass, and stood up. He kicked the dirt angrily, and grumbled to himself. “Damnit! He better be there!” He checked his pants, and made sure he didn't ruin them. He sighed as he noticed just a small hole on the leg of his pants.
He shook his head, and looked around quickly, making sure no one was watching, before dashing off into the bright night.

Toshiya walked silently through the trees and bushes, occasionally getting hit with branches. He mumbled to himself about how Shin'ya should move.
The warehouse finally came into view after much deliberation. He nodded, and headed towards it.
He knocked on the door patiently at first, but then had to get rough because the stubborn vampire wouldn't open up.
“Shin'ya! It's me! Open up!” he shouted. No one answered. “Damnit! Shin'ya please!” still no answer.
“Shit.” Toshiya tried the doorknob, and was surprised to find it wasn't locked. “Shin'ya! Where are you?” he asked into the darkness.
“No! Go the hell away! Quick! Before something bad happens to you! Go away!” he shouted, hiding in the shadows, not showing himself.
“It's okay. They'll never know. It's barely eleven-fifteen. They're all out drinking by this time.” He whispered. There was some rustling heard before Shin'ya stepped out of the shadows, eyes bright.
“No, Toshiya, you don't understand. I don't wanna get you hurt because those bastards are too stupid to understand. I love you too much to do that to you. Go away,” He repeated.
Toshiya shook his head. “They're not going to know. I didn't sneak out of the house just for you to tell me to leave. I'm staying here. So no arguing. You have a problem with it? Tell it to someone who cares.” He said, sticking his tongue out at the vampire. Shin'ya smiled wickedly.
“Don't stick that tongue out at me unless you're going to use it…” Toshiya looked shocked, but smiled back. “Well, if you're not going to leave, then I'm afraid I'll have to torture you until you do.” Shin'ya said playfully, pushing Toshiya against the door behind him.
“Oh really? Then torture me all you want, you evil bastard. I won't give in…” he whispered, catching Shin'ya's lips in a quick kiss.
“I love the way you taste…” Shin'ya whispered, before traveling down Toshiya's neck and collarbone with soft, feather light kisses. His hands went to work on pulling Toshiya's shirt off as fast as possible. The fabric was taken off in no time and thrown to the floor beside them. Shin'ya continued his antics and this time moved a little lower. Toshiya gasped as Shin'ya's lips gently played over one of his nipples. Shin'ya's eyes flickered up to meet Toshiya's, before his tongue darted out to taste the flesh before him.
“Shin'ya…” he whimpered, reaching up with one hand to play with the vampire's hair. His fingers sifted through what seemed like silk, as Shin'ya caressed his tongue over Toshiya's nipples in sensual ways. Shin'ya suddenly stopped what he was doing, and leaned up to kiss his love passionately. His lips separated from Toshiya's and he kissed along his jaw line to his ear.
“Toshiya…” he nipped lightly at Toshiya's earlobe before continuing. “This is going to hurt…” Before Toshiya could react, Shin'ya's lips were pressed against his jugular vain, tasting the delicious skin underneath. His fangs were suddenly bared, and Toshiya could feel them cutting through his flesh like sharp needles. Almost instantly, blood filled Shin'ya's mouth, and the warm coppery liquid oozed down his neck and chest. Shin'ya sucked hungrily at Toshiya's neck, and would occasionally let more flow down, covering Toshiya's torso in crimson. He pulled away, and looked Toshiya over carefully for any signs of regret. Toshiya's eyes were closed tight, and he hissed now and then because of the pain in his neck. Shin'ya licked the blood once more from the wound before spreading the escaped blood all over Toshiya's stomach.
“I'm thinking this is going to be easier if we're laying down, ne?” he asked, as he guided Toshiya over to the pile of blankets. He helped Toshiya lay down flat, and waited until he was comfortable before he continued. Shin'ya looked up at Toshiya with an expectant look. Toshiya nodded, eyes still closed. Shin'ya smiled, and kissed Toshiya on the lips once again before finishing what he had started.
He gently trailed his fingers along Toshiya's stomach, coaxing most of the blood into Toshiya's navel. After most of it had been placed there, he leaned down and dipped his tongue into the small puddle of blood. Toshiya gasped at the sensation surging through his body as Shin'ya's skillful tongue roamed over his torso.
“Shin'ya…mm…I love you so much…” Toshiya whispered through quickened breaths. Shin'ya licked at the last of the remaining blood, and kissed at Toshiya's neck wound appreciatively. He looked up into Toshiya's eyes, and smiled, a fang poking out from his mouth.
“That was really good. Sorry…I had to test it. Your skin is so delicious, I wanted to taste what was on the inside,” he whispered, before connecting his and Toshiya's lips. Toshiya could taste hints of his own blood on Shin'ya's tongue, and wanted more. He deepened the kiss even more, making Shin'ya moan into his mouth. Shin'ya broke the kiss.
“Let me take you…I want to show you a good time…” he breathed.
“You already have…what could be better then this?”
Shin'ya smiled seductively. “Trust me, there's more to it then just that,”
Toshiya smiled also. “Show me, koi. I'm curious to know…”
“That's just what I wanted to hear…”
Shin'ya kissed Toshiya hard on the lips as his fingers worked at getting Toshiya's pants off. Toshiya helped him, and the pants were successfully pulled over his hips, and past his legs. The pants soon joined his shirt, along with the rest of Toshiya's clothes, and Shin'ya's clothing as well. They were both naked now, and panting hard. Just the feeling of their hot, and sweat covered bodies, pressed against each other was enough to drive them wild.
Shin'ya leaned back and admired his lovely human in the blue moonlight. He moaned as he saw his lover's face full of lust and want. He growled.
“No more fooling around. I'm going to take you right here and now!” he said, moving his hands down Toshiya's thighs, one hand resting there, while the other one moved between Toshiya's legs towards his entrance. Toshiya gasped and moaned in pleasure as he felt Shin'ya's finger gently enter him. When a second finger was added, Toshiya almost shot up off the ground. He frowned, and looked up at Shin'ya.
“Have you ever done this before, Toshiya?” Shin'ya asked, moving his fingers around inside of Toshiya. Toshiya closed his eyes, and bit his bottom lip.
“N-no…” he managed to whisper out, as a third finger was added.
“I'm sorry there isn't anything to make it feel much better, but…if you wanna stop, we can,” Shin'ya murmured. Toshiya shook his head vigorously.
“N-no! Don't' stop…please…” Shin'ya sighed, and took his fingers out.
“Okay…I'll try not to hurt you. But please…if you want me to stop…then say so…” Shin'ya spread Toshiya's legs open a bit wider before placing the tip of his cock at Toshiya's entrance. “Ready?” he asked. Toshiya simply nodded. Shin'ya nodded also and pushed in as gently as he could without hurting Toshiya. The human cried out, and grabbed a hold of Shin'ya's shoulders. He winced, and moaned as Shin'ya sunk in deeper.
“Do you want me to stop?” he asked. Toshiya shook his head again, and opened his eyes. Their eyes met, and Shin'ya leaned down and kissed Toshiya roughly on the lips. He wished so bad to go faster and harder…all his love had to do was say the word. He swiftly pulled out, and then in again, this time getting a little deeper. Toshiya panted hard, and managed to choke out words from the pain and pleasure.
“Harder…faster…” he panted, moaning loudly.
Shin'ya smiled, and quickened his pace. He pulled all the way out, and then shoved back in again. He continued this over and over again. They were both moaning and panting now, very close to the edge.
Shin'ya grabbed onto Toshiya's member, caressing it in his touch. That was it for Toshiya. His seed exploded all over Shin'ya's hand and his stomach. Shin'ya soon followed after, releasing inside Toshiya. He gently pulled out, and collapsed on top of the tired human. After catching his breath, he cleaned them both up with a rag lying next to them.
“Shin'ya…?” Toshiya asked.
“Yeah?” Shin'ya said, yawning. He pulled the human into a tight embrace, and kissed his shoulder tenderly.
“Aishiteru…” he whispered, before falling into a deep sleep. Shin'ya smiled.
“I love you too…” and soon, he too fell fast asleep.

Shin'ya woke up, startled. He had heard something outside moving around. He looked at Toshiya to see if he had heard it, and icy blue eyes met violet ones.
“What is that?” he whispered. Shin'ya shook his head and held a finger to his lips. Toshiya nodded, understanding. Shin'ya sat up, and listened again. It sounded like someone was throwing rocks outside. He frowned, and grabbed their clothes that were right next to them. He tossed Toshiya's to him and started working on getting his own clothes on.
“I smell humans. It's not an animal. You wait here, I'm going to go check to see what it is,” he murmured, and once his clothes were back on, he slunk over to the door of the warehouse and disappeared behind it. Almost instantly, gunfire could be heard. Toshiya gasped and quickly pulled on his shirt. He was about to run outside, but Shin'ya came in first. He had his hand over his stomach, and his brows were knitted in confusion and pain.
“What happened? Who the hell is out there?” Toshiya demanded, moving forward. He looked at where Shin'ya was holding his stomach and could see blood seeping through his fingers. “Y-you're bleeding? Shin'ya, how-”
“It's fine. I heal quickly. Doesn't even hurt now. You have to remember, I'm a vampire,” he said, taking his hand away from the wound. The wound was completely healed, and only the hole in his shirt and the blood was left.
“Toshiya! We know you're in there! Come out and face me like a man!” a familiar voice shouted from outside. Gunfire sounded again.
Toshiya looked at Shin'ya and smiled. “This is going to be one hell of a fight,” he said, laughing.

They walked out the warehouse cautiously, Shin'ya in front. The moon was still bright and shining, nearly two o'clock.
“Well, if it isn't our old buddy!” Kenji said, stepping up to them, gun raised. “Oh yes, and his little boyfriend. How cute,”
“Shut the hell up, you fucker!” Toshiya said, moving away from Shin'ya. Shin'ya grabbed his arm and gave him a warning glance. Kenji smirked.
“You may want to listen him. He knows what he's talking about,” Kenji laughed, cocking the gun. He fired one shot close to Toshiya's head, but Toshiya remained where he was. He didn't even flinch. “You got guts kid,” Kenji fired another shot, this time at Toshiya's arm. It hit him in the forearm, and he cried out. Shin'ya growled, and blocked Toshiya from getting hit again. Toshiya pushed Shin'ya aside, and looked down at his arm. The sleeve of his jacket was now torn, and had blood all over it. He grabbed it angrily and ripped it off.
“You asshole! This cost me a fortune!” he barked, reaching down, and grabbing the knife out of his boot.
Kenji shook his head. He raised one hand and waved his finger at Toshiya. “Nope. Put that down, or I'll shoot you again. Think about it pretty boy, you know damn well I don't have good aim. I may hit you somewhere vital,” he warned.
Toshiya dropped the knife and it hit the ground with a thud. “You chicken shit, why don't you fight like a man. Are you really too scared to face me in a hand-to-hand combat? Have to use a long-range weapon, huh?” Toshiya let out a cocky smile, and raised his eyebrow.
“You know damn well I can kick your ass to tomorrow without this gun.” Kenji said, tossing the gun back behind him. It was promptly caught by one of the other gang members.
“Try me. We'll see who the better fighter is,” Toshiya said, taking off his jacket and tossing it to the ground. Shin'ya grabbed him by the shoulder and turned him around.
“Toshiya…don't get yourself killed,” he whispered, before meeting his lips and Toshiya's together in one quick kiss. Toshiya nodded, then turned around again, facing Kenji with that same cocky smile from before.
“This fight has no rules what so ever. The only thing you can't use, are weapons, got it? Everything else is fair.” Kenji said, rolling his sleeves up to his elbows.
Toshiya nodded in acceptance, and took his fighting stance. “I wanna add one more rule to that though. I say no help from anyone else. That's cheating,” he added.
“Fair enough,”
“Damn Toshiya, you're definitely in for it…”

Toshiya fell back, and landed on the ground, holding his stomach. He had just been punched…hard. He coughed into his hand, and noticed blood had come out of his mouth. He wiped his mouth, and stood up, facing his enemy. Kenji smirked, then laughed.
I though you were going to kick my ass…? When did you say you were going to be doing this? Just curious,” he laughed again, and moved forward. Before Toshiya could react, he was picked up by the collar of his shirt. He tried to struggle, but Kenji held a good grip on him. Toshiya suddenly had an idea. He made a struggle and tried to break loose of Kenji's grip again to distract him. When it worked, he kneed him in the gut. Kenji dropped Toshiya, and doubled over in pain. Toshiya took this time to beat the shit out of Kenji. He punched him as hard as he could in the face over and over. When Kenji finally hit the ground, he stopped, and panted like a running dog.
He crouched down, and still held his stomach, coughing again. When he heard a cackle come from Kenji, he looked up with confusion. If those punches didn't hurt him, then what would? Kenji sat up, and glared at Toshiya with an evil smirk.
“Heh, for a minute there, I thought you were actually going to do some damage. You're weak, Toshiya. You're pathetic, and you can't fight. You're going to lose,” he said in a low voice. Toshiya's eyes narrowed, and he growled in frustration. He got up and stood over Kenji. Kenji merely smiled, and grabbed Toshiya by the leg, pulling him down to the ground again. Toshiya caught himself with his right hand, and to his dismay, it landed in glass. His arm came out from under him, and he landed on his back. He didn't have time to see how badly wounded his hand was, for Kenji was on top of him, punching him in the gut and the face. He tried to push Kenji off, but he was too strong. He ended up just blocking his face with his arms as Kenji got him in the stomach many times. When he finally had the strength to actually move, he moved one of his hands to his side, feeling the dirt next to him. He grabbed a handful, and threw it in Kenji's face. Kenji was suddenly caught off guard, and Toshiya had a chance to throw him off. He decided to do it with a fast punch to the jaw.
Toshiya stood up as quickly as he could, swaying a bit from the blows he had taken. He didn't have time to check his glass-covered hand, but could feel the blood drip down his fingers. Kenji was all over him again, swinging his fist this way and that. Toshiya managed to dodge most of them, and even made some advances of his own.
Toshiya took a chance, and waited until Kenji started to slow down. When he thought it was the right moment, he swung his leg up, and kicked as hard as he could. A small smile graced his lips, as his opponent fell to the ground. He had managed to kick him in the head.
When Kenji didn't move, he collapsed on the ground, tired out and hurting. Shin'ya was instantly kneeling in front of him. “Toshiya! You did it! You defeated him!” he shouted happily. Toshiya could barely hear what he was saying. He coughed again into his unwounded hand, and sighed.
Though the two couldn't see it, Kenji moved slightly. He moved his hand up, and the gang member with the gun threw it at him. He caught it easily, and cocked it. He pointed it at the Vampire's back.
Toshiya looked up into Shin'ya's eyes, and smiled. “I guess I di-” he stopped. He looked behind Shin'ya's head, and could see the gun pointed at them. He panicked, and shoved Shin'ya out of the way.
The sound of gunshot was heard over the quiet little, worn down part of town.
To Shin'ya, it was like it was all in slow motion. When Toshiya had looked into his eyes and smiled. The smile had quickly vanished, and before he knew it, he was shoved to the side just as the blast could be heard. Then, he had watched in utter horror as his love was flung back by the blast, and he had managed to catch Toshiya just before he hit the ground. He could hear the blood pour out of the wound and splash against the gravel covered ground below.
“T-toshiya!” Shin'ya managed to choke out. Toshiya's eyes were closed, and his breathing was coming to a slow. Shin'ya shook his head, and shook the human lightly in his grasp. Toshiya didn't respond. Shin'ya's blood ran cold. Was he dead? No, he could feel the heart beat of Toshiya from the blood in his veins. He pulled off the cape around his shoulders, and rolled it into a ball. He placed Toshiya's head on it, and stood up slowly.
His look of shock suddenly morphed into the look of hatred and malice. He turned his gaze to the human who held the gun tightly in his grip. Kenji had a smirk on his face, and he had managed to sit up. “You…you bastard!” Shin'ya growled.
Kenji cackled evilly, and cocked the gun again. Before he could fire it at Shin'ya he was thrown against the gang behind him. They all fell to the ground, surprised by Shin'ya's strength. A flash of lightning cut through the night sky, and a clap of thunder roared overhead. They all gasped as Shin'ya's eyes turned a bloody crimson. Only the red could be seen in the darkness now. The clouds had turned black instead of gray, and the thunder and lightning kept coming.
“You dare touch him…you shall die!” This was not Shin'ya's voice that was speaking. It was like some kind of devil had taken over his body, and it was controlling him to say this. He lifted a hand, revealing sharp, shining, claws.

The thunder was so loud; no one could hear the screams behind it. The pain in those screams as they were being massacred, and slaughtered was enough to make someone's blood freeze over in shrill terror.

Toshiya opened his eyes slowly. He winced slightly from the huge amount of pain engulfing his current being. He wasn't sure where he was, but he was definitely outside. Rain dropped onto his face, and body. To him, it was actually warm where he was. The rain was cold, but…he was still warm. When he focused his gaze, he noticed he was being held by the only one he had hoped to see. Shin'ya. Despite the rain, he could see tears streaming down the vampire's solemn face. He reached a hand up, and touched Shin'ya's cheek softly. Shin'ya gasped, and grabbed the hand touching him.
“Toshiya…” Shin'ya whispered. Toshiya looked confused, and closed his eyes a second before opening them again.
“W-why are you…c-crying…?” he asked so quietly, he himself, could barely hear it. Shin'ya shook his head, and didn't answer right away.
“B-because…I might lose my one and only love,” he murmured, biting back a sob as he spoke.
Toshiya knitted his brows together. “I-I'm not going anywhere…” Shin'ya smiled.
“I know, koi, I know. Not if I get you some help…” he sniffed, and lifted himself and Toshiya up, flapping out his giant bat wings in the process. “I can't let you die,”
That was all Toshiya heard, before he passed out.

Shin'ya sat in the waiting room of the hospital he had dropped Toshiya off at. His knees were pulled up to his chin, and silent tears made their way down his face. He didn't even notice when a police officer had taken a seat across from him.
“Sir. Sir?” the officer asked. Shin'ya snapped back to reality, and looked at the doctor.
“What is it?” he asked. He winced at the cracking that could be heard in his shallow voice.
“I need to know what happened. I need to know how he got those injuries. You're the one who brought him in…how did this happen?” the police officer asked. Shin'ya stared at the officer for a minute before speaking.
“It was a fight. A fucking gang fight. That's all,” he said, facing forward again.
“A…gang fight?” the police officer repeated. He had an uncertainty in his voice. “How did this fight come to occur?” he asked, more clearly.
“Because…it just did. It was stupid, that's all. But it doesn't matter anymore. I don't care. I just want Toshiya to be okay…” he trailed off, and could feel more tears burning at his eyes. “It's my fault…” he whispered.
The police officer shook his head, knowing he wasn't going to get any more out of the poor teen in front of him. He stood up, and left Shin'ya to cry into his hands.

“Shin'ya!” Shin'ya's head snapped up to look at the woman with the familiar voice that had called his name. He watched as Toshiya's mother came running in the door with his brother and his dad close behind.
“Shin'ya, what happened? Where is he?” she asked, trying to stay calm. Shin'ya stood up, and stood in front of the panicky woman.
“I-I don't know.” Was all he managed to say. He really didn't know what to tell her. He didn't want to lie, but this situation was serious. It was something he couldn't bring himself to tell her. Because if it weren't for him, Toshiya would not be in the hospital right now. Toshiya's mother looked confused.
“What?” Shin'ya took a deep, shaky breath.
“It's all my fault…I'm sorry…” he whispered. Toshiya's mother frowned, then grabbed Shin'ya into a tight, warm, embrace. He didn't move, and just accepted the gesture. He could feel his tears run down his face and soak the woman's coat. He could also feel the woman shake from the sobs she had held back.
“It's not your fault. I know…no matter what it is…it's not your fault,” those words flashed through Shin'ya's mind, and he felt a small wave of relieve wash over him.
“Uh, miss. You may see your son now,” a nurse said holding open the door to the hallway of many rooms.
When they separated, she gave him a quick kiss on the forehead, and headed in to see Toshiya. Shin'ya stayed put where he was, and watched as the three left behind the door.
Shin'ya sighed, and sat down again, wiping the tears from his eyes. He had a lot to think about now before he would see Toshiya. There was something eating at the back of his mind, and he had to get it settled. This was the only opportunity. He had to decide if this was what he wanted…or better put…is if this is what he had to do.

Shin'ya stopped at the door of Toshiya's room, and sighed heavily. He had come to a decision on what he was going to do now. This was going to be heartbreaking for the both of them, but he had to do it.
He walked in, and sat at the empty chair right beside Toshiya's hospital bed. He looked at the human for a moment, and smiled. Toshiya was so beautiful. Though he was in critical condition…he looked so peaceful. It was as though he were only sleeping.
He reached out a hand, and gently stroked Toshiya's cheek. He quickly brought his hand back, and more tears formed at his eyes.
“I-I'm so sorry, Toshiya…” he whispered in a shaky voice, as he brought his head down to wipe at the tears coming at an amazing speed. He lifted his head again, and the tears rolled down his cheeks and chin. “I love you so much, but…” he couldn't finish. He knew Toshiya could hear none of this, but it didn't matter. He had to say it and get it over with before Toshiya was awake and had a say in it. His deep violet eyes trembled, and he closed them. This was harder then he had planned.
“I-I can't…I can't see you anymore,” he said, sobbing now. “I can't anymore…because…I-it's too dangerous…” he paused, and took a hold of Toshiya's warm hand. His thumb gently caressed it, and he leaned over. He looked closely one last time at his lover, and bent down to his those soft lips. A tear from Shin'ya dropped onto Toshiya's face, and rolled down his cheek. “This is…this is goodbye, love,” Shin'ya pulled away, and slowly headed for the window. He looked outside it, and shivered. Just the thought of going out into the rain was horrible. He's rather stay with his love…but he couldn't…
“I'll always love you…now…and forever…” was the last thing he said to Toshiya before he flew off into the night. The darkness swallowing him up with one quick motion. He didn't even look back, for he knew he couldn't.

`I shall remember you in my heart, and for all eternity,'
