War
By: Lady Lolita
Families left behind
Waiting for loved ones who never return
Those that do
Are never the same again
The dead lie on the battlefield
Blood flowing all around them
Some of it their own
Some of it their comrades’
Some of it the enemy’s
Their insides hanging out
Limbs detached from the bodies
Eyes wide open yet unseeing
Clothing torn
In some cases singed
Even less is left Of those who were blown apart
Honor has no home here
But then it never did
At one time dignity could be found in war
In the way they marched
The way they spoke
Though never in the way they fought
And never had honor a place there
War is born of vengeance
War is made from fear
War is made for patriots That think there’s no other choice
But those same patriots
Never try to find another way
If the leader does not get his way
Then he throws a fit
And calls for war
The leader feels no shame
While forcing opinions on others
What to do with others’ resources
And how to feel safe
But when he doesn’t get his way
He throws a deadly temper tantrum
Like a boy that destroys his toys and others’ things When he does not get his way in the candy store
But this temper tantrum takes the lives of innocents
