Fan Fiction ❯ What's Meant to Be ❯ Wrapped in Reverie ( Prologue )
Prologue
Night and darkness, fear and corruption, those were the feelings the thoughts that surfaced in her mind, as a shadowed figure looked upon the darkened Gotham Streets. Barely recognizable as female, her baggy ebony overcoat hid away most of the curves and contoures of her figure. Her black hair swirled in the wind, contrasting to the ice blue color of her eyes. Looking down from atop the Wayne/Powers Building, she could hardly believe that this was the Gotham she had once knew. At eighteen, she could not even imagine the changes that had taken place in the last ten years. The Buildings had changed. The people had changed. Even the very nature of the night had changed. There was was still the corruption, the malice, the rage. She could still taste it waifing on the air, faint, but still detectable. But it was a different variety. The megalopolis seemed to emmenate a Darkness she could not touch, but felt in her heart the very same. The figure sighed. So much has changed, and yet it has remained the same, She thought in her mind, with a distant reverie of the past. Downcast and saddened, she knew in her heart what to do in these perilous times. She knew in her heart, her mind, and soul that she had to continue where her father left off. And begin to fight against the work her mother helped create. With no more then a distant glance to the heavens, sighing in sadness, the figure swiveled to face the door to the roof, and began to walk away.
