Ch. 3: Psylocke's brave battle

Angel looked onward onto the mansion yards; thinking on how is teammates were doing. He was also thinking about proposing to Psylocke. He had been in love with her for months and months, and thought it would be best that he asked her to be his. He had just found out that she was returning because Psylocke was relived from her duty from Storm, who thought Psylocke needed a break. While Archangel looked on, Havok, Polaris, and Nightcrawler waited for the Professor.

"I don't like this. First, we're attacked by Magneto, who last I heard was exiled to Antarctica. Second, our team is in Geneva, and then all of sudden there is a mass explosion. This doesn't add up!" Havok commented.

"I know Alex, but we have to stay and protect the students and keep the school together. If not, who knows who will destroy it next?" Polaris asked.

"You are both right, but that energy…. that wasn't a mutant energy that has been around in the last year or so. I looked at data received from Geneva, and I noticed something….odd," added Nightcrawler.

"What did you find, Kurt?" Polaris asked.

"Those energies matched the same energies energized by Onslaught, and Apocalypse. This creature or thing has the power to send the Earth back to a wasteland caused by Onslaught, and have the potential of resurrecting the four horsemen that Apocalypse used. We're in serious shit!" Nightcrawler explained.

"Hush everyone! The Professor will deal with it as he sees fit. It's not our problem," Angel yelled.

"Warren, what do you know that we don't know?" Alex asked.

"The Professor! You guys obviously don't understand that the Professor is now revisiting a past he wished he could forget. His alter ego caused the mass destruction. But, see….this alter ego never went against the mutants, only those who weren't for it's cause. Now, with Apocalypse intertwined in its system, both mankind and mutants are in danger. Now, just sit tight…and shut your mouths! Let the Professor handle the situation," Angel explained.

The three left the room, as Angel returned his sight back to the grounds of the X-Mansion. He noticed some ruffling in the trees, and using his eagle empowered eyes, he saw Psylocke wobbling out of the bushes. He ran out, and took flight…flying as fast as he could to reach Psylocke in time.

"BETSY???? Betsy are you all right?" Angel yelled.

"No…. Wa…rren…. get…. BACK!" Psylocke tried to utter. She then pushed Angle back with her telekinetic powers. Angel was surprised that she was using her telekinetic powers, since they had been taken away after her excursion with the Shadow King. Soon, the reason jumped out of the bushes. As soon as Angel reached the dirt road, spike hands imprisoned Psylocke. Out of the bushes, a new Shadow King walked out to examine his new captive.

"My dear Psylocke, did you really think you could keep in that foolish excuse for a prison? I am the King of the Shadows…I would of gotten out, eventually!" the King yelled. He then tightened his grip on Psylocke's prison, as the pears started to pierce her skin.

"Now, let us discuss how we're going to get in your mind that you're not invincible?" he asked.

The King then was knocked to the ground. He looked up and saw Havok powering up another energy blast, behind him was Nightcrawler, Polaris, and Angel.

"Don't get up scum, or I'll make sure you'll become the new fertilizer for the lawn," Havok said.

"My dear friends…how long has it been? 3 years? Well years don't matter…. THIS HAS BEEN LONG OVERDUE!!!"

The King put out his hand, and the shadows started to reclaim their host body. They soon revealed the true devil, but the X-Men had little time to react. The shadows soon swarmed them, leaving no room to escape. Havok fired off a plasma burst, but the shadows defensive capabilities allowed them to doge the blasts and encase Havok in a permanent tomb.

"So, my friends…I still see you are all extremely boorish. Though, what can I expect from a bunch of rag tag mutant heroes, hmmm?" the King asked.

"Leave them…. alone…Shadow Bas…tard!" Psylocke yelled.

"My little Psylocke, your telepathy and telekinetic powers cannot help you here. I have grown in my powers, and now…I cannot be stopped. And now, I shall stop your idiotic quell, and ruin your friends as well," the King said.

"Amal Farouk, there has never been a battle that you have won. And you're wrong! I am intrepid, and I won't give up!" yelled Psylocke.

Psylocke put out her hand and engaged her combined telepathy and telekinetic powers. She pulled out her Psychic knife and lunged at the King. He dodged it, but soon she opened her butterfly telepathic signature, and aimed it at the King. He soon wrapped his shadow fingers around her, and her connection was muffled by his grasp.

"NEVER FAROUK, never will I see you walk these grounds AGAIN!" she yelled.

Havok's case broke, as the X-Men were thrown to the ground. Angel looked and he saw Psylocke suspended in mid air in a psychic revitalization. He went up to her to check if she was all right, and woke her from her slumber.

"Betsy, darling, please be all right? Please?" he pleaded.

"Warren? Is everything fine now?" she asked.

"Yeah, everything's fine, you did your best. Just hold on until we get to the Med Lab, okay?" he asked.

"I'll try, darling," she said.

At the med lab, Dr. Reyes and Dr. Henry McCoy, other wise known as the Beast, analyzed Psylocke's condition. They were amazed to see that a mutant at her level was able to withstand a blast form Farouk, who was told to have been an Omega type B mutant. Dr. McCoy noticed that she had internal bleeding from the battle, but he was confident that it could be treated.

"Okay Dr. Reyes, lets see if Ms. Braddock's condition can be treated," Dr. McCoy said.

"I'm ready to operate Henry," replied Dr. Reyes.

They went to the med tank that held Psylocke. Angel was there, hoping for a miracle to happen. Dr. McCoy used the Cerebra Med Ops to start the operation. A small laser descended into the water, and began to puncture Psylocke's costume and entering her skin to correct her internal bleeding.

"Doctor, sir…we have entered the heart cavity, and located the bleeding," commented Dr. Reyes.

"I see, Cecilia," Dr. McCoy said.

As they began to asset their situation, a small shadow (left over from the battle with the Shadow King) began to poison Psylocke's blood stream. Soon, an alarm went off. Both doctors began to access the emergency situations screen on Cerebra.

"Dr. Reyes!! Access the emergency psychic protocols for treating a blood poisoned patient!" yelled Dr. McCoy.

"Henry…her blood is poisoning at an alarming rate. We need to administer a penicillin type A tablet now!" Reyes described.

The laser was soon removed, and the tablet med aid was inserted. A tube came out of the little droid, and inserted the tablet into the hole made by the laser. Psylocke soon went into shock.

"DANM! Henry, see if you can get the Professor! We're loosing her!" yelled Reyes.

"I'll try," said McCoy.

Angel, noticing that Psylocke was going down the road to death, ran to the tank. He watched her eyes open up, and it look like she was trying to say something.

"REYES!! Open the tank, open the danm tank!" he yelled.

Dr. Reyes, knowing that Psylocke's condition would be jeopardized if she left the tank, drained it as Angel cradled Psylocke in his arms. He felt blood splashing onto his uniform. Psylocke was not going to recover from this battle.

"Betsy? Betsy, please honey wake up?" he asked.

"Warren, darling, go on without me. I…. know I'm going to die…. make sure Jean gets her telekinetic powers back, heh," Psylocke softly spoke. "Know this…Farouk is gone for good…that shadow will consume my body and die when I go…I love you…"

Psylocke's blood soon stopped flowing. Angel felt her skin drop to a very cold temperature. Her face went pale, and then she took her last breath. Then the mighty warrior that had defeated Sabertooth, and helped in the Inferno missions…. was dead. Professor X came running in, and was horrified to find Psylocke dead.

"Cecilia, could we have done anything?" he asked.

"Charles, the poison spread way too quickly. Even if you had gotten here and perform an emergency psychic operation, she would have died. At least she got to say goodbye," explained Dr. Reyes.

Angel, who was still cradling Psylocke, let out one tear, which landed on Psylocke. Soon a butterfly image appeared and dissipated into the air. He then left her body, and left the Med Lab. Then, he came back and approached Professor Xavier.

"Charles, assemble the team…we're going to Geneva," said Angel.

"But Angel, what would that do?" asked Xavier.

"Because Charles, the thing that brought on Psylocke's death is in Geneva, and the others are not faring well. Let's go!" he commanded.

Then, all the members assembled on the X-Jet, and took off heading to fight for revenge, and this time it was personal.
