Author's Note: Yes, yes… At the time of writing this, there is another story going on. But I just write the stories as the ideas come. By the way, this time I DO own the characters, so no touchy!! Wait, was that an `I'? Heh, there is no `I'. `I' does not exist. *wink, wink*

“Eeeee! No, stay back! Eeeeee!” The vampire lunged, sinking its teeth into her neck. Black blood oozed from the wound. The two figures fell back onto the bed, the woman's twitching body finally lying still.
“Oh come on!” Thomas said, throwing popcorn at the screen. “There isn't that much blood in the human body!”
“You've gotta remember this was made, what, five BILLION years ago?” Aaron said, grabbing the bucket of popcorn from his friend. Kate just sighed.
The three friends were sitting in the front row of the empty movie theater, watching `Buffy the Vampire Meal'. It wasn't a very good movie, considering how old and cheesy it was. But what else to do on a Friday night? They had already hung around at the mall, had enough pizza to feed three armies and a third world country, and seen two other movies. They were simply wasting time now.
Kate smoothed down her short black hair and glanced at her watch. Five minutes to midnight. Rubbing her arms and wishing she'd brought a jacket, she leaned towards Aaron, who was sitting on her left and whispered,
“Think we should be going? It's almost midnight.” He looked at her, brown eyes looking red in the bizarre lighting and said,
“Are you crazy? I want to see how many times Thomas yells at the screen before the movie's over!” Kate shook her head, then looked to Thomas on her right. His glasses reflected the light from the screen, giving him an almost rat-like appearance.
“Thomas, it's almost midnight. Let's go.”
“No, no. I want to see the end.” Kate crossed her arms and leaned back. Boys, she thought. Looking at her watch once more, she had only enough time to see that it read `12:00 A.M.' before a flaming pain shot up her body. She cried out, falling to her knees on the floor. She saw Aaron and Thomas do the same, wincing and grimacing at what she knew was the same pain. Then the world went black, and Kate felt herself fall face forward into nothingness.

Darkness consumes, does it not?
A voice rang out in Kate's head in the darkness. At least, she was pretty sure it was in her head. She couldn't quite tell.
What the hell? Who are you?
That is not important. What is important is what I am about to tell you. When you awaken, go to the old warehouse behind the movie theater. Do not go anywhere else and do not allow yourself to be seen. Do you understand?
Yeah, but why should I trust you? And what the hell is going on?
Such a temper. Such impatience. You will need to learn to hold your tongue if you wish to master these powers.
Is this some kind of joke?
A cruel, twisted joke played upon many, including myself. Meet me at the entrance to this warehouse. You will know me when you see me.
Tell me what's going on NOW!
It is not my place to explain. Know only this: You are not alone, no matter how lonely it seems at first.
Before she could respond, the darkness faded and the ceiling of the movie theater swam into view. It was brighter than she remembered. They must have turned on the lights. Did that mean the movie was over? How long had she been unconscious? Turning her head to the right, for she was lying on the ground, she saw the woman from before-hey, wasn't she dead? -running through a grave yard across the screen. Her shrill scream pierced her ears. Had they turned the volume up or something? And why, WHY was it so damn bright? Sitting up carefully, eyes closed from the bright light, she turned around and opened her eyes a slit to check on Thomas. What she saw made her eyes snap open regardless of the light.
Standing in his place was a four-foot tall rat with glowing red eyes and long, scythe-like claws.
“Hi, Kate,” It said.
“THOMAS!?”
