Xiaolin Showdown!
The Curse of the Two Brothers

It was quite early in the morning, before the sun had risen, that Master Fung abruptly woke the Xiaolin Warriors to pass down great news… However, only Kimiko and Clay were awake enough to hear it, seeing as Raimundo kept Omi awake the night before to play videogames with him. They all gathered in the room above the Shin Gon Wu vault, where a stranger stood with Master Fung wearing only white and black clothing.

The clothes he wore were similar to the robes the Dragons also did wear, except the red had seemed to be replaced by the shining white. The boy seemed of age fourteen, uncut red hair and dark hazel eyes accenting his soft features. He held his hand in the pocket of his robe, as if to protect something… To hide something…

“Omi, Raimundo, Clay, Kimiko. I would like you to meet SaiKai, the newest member of our Xiaolin Temple and the Dragon of Darkness and Light. He would have joined us earlier, had it not been for the… Well, you need not know of that…” Master Fung hesitated, turning away for a moment. “… I hope you all will treat SaiKai with the same respect you treat each other.” He said simply, and then walked away.

Kimiko looked up to the strange boy who seemed so out of place with his dark crimson hair… Then smiled and offered one hand to shake. SaiKai merely turned from her and the others, walking off towards the obstacle course.

“Kind of a quiet little varmint, ain't he?” Clay finally chimed in, standing to the side of Kimiko. “… Seems like the fella's a bit… Upset about somethin' or another.” He finished, turning to Kimiko to get her opinion… But when she started to whisper something to him, two huge yawns came from behind. Raimundo and Omi, rings under their eyes, looked up to Clay and Kimiko.

“… You don't mind if we…” the Brazilian began, but Kimiko cut him off.

“Go on, Rai… You won't be any help to us if you can't stay awake. You too, Omi.” She said in a rather annoyed tone. She then turned back to Clay, closing her eyes for a second as the boys stumbled off. “… He was hiding something…”

“I thought I was just bein' paranoid. I saw him rustling something around in his pocket!” Clay added, happy that he wasn't just seeing things. “Whatever it was, he really didn't want us to see it… Figure he can be trusted?”

Before Kimiko could answer, Dojo shot into the room, eyes wide.

“A new Shin Gon Wu has revealed itself!” he burst out in a scream, pulling out the ancient scroll upon which he would show its powers. “The Protagonist Polearm! This is a very strange Shin Gon Wu, and practically useless to Ja… Wait…” He looked around quickly before he actually noticed that the Japanese girl and the American cowboy were the only ones in the room. “… Er… Where are Omi, Rai, and the new guy?”

“Rai and Omi had to go get some sleep… And Omi really must've needed it… He didn't say a word, not even a cheesy bit of slang…” Kimiko whispered. She then heard that he had mentioned SaiKai, and then let out a deep sigh. “I don't know where he went… I think he's at the obstacle course or something.”

“Well, get him and get on!!!” the little dragon screamed out, growing into a giant serpent. Kimiko nodded and ran off, eventually finding SaiKai at the far end of the training field. She was only a bit away from him when she heard a strange voice… A handsome sound that came from the boy as he stood, looking on to the rising sun as he clutched something in his hand. He was singing… But his mouth did not move… Kimiko stood there for a moment, hearing the words he spoke, awestruck at his voice.

“… And in the night, we go
To and fro, through the twilit path to morning…
Forget your fears, now
I will take your tears now…
Look forth, the Sun… The Dawning…”

She stood there for a moment, trying to say something, but she honestly couldn't. She hadn't heard such a melody before, and was unfamiliar with the song… It seemed as of something in a day long left in years past… The melody captivated her so long that she just stood there for ten minutes before SaiKai turned around and noticed her. He let loose a light blush, then stormed away quickly.

“Let's go. The Shin Gon Wu is waiting…” he said in his half-whisper of a voice, hiding the melodic tone as if ashamed of it.

“How did you…” Kimiko began, but then cut off quickly. “… That was beautiful… Who taught you?” She wanted to know more about this mysterious man, and, even though Dojo seemed so alarmed by the awakening of this Shin Gon Wu, she knew he was going to say that Jack Spicer could not use it… Or at least that's what she thought.

SaiKai turned to the beautiful girl and frowned, then turned away for a moment. “… My father taught me the ways of the warrior as well as the ways of the bard. I owe him a great deal for what he has done for me… But I never got the chance to thank him…” His sad eyes turned to her as she placed a hand on her mouth. He could tell she felt guilty, just by the look in her eye, and before she could mutter an “I'm sorry”, he turned away again. “... You should wait before you judge people, Kimiko. You don't know who is watching.”

Kimiko's expression of shock turned to one of simple surprise. “You mean you heard Clay and I tal…”

“Yes. Every word. Come now, let's go.” He smiled and placed an arm around her, pushing her along as to avoid any more questioning. Dojo looked to the two as they came along, then chuckled lightly as he noticed SaiKai's arm around her.

“Looks like you two got along fine enough,” he whispered snidely, but then noticed how Kimiko was glaring at him. Dojo shut up for the moment and let them on his back, and they were off. “To Tokyo!”

All the while, Chase, Wuya, and Jack Spicer were all depicting a plan that would assure them victory over the monks. They were just a mile away from the Japanese capital, as Wuya was briefing them one last time.

“Alright, Jack…” the ghostly figure began as she floated over the pale boy's shoulder. “You will challenge SaiKai to a Xiaolin Showdown for the Protagonist Polearm, and you have to win! It is vital that we receive the Shin Gon Wu he possesses… Of course, if… No no… WHEN you do fail, Chase will have to take over the operation. He will take the Scroll of the Ancients and use its power, and then, we shall have the ultimate warrior of darkness on our side!!!... Er… Aside from you, Chase,” she purred, floating over to him and rubbing her ghostly self against his neck. As usual, the boy in golden armor was munching on the noodles of soup, trying to ignore the fact that he was in a flying hunk of metal.

“What do you mean `When I do fail'? You need to remember that I am the one who…” Jack's retort was interrupted by Wuya, who flew back to his side and shouted in his ear.
“Would you rather me have Chase take charge?! I'm sure he could do a much more efficient job than you!!!” she barked, spiraling eyes angry. Jack groaned and then continued to pilot the craft until the city was in sight.

Dojo landed by an immense tower and let the three off. Of course, of the three, SaiKai was the first to spot the spear-like weapon atop of the tower. Silently, he leapt to the top, placing his hand on the weapon… But it would seem he had done so too late. Before him was the other red haired boy, grinning. “SaiKai, I challenge you to a Xiaolin Showdown! My Monkey Staff versus your Scroll of the Ancients!”

“Fine by me,” the monk said coldly, flashing out the small piece of parchment as Jack drew forth the Monkey Staff. “Name the game.”

“Alright, here's how it goes. We race on the rooftops. First one to get to the Polearm or knock the opponent off of the roof wins.”

“Let's go, Xiaolin Showdown!!!” SaiKai shouted, soon feeling the roof before him shoot upward. In a few seconds, they were high above the clouds. The two teenagers then screamed out at the top of their lungs the phrase to start the race…

“BEN YE TEMPAI!!!!”

To be continued…
