Chapter 6: Thursday, September 14th - The Dream World /part 1

Darien blinked his eyes a moment. He felt funny. He didn’t know just why, though. He looked around a moment. ‘I’m in some girl’s room?’ he thought as he noticed the colors of the room and assorted plush toys laying in one corner, not to mention a slightly pink bra on the floor. He stood up. His eyes widened. ‘What the…?’ he thought. When he stood up, he wasn’t that much further up than he was when he was laying on the bed. Darien turned his head and his eyes really grew wide. He had a short white curly tail. He tried to yell and what came out was a loud squeal. He immediately jumped off the bed and on to the dresser and looked in the mirror. He saw a white little piglet in the mirror. ‘Oh my gosh. Nooooo. I’m a little pig,’ he thought.

He heard a voice behind him. She moaned quietly as she started to roll in her bed.

Darien turned around. She was waking up. He looked at the window. The shades were closed, but there was light shining through. Darien started to think, ‘If she wakes up then that means…she’d be changing her clothes and…’ Darien gulped, ‘She’d be naked.’ He jumped down from the dresser and ran to the door. It was shut, so he started scratching at the door, hoping someone would open it form him. Maybe she would let him out before she changed.

Darien kept scratching at the door. He heard her get out of bed and yawn, then he stopped and turned around. It was Melissa from last night. She apparently didn’t see him standing in front of the door, since she headed to her dresser. He watched her choose a cute pink dress out of her drawer along with her undergarments. She started to take off her pajama tops. Darien’s heart started to race at the sight. It was hard for him to turn away. Just the thought of catching a glimpse of her excited him. He forced his eyes shut just before her arms reached to her mid-section. ‘I can’t watch this,’ he thought as he gulped even harder. The urge to look again came to him and he slowly opened his eyes. His vision was blurry and he could make out only her pink skin, but no details. He blinked and forced his eyes shut again.

“Uh, a pig? How did you get in here?” Darien heard her say. He opened his eyes and he made a little pig squeal. He looked up at her and gulped.

Melissa’s smile lit up the room. No wonder, Otaru liked her. She kneeled down and reached out for Darien. He backed his body up against the door. But she picked him up, anyway. “That’s a good piggy,” she said smiling. “Does little piggy want some breakfast?” she said in a babyish voice.

Darien was a little annoyed by this. Being talked to like a baby, err pig, was degrading.

She held Darien, the pig, to her chest and started to walk out her door to the eating area. Darien didn’t mind this too much. The attention was kinda comforting. But yet, he thought a lot about Yuki still, even though he hadn’t really known her yet. That and this was Otaru’s girl not his. He shouldn’t be enjoying this.

Otaru was sitting at the table sipping some tea. From underneath the table, Darien spied a little old man with a pink bra in his hand. The funny looking man put the bra in Otaru’s other hand which was resting on the floor. Otaru looked up to see Melissa standing nearby. He raised his arm and waved with the bra in hand saying, “Ohayo, Missy-chan.”

“Ohy…” she started to say till she saw the bra in his hand. “Otaru? What do you think you’re doing with that?” she said as her eyebrows started to fold inward on her face. She had never known Otaru to be a pervert.

“Doing with what?” he said looking confused.

“My bra, you perv!” she shouted, dropping Darien in the process. Darien fell to the floor with a bonk of his head. His eyes swirled for a moment before shaking it off.

“Huh?” was Otaru’s response, then he looked into his hand. “Aahhhh!” he yelled as he threw it out of his hand. “How’d that get there?”

Melissa stared angrily at him, though the pink bra had landed on her head, almost blocking her vision. “I’ll bet,” Melissa said coldly.

Darien was standing nearby, not having much fun, listening to the two yell at each other. ‘And I thought they were in love,’ he thought to himself. He couldn’t bare to hear anymore so he walked into the kitchen, which was just down the short hall.

Darien looked up to see Megumi standing there at the stove. She picked up a steaming teapot and set it near the edge of the table. Then she headed out of the kitchen. Darien looked up at the table, noticing the pot. Just as he thought that the pot was too close to the edge, it fell, pouring hot water all over him. He squealed, but moments later he was a normal human. Darien looked himself over. “I’m me again,” he said silently to himself with a little bit of disbelief. Not more than a second later, his eyes grew. “And I’m naked!” he said in a somewhat louder voice. Darien covered his mouth, hoping noone heard him. He went to the kitchen door and looked out down the hall. Otaru was still defending himself, while Melissa kept calling him a pervert. Megumi had her back turned to the kitchen. This was Darien’s chance to sneak the other way and find some clothes. He quickly ran the opposite direction down the hall to the first door he saw and went in. Noone there. ‘Whew,’ he thought. He went straight for the closet and found himself some clothes. They were rather plain. Just a light tan color with a black belt that went around the waist. He sighed again, still relieved that he wasn’t noticed.

----------------------
Yuki had been wandering around the dark woods for a very long time now, literally hours. She had taken breaks just to sit down. Although every time she did sit, something would give her a reason to continue on. The last time she sat down to take a break near an old, withered tree, she had heard a rustling from the bushes. It was these unseen things that made her restless and almost unable to rest.

She continued to walk. Often times tripping over rocks or tree roots. It was dark enough that she was unable to see most things. Walking was her only choice to keep from hurting herself. She couldn’t walk in such darkness.

In the distance she could see a faint light. She walked towards it. She was fearing what it could be, but any light in this situation seemed to be some kind of comfort and for all she knew it may be her way out.

The closer she got the more she could see of it. There seemed to be a small shadow on the inside of it. She walked even closer. It was the figure of a small cat.

“Neko?” she said quietly, her voice echoing.

“Meow,” it said, hearing Yuki’s voice.

“Neko!” she yelled out as she ran closer, not thinking about how dangerous it was to run in the dark. She tripped and fell on her face the moment she thought of this. “Ow,” she mumbled struggling upward. “Gosh I’m stupid,” she said.

“Don’t be foolish. You’re not stupid,” a voice said. The voice sounded much like that of a well educated man.

Yuki was on her knees with her face bent to the ground. Her face shot up after hearing this. “Who said that?” she asked, turning her head in all directions.

“I did. In front of you,” the voice said again.

She looked at the cat in amazement. “Neko?” she said in surprise.

“Actually, my name is Charles Feline, but you may call me Charlie,” the small cat said.

“Y-you can talk?”

“Well, of course I can. This is a dream world after all.”

Yuki nodded. “Of course,” she said.

“We must hurry, Yuki. We can’t stay here long and I have much to teach you. Follow me. I know a place we can go…away from whatever may find us here,” Charlie said as he turned around and started to fade off into the darkness.

Yuki got up and called to the cat, “Wait! Where are we going.” She could not hear a response.

Just then a voice boomed out from above saying, “Go ahead. Try and find a way out. I’ve got you where I want you and you can never escape.” The voice was cold and low.

Yuki dropped to her knees and started to cry. It wasn’t the first time throughout this ordeal. By now her eyes were very sore, more so than she had ever felt when she found herself crying at school.

“You’re too weak, too scared, and too stupid. Face it! You’ll be stuck here till you die,” the booming voice kept growing and then started to laugh.

The laugh echoed in her ears. The words cut her like a knife. Those were the things that she felt about herself for a good part of her life. Life felt so harsh to her and the voice, whatever it was, reflected that of her self pity.

The voice kept echoing and kept tormenting her as she sat there on her knees crying.
